His reign was booked terribly though, he deserved so much better

But I do feel like Jericho's dragging of her in years prior kind of established as her as an easy target

EXACTLY.

Which is what I like about this dynamic so much.

Trips went to war with Jericho to defend her honor.

Now he sees it, supposedly, so she sides with her original tormentor, who injured her husband, to get back at him for turning on her. It’s so layered.

Real question... how many WWE world champs before Jericho looked as incompetent as him? I mean heels were already being slimy and cheating to win, but so much of Jericho's run was just him getting lucky to survive matches, and losing quite frequently.

Had any world champ in WWE looked like such a chump before this?

Angle comes to mind but I don't think it was as bad for his entire title reign

IDK about before, but Miz modeled himself after Jericho to a tee.

It was Jericho’s role. He was never gonna be believable as a bad ass when Austin, Rock and Triple H were his opponents.

I was a kid so I don't know, and not really went back until now to rewatch.

There have been a handful since, but I don't think there were any before him that looked so constantly outmatched

Miz's reign sucked too though

Maybe some of those pure transitional champions in the 60s and 70s that held the title for a few days inbetween year long reigns
