Raw Is War 31/01/00
Hartford Civic Center - Hartford, Conneticut
The Raw Is War theme video and music play before the camera cuts in to the Hartford Civic Center and surveys the crowd as the pyro goes off around the arena.
JR: Hello everybody and welcome to Raw Is War! I'm Good ol' "JR" Jim Ross here as always with my broadcast partner Jerry "The King" Lawler. And King, tonights gonna be a big one.
King: Spot on JR. Some exciting matches lined up for us all tonight. Including that high profile Diva's match as Lita goes one on one with her close friend Trish Stratus for a shot at Ivory and her WWF Womens Championship.
JR: I'm sure your looking forward to that one King, and there's a lot more to look forward to too. Like The Hardy Boyz taking on Joey Abs and Pete Gas of the Mean Street Posse, "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman going head to head with "The Human Suplex Machine" Tazz, and Stevie Richards one on one with the Big Bossman.
King: Wow JR, no wonder the arena's sold out!
"No Chance In Hell" hits to tremendous heat as the Chairman of the World Wrestling Federation, Vincent Kennedy McMahon appears from behind the curtain with a cold expression on his face. He struts down to the ring like no other man in the world could. Once inside he grabs a microphone and puts it to his mouth.
King: And we kick things off here tonight with our lovely boss, Mr. McMahon.
JR: Come off it King.
A "You Suck" chant directed at Vince starts up.
Vince: Shuuut Up!
The "You Suck" chant dies down and turns in to a wave of boos.
Vince: I'm the Chairman of this company so show me some god damn respect.
Big heat.
Vince: Now let me get straight to the point. Last Thursday night Kurt Angle did something he'll regret for the rest of his life. Kurt Angle put his hands on Triple H. Kurt Angle Angle Slammed my own flesh and blood, my own son-in-law down to the mat. And not only did he hurt a family member of mine, but he also cost him his match. And in the process let Mick Foley's sad excuse for a career..... Continue.
This gains a lot of heat from the crowd as they love Mick Foley.
Vince: So Kurt, or should I say, Mr. Olympic Gold Medalist. Tonight your going to pay for your actions. Tonight your going to be in a match. But not just any match, oh no, you will be in a handicap match!
Heat.
Vince: And your opponents will be none other than the greatest tag team in the history of the World Wrestling Federation. "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn. The New Age Outlaws!
Heat.
Vince: So Kurt, do you now realize that no one messes with the most powerful family in sports entertainment?
Heat.
Vince: I hope you do Kurt, for your own sake. Because I would hate to have to fire an American Hero.
Heat again.
JR: And let me just inform you of one last thing Kurt. You may think you got the better of Triple H last Thursday. But in truth you just made things worse for yourself. Because at WrestleMania Triple H is now not only going to beat you, but he's going to bash you to a bloody pulp as well.
Big heat.
Vince: And Kurt.. You brought that on yourself.
Heat.
Vince: But lets not get ahead of ourselves shall we. Kurt, I hope your busy preparing for your match as I speak because your going to need all the preparation you can get. So when the time comes to step in to the ring with The New Age Outlaws, you'll be prepared for defeat, because it's the only outcome possible. So Kurt, it's not a matter of win or lose for you tonight, it's a matter of how badly you are beaten.
"No Chance In Hell" hits again as Mr. McMahon exits the ring and walks back up the entrance ramp with a big grin etched across his face. A wave of boos fills the arena.
JR: And there's a statement made by the boss King. Tonight in the main event Kurt Angle will have to take on not one, but two other guys as The New Age Outlaws look to get revenge on behalf of D-Generation X after Kurt cost the WWF Champion Triple H his match against Mick Foley last week on Smackdown.
King: And hopefully this will teach Kurt once and for all never to mess with The McMahon's again.
JR: Whatever you say King. Anyway coming up after the break. Stevie Richards goes head to head with The Big Bossman.
***Commercial***
"Servin' Hard Time" hits to a decent pop as The Big Bossman appears at the top of the stage. Showing little emotion he storms down to the ring and waits patiently inside.
