NXT Updates (Wednesday, August 8, 2018):

nxt_north_american_championship_png_by_darkvoidpictures_dc8cz6r-pre.png

For the last three weeks, William Regal has conducted a Round Robin tournament to crown an inaugural NXT North American Champion. The rules are re-explained again by the commentary team of Byron Saxton and Vic Joseph:
There are two pools of four competitors, eight total
Pool A: Wrestler 1, 2, 3, and 4
Pool B: Wrestler 5, 6, 7, and 8

Each wrestler in their designated pool wrestle each other once. Pinfall victories will count as 2 points, submission victories will count as 3. DQ/count-out victories will count as 1 point, while wrestlers who suffer DQ/count-out losses will lose 1 point. At NXT Takeover in Brooklyn next month, the wrestlers with the most points in their respective pool will compete to become the inaugural NXT North American Champion.

The tournament continues tonight.

Tom Lawlor and Josh Woods, tag team partners, squared off and it is Lawlor who locks in a Rear Naked Choke on Woods who has to tap out. Lawlor secures 3 points, and pending the Aldis/Hayes match, leads the standings!

Finley and Swann, who haven't received a single point the entire tournament, square off to make sure there's no goose egg. It's Finley hitting Acid Drop, a corner springboard cutter, to top Swann and earn 2 points! Byron Saxton mentions this could be an "arrival moment" for Fit's son.

Nick Aldis tops Carmelo Hayes with King's Lynn Cloverleaf, securing 3 points with the submission and the top spot in his pool.

Dijak and Tommaso Ciampa went head-to-head tied at 4 points. After a brutal fight goes to the ringside area, they fight to the curtain and Ciampa avoids a Discus Big Boot, only to hit a running knee strike. Ciampa hears the count is at 8 and darts to the ring, sliding in like at home base, and gets in before 10. Ciampa, winning by count out, wins a point and Dijak loses a point. Ciampa wins his pool!

Tommaso Ciampa's confronted by Nick Aldis as a close-up shot of the North American Championship is shown.

Keith Lee completely destroys Austin Theory to send a message Andrade's way, his opponent at NXT Takeover in two weeks.

Following last week, a 6-Pack Challenge decides who challenges Kairi Sane for the NXT Women's Championship at Takeover. The Clink's Britt Baker and Bianca Belair facing one another, along with Mia Yim and Tegan Nox who debuted last week in a tag team win, and Chelsea Green and Ember Moon who have helped Sane against The Clink in recent months. It's Bianca Belair who tops Tegan Nox with the K.O.D. and Britt Baker looks on envious of her teammate who secures a title match at NXT Takeover.

In the main event, the Guerillas of Destiny try securing a tag title match at NXT Takeover by facing the Street Profits, with Marshe Rockett and Adam Cole at ringside respectively. As Cole tries to help his Industry friends cheat, Marshe Rockett comes over and out comes Pete Dunne to jump the reigning NXT Champion! This distraction allows Tama Tonga to pull out the brass knuckles to knock out Angelo Dawkins, covering him for the cheap win.

And with that, all the championship matches are confirmed for NXT Takeover:
Adam Cole(c) vs. Pete Dunne for the NXT Championship
Cedric Alexander & Moose(c) vs. Guerrillas of Destiny for the NXT Tag Team Championships
Kairi Sane(c) vs. Bianca Belair for the NXT Women's Championship
Nick Aldis vs. Tommaso Ciampa for the inaugural NXT North American Championship

Round Robin tournament final standings -
Pool A:
Nick Aldis (8 points)
Tom Lawlor (6 points)
Carmelo Hayes (2 points)
Josh "The Goods" Woods (0 points)

Pool B:
Tommaso Ciampa (5 points)
Dijak (3 points)
Dave Finley (2 points)
Rich Swann (0 points)

AUGUST 9 2018

205 Live kicks off with Cruiserweight Champion Ace Austin coming to break the news: he's going to NXT Takeover a week from Saturday to defend his title against NXT superstar Dinastia. Austin believes this will be an easy task and he can't wait to put Dinastia in his place, making himself the Ace of the Cruiserweights and "the Developments." NXT superstar Rich Swann heads out and says he was visiting friends in the back and doesn't take that comment well, "the developments." Ace Austin mocks Swann failing to score a single point in the Round Robin tournament, but says Swann can do something about it, and Rich Swann agrees to face Ace Austin in the main event tonight.

