Whether it's Bruce Dickinson replacing Paul DiAnno in Iron Maiden, Jeff Beck replacing Eric Clapton in the Yardbirds, Jason Newsted sadly having to replace Cliff Burton or a variety of others. We have a bit of time before Booty starts the Albums draft...let's talk some music!!

Not sure if this exactly counts because Randy Rhoads was amazing, but Zakk Wylde "replacing" him after his death in Ozzy's band was a great choice

Mike Patton taking over Faith No More tops my list. Also El Hefe replacing Steve Kidwiler in NOFX is a great one I really can’t imagine the band without Hefe.

Zakk replaced Jake E. Lee, who replaced Randy. Ozzy finds great guitarists, always has.

And I won’t say I liked it more but the transition from DLR to Sammy Hagar was pretty damn good too.

One of my favorite's was pretty much a professional replacement or gun for hire the first decade of his career. That's Steve Vai, he started working for Frank Zappa at 18 becoming his first "stunt guitarist," then replaced Yngwie Malmsteen in Alcatrazz, then formed the David Lee Roth band inadvertently replacing Eddie Van Halen as DLR's guitarist and then did a stint in Whitesnake before going out as a solo artist.

David Lee Roth and Ozzy are neck and neck for finding the most guitar talent.

Ozzy had Randy, then got Brad Gillis (Night Ranger) for about 5 minutes, then Jake E Lee and onto Zakk

DLR went from EVH, Steve in his solo band, then Jason Becker and then near the end of the 90's, John 5.

Would probably remiss without mentioning Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks replacing guitarists Bob Welch and Bob Weston and vocalist Dave Walker in Fleetwood Mac.

Oh and Phil Collins taking over for Peter Gabriel in Genesis completely made them a way more successful band.

Ian Gillan taking over for Rod Evans in Deep Purple turned them into a band that would be on par with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath for years.

George Fisher replacing Chris Barnes as lead singer for Cannibal Corpse, Howard Jones replacing Jesse Leech as lead singer for KSE, and while I love Ozzy's Sabbath more than Dio or Martin, Ronnie James Dio was a great pick as a replacement.
