That's right: The Miz. I don't care if he's off shooting The Marine Part XL or on the precipice of paternity leave. It doesn't matter that he's not in contention for a world title any time soon, or that he's left his poor Miztourage of Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel to fend for themselves during his absence. He is still a leader. In fact, he's been the de facto leader of Raw for most of the past several months, stepping up when others were hurt or stuck in storyline limbo, taking his licks against the biggest names in the biz and coming out scathed but frequently hoisting Intercontinental gold above his shoulders. Mike Mizanin and that prestigious belt have become synonymous over his frankly illustrious decade-plus career, itself an improbable manifestation of a publicly documented quest to flower from Midwest naïf to eponymous sports entertainer.

Uh, look I love The Miz and all, but him winning is bullshit. His 2016 year was far better than his 2017 year (Talking Smack promos, feud with Ziggler, feud with AJ at the start of the year, winning the IC title night after WM and having a long-ass streak with it with his beautiful wife returning to WWE screens. Either Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, AJ Styles or Samoa Joe should have been WWE wrestler of the year IMO.

I'd say Miz is the MVP of Raw segments, he knows how to get people invested into a promo/segment that originally had nothing to it. We all know he's not the best in-ring performer, but at times I think that just adds to his heel persona, as every great wrestler gets cheered automatically anyways. Miz is one of the only heels nowadays that actually get legit heel heat.
With that being said, I wouldn't rank him #1 of the entire year as I believe that honor would go to either Roman Reigns or AJ Styles for the second year in a row, as I feel like both of them hustled and delivered the most this year.

It's just a Rolling Stone list tho, I see it as a little bone to throw towards Miz for his work. So I'm happy for him

I'd say the Hell in a Cell match was the GOAT.

As for The Miz being wrestler of the year, I agree. He had an awesome year, was IC champion almost all year long, best promo of the company and has a awesome wife... MIZ IS AWESOME.

The Miz is a guy who a case can be made for. The past two years for him have been great years for him and are some of the best of his career.

For me, in WWE, I'd put:

Wrestler of the Year: AJ Styles. He had two WWE title runs, a US title run and multiple matches which stole the show at PPVs.
Runner-Up Wrestler of the Year (Male): Braun Strowman, for sure, he's had a breakout year
Runner-Up Wrestler of the Year (Female): Pick 'Em – Asuka. Undefeated and badass. Bliss is probably top three for women for sure.
Tag Team of the Year: The Usos, absolutely. They have had a killer year.
Comeback of the Year: Kurt Angle. Jinder Mahal...I mean, is it a comeback if he never had anything to come back to?
One-Night-Only Face Turn of the Year: Neville, it was absolutely WONDERFULL!
Overdue Title Run of the Year: Natalya
Most Overdue Yet-to-Be Title Holder of the Year: Nia Jax
Most Welcome Loss of Sanity of the Year: Matt Hardy

I'm actually really happy they won an award. Despite gamesmanship meaning "the art of winning games by using various ploys and tactics to gain a psychological advantage," and The Ascension haven't won shit this year.