Flip Gordon (1-0), Mansoor (1-0), & Mustafa Ali (1-0) vs. Kip Sabian (0-1), Marty Scurll (0-1), & Rohit Raju (0-1)
In the first ever 6-man tag match for 205 Live's history, following the attack by Sabian and Scurll last week, their antics backfire as Flip Gordon hits the Star Spangled Stunner on Raju to win as Sabian and Scurll already high-tailed it up the ramp.

After the match, Sabian and Scurll lock eyes with Mansoor and Ali who stand their ground in the ring.

Vic Joseph and The Brian Kendrick get hype for the main event tonight with NXT superstar Rich Swann in the house to face Cruiserweight Champion Ace Austin. But right now, the Singh Brothers debut after a vignette of them air!

Samir Singh (0-0) & Sunil Singh (0-0) vs. Jack Gallagher (1-0) & Mark Andrews (1-0)
The Singh Brothers look really impressive but it's Gallagher hitting a Shotgun Dropkick on Sunil to seal the win.

A third straight vignette airs for El Hijo del Fantasma, referencing he was wrongfully blackballed from the industry and had to fight underground just to continue making a living. But now that he's in 205 Live, that will be something he never worries about again.

Ariya Daivari (0-1) vs. Dinastia (1-0)
Dinastia looks ahead to his match against Ace Austin at NXT Takeover, but he makes easy work of Ariya Daivari with the Dynasty Driver.

The camera catches Dinastia after the match on the ropes, signaling a title across his waist.
A replay of last week's debut of Tyler Bate airs, aligning himself with Dean Malenko, ahead of his match against Tony Nese.

Tony Nese (0-1) vs. Tyler Bate (0-1) w/Dean Malenko
Tyler Bate makes up for his loss against the Cruiserweight Champion last week, and the guidance of Malenko seems to help, as Bate hits the Tyler Driver and beats Nese.

Confirmed for next week is a major match: Sammy Guevara versus TJ Perkins. This big announcement is ahead of the Cruiserweight Champion in action against another NXT superstar.

Ace Austin (2-0) vs. Rich Swann (0-0)
Before Austin defends the title against Dinastia at NXT Takeover next weekend, he faces NXT superstar Rich Swann and sends a message by putting Swann away with The Fold.

Just like Ace Austin did last week, Dinastia's music interrupts the winning celebration of the champion. Dinastia comes out to the stage, signals the title around his waist, and points toward the champion as 205 Live draws to a close.

>> The Championship Scramble is back in WWE after 10 years. Kevin Owens defends the WWE Championship amongst Baron Corbin, Cody Rhodes, Finn Balor, and reigning United States Champion Bobby Lashley. It's known this was a change over the last week. While several directions were pitched, this is the one that (surprisingly) won. The Scramble wasn't highly touted ten years ago, so it'll be interesting to see if they alter the match concept from Unforgiven 2008.

Creative had to move things around with the absence of Emperor Roman Reigns. It's not the first modifications they've had to make, with Randy Orton also out of action. Both Reigns and Orton were supposed to be big pieces on the SummerSlam card.

>> The Usos competed on SmackDown for a second time in three weeks, and will compete for the WWE Tag Team Championships at SummerSlam. There's rumors going around that the Trios division might be in trouble of going extinct, so this might be an opportunity to bring a tag team division back to Raw.

It's also important to note prior to the leukemia diagnosis, Roman Reigns and The Usos were set to win the Trios Championships before 2018 ended.

>> Edge and Christian's title feud continues to get more personal. With Christian's appearance at Edge's Toronto home, it got intense. However, some verbiage Christian used didn't sit well with USA executives. In edited footage, Christian's "raw dog" comment was taken out, as well as the final line Christian made before entering the home of Edge's mother. It's unclear if there will be further ramifications for this promo airing.

>> Tensions seem to be effecting The Clink early on in their NXT run. Bianca Belair challenges Kairi Sane at NXT Takeover, and while Sane is the favorite to retain, this might set up internal struggles within the group of Belair, Britt Baker, and Sonya Deville.

>> Executives liked the Round Robin tournament that took place over the last month for the inaugural NXT North American Championship. It was touted as something different that could make its way, in some variation, to the main roster.

>> A couple weeks ago, Flash Morgan Webster was scheduled for a match that Mark Andrews would replace him in. According to reports, Webster is having issues with his visa, preventing him from coming back to the United States.