JR: Now here's a man who knows what it takes to get it done in the ring. The Big Bossman is a veteran of the business and can mix it with the best of 'em.
King: Well his opponent tonight isn't too shabby himself.
"Censor" hits to some big heat as Stevie Richards appears from behind the curtain. He stops at the top of the stage as it appears like he has something to say.
JR: Just get in the damn ring Stevie. I've had just about enough of his senseless rambles.
King: Senseless rambles? JR, Stevie Richards does no such thing. He is a man of few words, but when he does speak, it's worth listening too.
JR: ........ I'm not even going to bother King.
Stevie: Bossman, you look awfully tense today? I think you need to relax a little. That is why I, being the generous man I am, have decided to cancel our match here tonight.
Heat.
Stevie: I feel that it is for your own safety and health. I hope you realize how much I wanted to wrestle tonight, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it to you.
More heat.
Stevie: So big man, I guess i'll leave you to it. Thanks for your time.
Richards turns around and starts to head back through the curtain when out of no where Big Bossman exits the ring, runs down to him, and grabs him from behind. He drags him back down to the ring as the ref calls for the bell and the match starts.
Big Bossman vs Stevie Richards
After six or so minutes of complete domination from the Big Bossman. Richards had just managed to turn the tables with a rake to the eyes. Richards then irish whipped Bossman in to the ropes and hit him with a cross body. Richards signalled to the crowd that the end was near and stalked Bossman, setting up for the Stevie Kick. Bossman got up and swung around and the Stevie Kick connected to the chin of Bossman. Bossman collapsed to the ground as Stevie taunted his downed opponent. However instead of making the pin an over confident Richards lifted Bossman up to his feet and proceeded to slap him across the face. Then out of nowhere Scotty Too Hotty and Grandmaster Sexay run out from backstage. They stopped at ringside and began to taunt Richards. Richards became distracted causing Bossman to spin him around and nail him with a Powerbomb. Bossman pointed at Grandmaster and Scotty as he made the cover and got the three count.
Winner: Big Bossman @ 7.22
Big Bossman lifts his arms in the air before exiting the ring and heading back up the entrance ramp and through the curtain. Scotty and Grandmaster slide in to the ring and start circling Stevie. They look at the top of the entrance ramp and usher for someone to come out. "Basic Groove" hits to a huge pop as Rikishi appears from behind the curtain. He has a big grin on his face. He walks down to the ring and steps inside. Grandmaster and Scotty each grab an arm of Stevie's and drag him in to a sitting position in the corner turnbuckle. The fans cheer at this as they know what is coming next. Rikishi takes a few steps back and looks at Stevie. He laughs before walking over to him, turning around, and rubbing his ass in Stevie's face. This wakes Stevie up alright as he struggles for air. Rikishi eases up after about twenty seconds. Then Grandmaster has an idea. He pulls a pair of yellow sunglasses out of his pocket and holds them out for Rikishi. Rikishi looks from side to side before taking the glasses and moving to the middle of the ring. With Grandmaster on the right and Scotty on the left, "Basic Groove" hits again as the three start dancing.
JR: Haha, you gotta love it King, Steven Richards got just what he deserved.
King: How can you say that JR? No one deserves to go through that, it should be illegal or something.
JR: It serves Richards right for getting his goons if you like, to eliminate Rikishi from the Battle Royal last week on Smackdown. But anyway, coming up after the break, Steve Blackman steps in the ring with "The Human Suplex Machine" Tazz!

The camera cuts backstage where Edge and Christian are walking down a hallway looking very smug. They go to turn the corner but happen to bump in to Bradshaw and Farooq of The Acolytes.
Christian: Well if it isn't our good friends Farooq and Bradshaw. How you guys goin?
Bradshaw slaps Christian across the face.
Bradshaw: Wipe that goofy grin off your damn face and listen up.
Christian stretches his jaw and checks for blood.
Bradshaw: I think you two need a reminder of who the hell we are. We are the toughest SOB's in this company and you better watch your back. Because Edge, I sent your ass all the way to hell last week, and i'd happily do it again.
