As the thread title indicates, this is a thread to discuss your favourite author. For me, it has to be the one and only Stephen King. I only started to read his books at like Christmas time, and I thought almost straight away that they were brilliant. The first thing I read by him was 'It', and to this day is my joint favourite book. Everything (apart from the ending) is superb, and I would advise anyone to have a look at it. I think that by him, I've read the following: 'Misery', 'Different Seasons', 'The Green Mile', 'The Stand', 'Carrie', 'The Shining', 'The running Man', 'The long Walk', 'Just After Sunset', 'Night Shift' and 'Under The Dome'. I also recently read 'The Dark Tower', but didn't finish it (because I thought that if was awful). Overall, I'd say that my top three books by King are 'It', 'Under The Dome' and 'The Green Mile'.

How about you? Who's your favourite author? I demand that you all answer me!

Great thread! Your demand is answered Herr OJR.

My favourite author is Jeffrey Archer. The first novel I read of his, if I remember correctly, was A Twist in a Tale which is a collection of short stories. After that I just started buying all of his other novels whenever I saw them and I now own all his novels (except for The Gospel According to Judas), all of his prison diaries and all of his short story collections bar his most recent release as I am waiting for that to go to paperback before I buy it. I like his style of writing and his general theme of two individuals, different up-bringing with both making it big before coming together at the end. Yes some of his stories have very similar storylines but in general there is enough of a difference to make me happy reading it.

I also have many other authors which I am fans of and purchase all of their books. Robert Crais who writes the Cole and Pike series, James Patterson who writes the Alex Cross and Women's Murder Club series among many other novels, Steve Berry who writes the Cotton Malone series and recently I have started getting into John Grisham novels.

I tend to enjoy crime novels but with John Grisham I have started to get into legal thrillers.

I have never actually read a Stephen King novel which is a bit of a sin. My dad was a fan of his and there are plenty of King's novels in my house so I might start reading them next. You have inspired me to start reading his novels and I will report back here on how I enjoy them.