>> Rich Swann is the latest NXT superstar to compete on 205 Live, doing so in a losing effort to Cruiserweight Champion Ace Austin. It's understood that 205 Live will likely use several NXT talents in the coming months to add legitimacy to the brand, along with the deepening pool of NXT talent.

AUGUST 13 2018 ~ MONDAY NIGHT RAW
Greensboro, North Carolina

Monday Night Raw begins with a tribute to Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. The Anvil passed away earlier today at age 63.

Following the tribute and a standing ovation from the crowd, the United States Champion Bobby Lashley begins the show saying he didn't take too kindly to Owens saying he was the best champion on Raw. After this Sunday at SummerSlam, Lashley vows to be the only champion on Raw. Finn Balor heads out with Jordan Devlin and reminds Lashley that he lost to him a couple weeks ago, and didn't even pin Owens last week, so he's not that worthy of being United States Champion, let alone WWE Champion. Balor challenges Lashley for his United States Championship tonight! Cody Rhodes walks out and says if they want to compete for the United States Title, do it at SummerSlam and stay away from the WWE Championship picture. Rhodes calls out Baron Corbin after last week and demands he ride down to the ring for a fight... before things escalate, JBL walks out instead. The GM says he won't let things break down this week into chaos. For tonight, it'll be Cody Rhodes versus Baron Corbin... AND Bobby Lashley will defend his United States Championship against Finn Balor! But with a twist... JBL mentions the winners of those two matches will meet in tonight's main event and determine who earns the advantage of entering the Championship Scramble last. JBL's interrupted by Baron Corbin, who instead of riding his bike, drags an official to the ring. Corbin throws the official in and stares down Cody Rhodes, ready to fight now.

Baron Corbin vs. Cody Rhodes
One of these men are fighting twice tonight, six nights ahead of their big WWE Championship opportunity. Corbin and Rhodes are giving it all they have and it's a brutal assault as it finishes with Corbin's End of Days being countered with a Cross-Rhodes... and Cody holds on to stand up to hit Cross-Rhodes for a second time and connects. This gives Cody a huge win!

The crowd rises to its feet after Cody Rhodes beats The Lone Wolf and Rhodes will move on to face either Bobby Lashley or Finn Balor later this evening.

Michael Cole and Paul Heyman break down tonight's show, including the United States Championship match announced earlier by JBL, Finn Balor challenging Bobby Lashley. Elias Samson and Rusev face Dolph Ziggler and a partner of Ziggler's choosing. Becky Lynch and Rubi Riot come face-to-face with a "no contact" clause ahead of their I Quit match on Sunday. And in preparation for their WWE Tag Team Championships match, we renew a historic rivalry as The Usos face The New Day in friendly competition.

Backstage, WWE Champion Kevin Owens runs into JBL's office and takes exception to not having the chance to be the fifth entrant of the WWE Championship Scramble. Owens demands to be fifth and tells JBL to give him that spot. JBL denies, and instead, makes Kevin Owens the first entrant of the match. Owens gets frustrated and he storms out.

Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin
The North Carolina native gets a huge ovation as this throwback to the mid-2000s gets a couple minutes before The Fallen rush into the ring and attack Matt and Shelton, leading to a disqualification.

Viktor orchestrates the attack by Aleister Black, Damian Priest, and Judas until The New Day's music hits and the WWE Trios Champions rush the ring. The two trios teams brawl before Viktor calls off the hounds. The New Day check on both Shelton and Matt before going to the back.

Backstage, Finn Balor stands by with Jordan Devlin who is hyping Balor up for the United States Championship match next, with the opportunity to go to the main event and earn the 5th entrance in the WWE Championship Scramble for SummerSlam. Balor begs Devlin to stay in the back because he wants to do this himself.

Bobby Lashley(c) vs. Finn Balor for the United States Championship
Six nights before these two wrestle to become WWE Champion in the Championship Scramble, these two are fighting to be United States Champion tonight. And with a bid to the main event on the line, Bobby Lashley's in trouble. Lashley gets dropkicked into the corner and falls in perfect place for the Coup de Grace. Finn Balor, having trouble breathing from the match, scales the top... until the fans gasp and Balor looks to the titantron. WWE Champion Kevin Owens is throwing Devlin around like a ragdoll and finishes him off with a Popup Powerbomb straight onto a crate. The distraction allows Lashley to stand up and throw Balor off the top rope into the ring, hitting his ribs, and gets up to a devastating Spear. The United States Champion covers and retains!