Edge: Oh, is that so hey Bradshaw. Look buddy, everyone knows that last week was a fluke. Because I am Edge, and this is Christian, and we are awesomeness. Oh and ah, I think your forgetting last week on Raw when Christian here Unprettiered Farooq and pinned him for the one, two, three. And I can guarantee that he would happily, do it ag...
Farooq snaps and hits Edge square in the face with a vicous right. Edge retaliates as Bradshaw and Christian join in. A brawl starts as the four hammer away at each other with whatever they can find. Finally Shane McMahon walks in to picture and yells for them all to cut it out.
Shane: Enough! If you four want at each other so bad then you will get your chance this Thursday on Smackdown. Because it will be Edge and Christian versus Farooq and Bradshaw and whichever team wins is rightfully better than the other. No complaining, no whining, the winning team is better than the losing. So until then could you please quit acting like a pack of wild dogs and go back to doing whatever the hell you were doing beforehand. Thank you.
The camera cuts back down to JR and King at ringside as Bradshaw, Farooq, Edge, and Christian stare each other down.
JR: What a match just announced for this week on Smackdown as The Acolytes collide with Edge and Christian.
King: Finally Edge and Christian will get to show to The Acolytes that they are the top tag team in the company today.
"Just Another Victim" hits to a mild pop as Tazz appears from behind the curtain. With a towel on his head he walks down to the ring showing no emotion what so ever.
JR: And here is the always dangerous "Human Suplex Machine" Tazz.
King: He's one frightening fellow that's for sure. Steve Blackman is gonna have to pull out all stops if he wants to walk out victorious.
"Lethal" hits to a small mixed reaction as "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman appears at the top of the stage. He points at Tazz before making his way down to the ring. Once inside he goes straight for his opponent.
Tazz vs Steve Blackman
After almost eleven minutes in to the extremely physical contest, Blackman had Tazz in the corner. He hit him with a Knife Edge Chop, then another, and another. All the while the fans grimacing at the sound. Blackman went for a fourth but Tazz moved, spun around Blackman and hit him with a release German Suplex. Tazz quickly jumped back up to his feet and got ready to hit Blackman with a T-Bone Suplex when he too got to his feet. However Blackman dodged the attempted move and reversed it in to a kick to the side, then the chest, then the gut, then the leg, but when he went for the head Tazz held on to Blackman's foot, pulled it towards him and hit him with a Tazzmission-Plex. Tazz signalled that the end was near before locking the downed Blackman in the Tazzmission and it was only a matter of time before "The Lethal Weapon" tapped out.
Winner: Tazz @ 11.27
As Tazz celebrates Blackman secretly rolls out of the ring, pulls up the apron and grabs a Kendo Stick from under the ring. He then cautiously rolls back in to the ring before striking Tazz with the Kendo Stick from behind. Tazz falls to his knees as Blackman continues the pre-match assault. As Tazz yells out in pain Blackman doesn't ease up, if anything he hits harder. Finally security reach the scene and drag Blackman away from the "Human Suplex Machine". Blackman swings his Kendo Stick around wildly but is no match for the security. He finally gives up and lets them escort him to the back as the trainers and EMT's check on a hurt Tazz.
JR: What a cowardly act right there from someone I expected better from.
King: Can you really blame him JR? He's been losing every time he steps in to the ring. How longs it been since his last win?
JR: God knows how long King. Still I know he's frusterated but there's no need for that.
King: Well anyway coming up next, The Hardy Boyz take on Joey Abs and Pete Gas of The Mean Street Posse.
***Commercial***
The camera cuts backstage where William Regal is standing by with Lilian Garcia.
Lilian: I'm currently standing by with the European Champion himself, Mr. William Regal. Now Regal, Chris Jericho, a man who it is safe to say you don't like, has been getting the better of you as of late. Over the past week alone he has managed to cost you your match by hitting you with the brass knucks, and then just this past Thursday on Smackdown he managed to reverse your sneak attack and lock you in the Walls Of Jericho. What I, and I think everyone else want to know is are you planning on exacting revenge on Jericho?
