After years of speculation, The Vigilante, Sting, will finally compete inside a WWE ring at WrestleMania 31, where he will face the very cornerstone of WWE, Triple H.

The enigmatic Sting has been a thorn in the WWE COO’s side since making his unannounced debut at Survivor Series in November, thwarting The Authority’s power plays on day one. The onetime Franchise of WCW caused The Authority to temporarily lose control of WWE, then helped John Cena win back the jobs of popular Superstars Dolph Ziggler, Ryback and Erick Rowan on Raw in January. Seemingly drawn out of the shadows, Sting has taken it as his duty to combat Triple H & Stephanie McMahon’s brand of corruption.

During a face-to-face showdown at WWE Fastlane, the fate of these warriors’ rivalry was made clear. After Sting used his baseball bat to cut off an attempted sledgehammer attack by Triple H, Sting pointed to the WrestleMania 31 sign in a symbolic challenge.

WrestleMania 31’s historic clash pits two of sports-entertainment’s most decorated and influential competitors against each other. The Game is a 13-time World Champion, a former Royal Rumble Match winner and a King of the Ring victor, in addition to his current role on WWE’s executive team. His opponent, known in some circle as simply The Icon, captured the WCW World Championship six times, in addition to countless other accolades, and was famously the leader of WCW in the organization’s years-long war against the New World Order.

Since WCW’s closing in 2001, fans have long wondered if and when Sting would finally compete in WWE. At WrestleMania 31, that next chapter in Sting’s fabled story will be written.

Will The Vigilante, in his very first WWE match, restore balance to WWE when he locks horns with Triple H at The Showcase of the Immortals? Or will the ever-sly and ruthless Cerebral Assassin stop this threat to his power dead in its tracks?

Well here we are: 14 years after WCW closed we finally get Sting inside a WWE ring. Not the match we was expecting, but the novelty is still cool nonetheless. Just don't mention his time in that other company.

Would have been a good time for WWE to finally mention TNA (even though I think they did in Mr. McMahon's podcast).

Looking forward to this match. The build has been good even though I want it to shy away from being a dream match and more about Sting not wanting to see the injustice that is The Authority anymore.

There is no way Sting came back to WWE (or ever) to lose. I've got all my figurative money on this.