Bobby Lashley's music hits and Lashley grabs his United States Championship, hoisting it with pride, despite the distraction. The main event now is official: Bobby Lashley versus Cody Rhodes. The winner will be the final entrant to the WWE Championship Scramble at SummerSlam.

After the break, Finn Balor struggles to make it to the back to check on Jordan Devlin. Balor's struggling to breathe and the doctors suggest he get checked out as well. Balor looks worried as he has a decision to make.

In the ring, Elias Samson is with Scarlett, his tag team partner Rusev and Lana. Elias has the guitar in hand and lets everyone know Dolph Ziggler will pay for his advances towards Scarlett. Elias says infidelity is no joke, unlike Dolph's career. Elias says he can get anyone to team with him, but the result will be the same. It'll be Rusev Crush and Elias Smash! ... Charly Caruso invites her guest Dolph Ziggler into her spot backstage. Caruso asks if Ziggler has picked a partner. Ziggler admits he doesn't have a lot of friends in this business anymore, and he's probably deserved the animosity. Ziggler says they're in Greensboro tonight and had to look to one of his best friends. Ziggler says it was a partner of his choosing, and it didn't have to be a WWE superstar. Ziggler's invited someone who was born in Greensboro, his former tag team partner in FCW, Brad Attitude! Attitude walks into the frame and Ziggler says for one night only, they're back together again.

Dolph Ziggler and Brad Attitude head to the ring and Attitude gets a hometown ovation with his family pictured in the front row for his WWE debut.

Elias Samson & Rusev w/Scarlett and Lana vs. Dolph Ziggler & Brad Attitude
Dolph Ziggler handles most of the reps in the match, even though early on Brad Attitude takes Elias by surprise with a few takedowns. But once Rusev got in against Ziggler, it was a struggle and turned into a 2-on-1 assault. Once Brad Attitude got the hot tag, he and Elias went at it and was looking really good until Scarlett grabs the ankle of Attitude. He looks down at Scarlett and this allows Elias to attack Attitude from behind. Elias tags Rusev and throws Attitude into a heel kick. Rusev locks in The Accolade and Brad Attitude immediately taps out.

Rusev holds it in as his family watches on before Elias Samson finally convinces Rusev to let go. Elias, Scarlett, Rusev, and Lana all stand tall as Dolph Ziggler comes to on the outside, seeing what's happened. Ziggler apologizes to his family before checking on Brad Attitude in the ring.

A pre-recorded sit-down interview of Nikki Bella and Women's Champion Paige airs, conducted by Michael Cole. Paige begins to pat herself on the back for her work in the division, sharing she is a main reason behind the women getting more respect because they are WOMEN now and not divas. Nikki Bella says it wasn't about the division, it's about Paige being jealous of the Bella Twin success. Nikki accuses Paige of trying to slowly move the Bella Twins away and tainting their legacy, which in the end of the day, she'll take the Women's Championship at SummerSlam and only build upon that legacy. Things only get heated when Paige says the only way the Bella legacy can be tainted is if Brie gets pregnant and Nikki doesn't. This sets Nikki off and Michael Cole calls security to break the two up... six nights before their clash at SummerSlam!

Michael Cole and Paul Heyman recap what happened earlier and says things got intense, but another intense situation is Rubi Riot and Becky Lynch that has escalated to an I Quit match this Sunday at SummerSlam. Cole reminds of the "no contact" clause, so if there's a fight, the match will be canceled and possible suspensions. Becky Lynch goes in first and mentions she's surprised Rubi Riot has agreed to come tonight because of what she did to her arm last week. Becky promises she won't touch Rubi Riot tonight, because her goal this Sunday, is to end "Paige lite" once and for all. Rubi Riot comes out in a sling and Becky laughs. Rubi calls Becky a coward for attacking her last week, disregarding she was the one to actually interfere in Becky's match. Riot tells Lynch that if she makes it this Sunday, it'll be the end of Becky's career. Rubi tries convincing Becky this is her golden opportunity, and she sniffs blood in the water. Rubi gets really close to whisper in Becky's ear, saying Becky could end Rubi Riot's career right now and the doctors say any more damage to teh arm would end it. Rubi advises Becky to not give her time to heal... and as Becky hears the devil on her shoulder, Becky simply says "I'll kick your ass Sunday" and Becky Lynch walks off as Rubi Riot gets pissed she wouldn't push her over the edge... as we go to commercial.

