Your Least Favorite Year in Professional Wrestling

Title says it all, just sorta give your thoughts on what you think was your least favorite or subjectively worst year in professional wrestling.

I'll go ahead and start by saying 2017 has to be among the worst years for American wrestling in particular. It was Vince McMahon at his most batshit and with his worst impulses on display; Impact was going through the GCW merger/non-merger drama, ROH was going through a particularly rough period, and AEW wouldn't exist for another 2 years.

Hell, WrestleMania 33 was also pretty baaaad. Roman/Taker in the main event, Orton/Bray with one of the worst matches I've ever seen, and Seth/Trips underdelivered. Not to mention some stinkers like Cena/Nikki vs. Miz/Maryse and the wet fart that was the post-match segment. The only real fun things on that show was the Hardy Boyz return, Brock/Goldberg being painlessly short, and Owens/Jericho. Other than that, horrible.

Let's not even start on Jinder Mahal being WWE Champion either. We've talked about that in the past.

You completely forgot that if it weren't for AJ putting on a great match with Shane that Mania 33 would've been a contender for WOAT Mania.

Also 2017 at least gave us Wyatt finally winning that WWE Title at the Chamber.

Even with AJ/Shane I think 33 might still be somewhere in my top-10/15 worst Manias.

I stopped watching WWE around 2006 when TNA started emerging with the six sided ring it was so refreshing as a fan watching another company expand . It's rare that happens once as a kid with Hogan , Stone Cold , Rock, Taker Orton, Brick Kurt , Eddie that is some fricking roster of enormous talent . Now We have Mox ,Bryan , Swerve, Hangman my guy Adam Cole is back. WWE just had one of the biggest runs with Roman in company history. Cody as heel would be great TV if He Faces Rock.

Going forward Wrestling is in fantastic position going forward. I'm so looking forward John Cena's last full schedule. I would never thought I wrote this .

I have to go with 2019. Now, I liked some aspects of 2019. Becky Lynch at Mania. And I'm a big Bray Wyatt fan and loved the Firefly Fun House Era. But gosh so much sucked. Undertaker shitting on his legacy further with the Goldberg match. A HIAC match finishing in a DQ. Becky's actual title reign. Kofi jobs to Lesnar in seconds (and I liked Lesnar but that was still unnecessary)

2007/2008 when the attitude era ended. Ruthless Era ended when WWE went corporate and PG. It was a load of

2018 was absolute trash for the mainstream, so much hopelessness all around. 2019 was technically worse for WWE but then there was the beginning of AEW too

1995-Diesel was a mediocre world champion, Mabel got a push, Lawrence Taylor main evented WrestleMania (a definite bad 'Mania), even Bret Hart and The Undertaker were booked in poor feuds. WCW wasn't much better. I can't even recall off the top of my head one thing that happened in WCW in 1995 one of the only years I can say that. Shawn Michaels did have some good matches, though. ECW also had some good stuff looking back on it with Cactus Jack as well as Benoit, Malenko, Guerrero, and Rey Misterio.

Also 2020, the pandemic affected everything. You had some bad cinematic matches and some stupid concepts such as Swamp Fight, Eye for an Eye Match, Firefly Funhouse "Match", Money in the Bank on top of the Titan Towers.

probably it for me. 2018 was my breaking point lol I was pretty much only enjoying the odd NJPW show

1999 is up there because of the Russo influence on WWF and WCW falling apart.