Regal: What kind of a bloody question is that? Of course i'm gonna exact revenge. Who the bloody 'ell do you think I am? I 'ave never been one to just sit back and be embarrassed. So Jericho, you may think you've got the better of me. But let me tell you something right now. You haven't. Because you see my friend, this is just the beginning. When you get on the wrong side of me, your gonna pay.
Lilian: I just want to point something out to you Regal. You see, you may of been the one that provoked Jericho to do all this. I mean, one week ago at the Royal Rumble you knocked Jericho out with the brass knucks from behind when he was only seconds away from making Davey Boy Smith tap out to The Walls Of Jericho and winning that WWF European Title. So you've got to admit that you are extremely fortunate to still have that gold on your shoulder.
Regal glares at Lilian with a pissed off expression on his face.
Regal: I 'ave bloody well had enough of this.
Regal storms away leaving Lilian looking suprised. The camera then cuts back to King and JR at ringside.
JR: Well King, looks to me like Chris Jericho is getting under the skin of the European Champ, William Regal.
King: What are you talking about JR? Regal is looking as laid back as always, you heard him, Jericho's got it comin' to him.
"Loaded" hits to a big pop as Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy appear from behind the curtain. They make their way down to the ring, Jeff dancing and jumping around and Matt doing his signature V1 sign with his hands. Once in the ring they both go up to the top rope and pose for the crowd.
JR: Now here are two guys that everyone just loves to watch compete. They are so agile and quick, and when they're in a match, you know it's gonna be exciting.
King: They're nothing special King. They can jump and flip, that's about it.
JR: Whatever you say King. But you have to admit that they give it their all night in night out to entertain the fans.
"Mean Street" hits to some heat as Rodney, Pete Gas, and Joey Abs appear at the top of the stage. They walk down to the ring taunting to the crowd along the way.
King: Now if you want some real entertainers look no further than these guys. These three have it all JR. The look, the skill, and the charisma.
The Hardy Boyz vs Pete Gas and Joey Abs (w/Rodney)
After four and a half minutes of complete dominance from the Mean Street Posse thanks largely to continuous interference from Rodney, Pete Gas had Matt Hardy on the mat in the center of the ring. He lifted him to his feet and pulled him over to his corner and made the tag to Joey Abs. Abs entered the ring as Gas exited. Abs irish whipped Matt in to the ropes and hit him with a clothesline as he came back. He then lifted him up and went for the Snake Eyes but Matt slid out and dived over to his corner and made the big time tag to Jeff Hardy. Jeff jumped over the top rope and ran at Abs taking him down with a dropkick. Gas entered the ring but was immediately taken down by another dropkick from Jeff. As Jeff went to the top rope, Rodney slid in to the ring and threw him off. Matt then came in and grabbed Rodney and threw him through the ropes to the floor below. Abs was back up to his feet so Matt grabbed him and hit him with the Twist Of Fate. Jeff then went up top again and performed his signature Swanton Bomb. Jeff made the cover as Matt held Gas off.
Winners: The Hardy Boyz @ 4.52
The Hardys rejoice and celebrate in the ring before exiting and making their way back up the entrance ramp as all three members of The Mean Street Posse are down and out in the ring.
JR: A hard fought victory there for The Hardy Boyz. Looks like they're getting back on track after losing the Tag Team Titles.
King: The Mean Street Posse were just unlucky JR. Matt Hardy had no business coming in to the ring and throwing Rodney out. He was not the legal man, his brother Jeff was!
JR: Sometimes I wonder if your sane enough to do this job King. Rodney was the one not meant to be in the ring, Matt was just looking out for his brother, evening the odds if you will.
King: Always favoring the team you like aren't you JR? Stop being so buyist and call it right down the middle for a change.
JR: I have no idea what your talking about King. But anyway, coming up after the break, Trish Stratus goes one on one with her good friend Lita for a shot at the Womens Championship.
***Commercial***
The camera cuts backstage in to the locker room of D-Generation X. Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are hammering away at a punching bag as Triple H looks on.
Triple H: You guys ready to kick some ass?!
Road Dogg and Billy Gunn: Hell yeah!
Triple H: You guys ready to show the world what D-Generation X is all about?!
