It's interesting to me that they retired the Hardcore Title later this year when it was having a bit of a resurgence on Raw this year at least from my memory, I remember them doing a few of those time limit matches and such

I've not looked into it, but Raw must have changed writers around the time Bischoff takes over. They must not have cared about hardcore matches, but then again all the brands reduced their belts down tags, world title and CW(sd)/women's(Raw).

It was so many sudden changes that it feels like it to me too, other than Heyman booking SmackDown starting in July or maybe June, I don't really know who was writing Raw this year or even SmackDown currently
