Jericho was a chicken shit weasel champion. He wasn’t meant to look like a threat. The point of his character was he wasn’t the Rock, Stone Cold, Trips or Angle.

And storyline with Triple H’s return was far bigger than Jericho being champion. It needed to be the focus.

The pop he got upon his return meant his storylines needed to be the orbit everything orbited to setup his run after he won the belt at X8 and make his a star.

And yes, the booking in that angle was brilliant.

Jericho and Triple H feuded throughout all of 2000 and 2001. Mostly stemming from Jericho calling Stephanie names like bottom-feeding trash bag ho and whatnot.

Come to 2001, and Jericho hurts Triple H in the midst of his mega heel push with Austin as the Power Trip.

WhEn Triple H returns the dynamic interestingly changed when Triple H receives a massive babyface pop and the audience solidly gets behind him.

The problem being the still hated his wife Stephanie and now the person who put him on the shelf was this sniveling chicken shit heel so the sides have changed.

So a feud that started over Triple H defending his wife’s honor completely transforms into a work of futility when he learns his wife is a lying no good slut that lies about getting pregnant to manipulate him into staying.

So to spite him she sides with the man who once pointed out her breast job on live tv and on a jumbo screen in front of millions of fans around the world and the man who put her husband on the shelf for months.

Full circle booking done to perfection. I loved it.