Billy Gunn: One hundred percent!
Triple H: You guys ready to inflict pain?!
Road Dogg: There's gonna be blood!
Billy Gunn: There's gonna be carnage!
Triple H: I want you to hurt him, hurt him so he can't walk!
Road Dogg: Were gonna do more than hurt him!
Triple H: Well then you better deliver, because Kurt Angle messed with D-Generation X... And now he's gonna pay!
Road Dogg and Billy Gunn let out a scream as they punch the bag so hard that it comes off the hook and flies in to the wall. The camera then cuts back to JR and King at ringside.
JR: Wow King, Triple H has really fired the New Age Outlaws up.
King: Did you seriously expect anything other? Triple H knows what it takes to win, The New Age Outlaws know what it takes to win, and tonight, Kurt Angle is going to experience that first hand.
"It Just Feels Right" hits to a big pop as Lita appears from behind the curtain. She jogs down to the ring, hi-fiving th fans all the way.
JR: And here comes Lita. One of the top Divas in the WWE, tonight she puts it all on the line against a very close friend of hers.
King: I've been looking forward to this match all night JR, and now that's it's finally here, im even more excited!
"Time To Rock And Roll" hits to another good pop as Trish Stratus appears at the top of the stage. She signals to the crowd before she too jogs down to the ring, hi-fiving the fans as she goes.
King: Oh baby. Did it just get hotter in here or what?
JR: Trish is looking fine tonight King, that much is certain.
Womens Championship #1 Contendership
Trish Stratus vs Lita
After thirteen minutes of highly entertaining, and back and forth action, Lita had Trish in a rear naked choke in the center of the ring. However Trish managed to fight out and hit Lita with a right arm to the face, then she irish whipped here in to the corner turnbuckle and run at her and hit her with a Stratus Splash. Lita collapsed to the mat but Trish grabbed her hair and pulled her right back up. Trish then went for the Stratusfaction but Lita slipped out and as Trish spun around was hit with a Spear by Lita. Lita then went up top and waited for Trish to get up. When Trish finally got to her feet Lita jumped and hit here with a Litacanrana. Trish went flying through the second rope out to the front of the Announcers table. Lita quickly followed her out and rolled her on to the Announcers table. She attempted a Swinging Snap DDT but Trish blocked the move with her foot and hit Lita with a forearm to the gut. Still on the announcers table, Trish started to gain some offense but it was cut short after a kick to the mid section by Lita. Lita then quickly grabbed the head of Lita and nailed her with a Twist Of Fate through the Announcers table. However instead of rolling Trish back in to the ring and making the cover, Lita climbed on to the apron and went up top. She then pointed at the lifeless Trish laying on the broken Announcers table before jumping. She got most of the Litasault on Trish, but it seemed she had done more damage to herself than her opponent. Neither moved for a long time which forced the ref to ring the bell for a double count out.
Winner: Double Count Out @ 14.45
JR: What a match King! Both girls gave it there all and in the end both deserved to win.
King: But neither won JR. They both lost, which leaves me wondering who will be getting a shot at the Womens Championship.
JR: That is yet to be seen King. But what is to be seen is the Rock's public address about his upcoming match with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin at No Way Out. And that is coming up next.
***Commercial***
"If Ya Smell" hits to an outstanding ovation as The Rock appears from behind the curtain. Th fans cheer loudly as he makes his way down to the ring. He climbs the steps but before entering the ring he walks over to the turnbuckle and climbs it. He sticks an arm in the air before climbing down and stepping under the second rope.
JR: Here he is King. The People's Champion is here, and it looks like he's got something important to say.
King: I've been dying to her this almost as much as the Divas Match. And that didn't dissapoint, so i'm hoping this won't either.
Rock: Finally.. The Rock.. Has come back.... To Hartford!
Fans scream wildly.
Rock: Now The Rock wants to keep this rather simple. You see, in two weeks at No Way Out, The Rock must go up against a man he truly respects, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
Fans pop again at the mention of "The Rattlesnake."
