It'd be a massively deflating way to close out WrestleMania and benefits nobody at all. Just strike while the irons hot, it's the perfect time and platform to cement Cody's position at the top, delaying it for however many months isn't going to get him over any more than he already is.
I mean it would benefit Roman lol

If Roman beats Cody I just don’t know where you go from there. He’ll literally be unbeatable at that point. The only thing I can see is if Rock agreed to a match and we don’t know about it. But other than that yeah it’d make Roman look TOO strong.

The Rock ship has definitely sailed now, it felt like this Mania was now or never. I mean I guess you could pick it up at SummerSlam or something with no belts involved but I just think that if he can't commit to WrestleMania in Hollywood of all occassions, then he isn't going to do another PLE.

He is only unbeatable because of his crew, so the story regardless should be he loses his crew and loses everything. Just depends in which order they want to do it in. I do think it will be the real downfall when and if he loses to Cody (which I think he will, but we are talking hypotheticals in this thread). So even if he beats Cody, it would depend what kind of story they would tell and how Cody loses/he beats him.

So yeah, hypothetically there are ways to tell the same story without Cody winning, but logically now it would be kind of silly to not use the biggest moment possible to dethrone him after investing all this time. And if the plan is to make Cody the next Cena than ya this is probably the best way to make it happen.

Unless Roman Reigns wants to quit wrestling to pursue other business opportunities, there is a possibility to have him retain .... Cody Rhodes's dethroning Reigns seems too predictable and Triple H , the writers and Paul Heyman might be tempted to shock most fans and pundits at Wrestlemania 39.

What would Reigns' retaining bring to WWE ? ... Well, it may serve to add a twist to the storyline ... For example, Paul Heyman could betray Reigns during the match in an attempt to let Cody win. Call it The Heyman Turn ... But, to make things even more unpredictable, Heyman's interference would fail as Reigns would win anyway. ... Then, after Wrestlemania 39, there would be a whole new scenario in The Bloodline saga , including Heyman shortly thereafter creating his own stable with Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn plus the returning Randy Orton and Matt Riddle ... This feud would then end once and for all at Survivor Series 2023, regardless of who holds the titles currently held by Roman Reigns and The Usos.

So??? ? Who will Reigns lose to after The Heyman Turn ? Maybe Cody Rhodes himself in a rematch at Summer Slam or .... NOBODY !

Another Heyman betrayal, just what we need.