Rock: But Austin needs to realize something. You see, as much as The Rock respects him, The Rock ain't gonna hold back from sendin' his candy ass all the way to Minnesota!
Cheers out number the boos.
Rock: Because as far as The Rock's concerned there ain't no one better than himself. Not Austin, not Kurt Angle, not Triple H, not no one!
Big pop.
Rock: So that is why in fourteen days The Rock will be victorious and will go on to WrestleMania to win the World Wrestling Federation Championship!
Pop.
Rock: If ya smeeeeeeeeeeellllllllll....... What The Rock..... Is cookin'!
"If Ya Smell" hits to another tremendous ovation as The "Brahma Bull" throws the microphone to the ground and walks over to the turnbuckle. He climbs it and shoots one of his arms in the air before jumping down and exiting the ring.
JR: Short and sweet from the "People's Champ" there King. The Rock means business, and if he has to go through Austin to get what he wants, then you can bet your bottom dollar that he'll do just that.
King: It's on JR. No doubt about it. At No Way Out all the respect these guys have for each other will be thrown out the window as they do battle.
JR: Austin must win or else he will have to kiss Mr. McMahon's ass. But at the same time if The Rock wins, then he will be headlining the grand daddy of 'em all. At WrestleMania he would do battle for the WWF Championship with both Kurt Angle and Triple H.
King: That's if Kurt Angle even makes it to WrestleMania JR. Because up next.. Main Event time!
***Commercial***
"Oh You Didn't Know" hits to some big heat as "Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn appear at the top of the entrance ramp. They make their way down to the ring taunting to the crowd as they go. Once in the ring they surprisingly do not go for a microphone but instead start warming up in the corner.
King: Here they are JR. The greatest tag team in history. Named that by Mr. McMahon himself. So it must be true.
JR: I'm not sure I agree with Vince there King. But anyway they do look extremely focused. Kurt Angle could be in trouble here tonight King.
King: You only just realized that JR?
"Medal" hits to a big pop as The Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle appears from behind the curtain. He too looks extremely focused as he stops at the top of the ramp and shoots his arms in the air as the pyro go off behind him. He then makes his way down to the ring staring right at The New Age Outlaws.
JR: And if any man can beat two other guys it's this man King. He's a machine, and has been ever since he joined the company late last year.
King: I'll give credit where credits due. He did win the Royal Rumble match, i'll give him that. But I still don't think he's as good as everyone makes him out to be.
Kurt Angle vs The New Age Outlaws
After around fifteen minutes of constant tags from The Outlaws, and only a few spurts of Angle offense every now and then, Road Dogg had Angle in the corner. He looked around the arena and at his partner Billy Gunn before unloading a left, and then a right, and then a left, and then one more right, before stepping back, dancing around, and then throwing a knockout blow at Angle. However Angle ducked and hit Road Dogg with an Angle Slam. Billy Gunn then ran in to the ring and received the same move as his partner. Kurt Angle pulled both of his straps down and let out a scream and just as he was about to lock the Ankle Lock on Road Dogg, X-Pac and Triple H ran down to the ring and took him down from behind with a forearm to the back. Th ref called for the bell immediately handing Angle the win by Disqualification.
Winner: Kurt Angle via Disqualification @ 16.01
X-Pac and Triple H continue the beat down on "The American Hero" as Billy Gunn and Road Dogg recover to join in. X-Pac and Road Dogg grab an arm each as Triple H hammers away at the defenseless Angle. Then all of a sudden the lights go out. When they come back on The Big Show and The Undertaker are standing behind the D-Generation X members. X-Pac and Road Dogg turn around first and are met with a Double Chokeslam from The Big Show. Triple H and Billy Gunn then swing around and were hit with the same move from The Undertaker.
King: What! What have we just seen JR?!
JR: I have no idea King. But it looks like The Undertaker and The Big Show just came to the aid of Kurt Angle.
King: But what for? What are the reasonings behind what just went down?
JR: I'm as confused as you are King. Unfortunately that's all we have time for tonight. Hope you all join us again this Thursday for some more WWF action!
The camera fades to black as The Big Show and The Undertaker look down at the unconscious bodies of their victims.
END SHOW