The New Day come out and before their tag team match, they wish well to Matt Hardy and Shelton Benjamin. They send a message to The Fallen that they have their attention and this Sunday, they'll retain the WWE Trios Championships against The Fallen and will avenge them for what happened earlier tonight.

The New Day w/Kofi Kingston vs. The Usos
Xavier Woods demands the nod over Kofi Kingston because he's wanting to show The Fallen what they've done, but The Usos take advantage of the emotional Xavier Woods. And on the titantron, The Fallen have Matt Hardy tied up as Matt's wrists hang from a rope. The Fallen are taking lashes to Matt Hardy as The New Day all three rush to the back. The Usos follow and the official has no choice but to call this a double count-out, or a no contest.

After a commercial break, The New Day and The Usos are trying to find where The Fallen are, but are having no luck as they try saving Matt Hardy.

Michael Cole and Paul Heyman mention the SummerSlam card, that have added the WWE Trios Championship match. Plus, Dolph Ziggler faces Elias Samson on the Kickoff show. Previewing the Raw side of matches, they also have:
Becky Lynch vs. Rubi Riot in an "I Quit" match
Paige defends the Women's Championship against Nikki Bella
Kevin Owens defends the WWE Championship against Corbin, Rhodes, Balor, and Lashley in a Scramble Match

And notably on the SmackDown side:
The Usos challenge for the WWE Tag Team Championships against The Revival and champions Depths of Despair in TLC
Edge returns to the ring, challenging Christian for the WWE Universal Championship

But up next, Kevin Owens heads to join Michael Cole and Paul Heyman for the main event to see who is the fifth entrant for the WWE Championship Scramble this Sunday.

Bobby Lashley vs. Cody Rhodes in a non-title match
Lashley and Rhodes are going at it as Kevin Owens complains the entire time about entering first rather than fifth, saying he should be in this. Michael Cole also provides an update on Finn Balor, who's feared to have broken his ribs and is at the hospital for further evaluation. The match starts to draw to a close as Lashley looks ready for the Spear, but Rhodes sidesteps and Lashley slams his shoulder in the corner. Lashley stumbles back and Rhodes tries the Disaster Kick, but gets caught in a Full Nelson hold. Rhodes fights it best he can before Cody slowly fades and the official rings the bell.

Fans boo as Bobby Lashley gets his hand raised in victory and after his count-out victory over Kevin Owens last week, has beaten three of his four opponents ahead of this Sunday. Lashley points to the commentary table and signals he'll be a double champion after this Sunday and Raw goes off the air.

AUGUST 14 2018 ~ TUESDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN!
Greenville, South Carolina

SmackDown begins by Intercontinental Champion Jason Jordan speaking briefly about his title defense against Neville this Sunday at SummerSlam. Jordan says classic title matches have happened at SummerSlam, but before he can list them, Jinder Mahal interrupts. Mahal says his return opportunity was ruined last week and wants to make a statement that this the Modern Day Maharaja era and challenges Jason Jordan to a match next!

Jason Jordan vs. Jinder Mahal in a non-title match
It's not for the championship, but Jordan and Mahal are kicking off SmackDown only for Jason Jordan to get attacked by Neville!

Neville hammers in on Jordan and tries locking in Rings of Saturn, but Jordan eludes and wrestles Neville into a front chancery and begins throwing nasty knees into Neville before the challenger can dip. Jason Jordan chases Neville away.

Still in the ring, Jinder Mahal gets on the microphone upset about his return opportunity being ruined but Dean Ambrose's music hits. The Lunatic Fringe heads to the ring remorseful and he apologizes. He extends a hand, acknowledging the Modern Day Maharaja era, only to lure him in for a Dirty Deeds and a pop from the crowd!

Dean Ambrose calls for Seth Rollins to man up to his challenge last week but The Architect doesn't emerge. Instead, it's Bray Wyatt leading Erick Rowan out. Wyatt demands Rowan take out Ambrose, and Rowan reluctantly goes in. It's about 50-50 as Wyatt yells at Rowan to take out the inaugural WWE Universal Champion, but Ambrose starts getting steam and hits a Dirty Deeds! Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds and immediately gets hit in the back with a steel chair, symbolic of Seth's turn on The Shield in 2014. Rollins gets a few more shots to the back in before putting the chair down and hitting the Curb Stomp on the chair! Rollins stands tall over his opponent, leaving the question of the condition of Dean Ambrose heading into Sunday.

Tom Phillips and Corey Graves break down the card for tonight's show, including The Revival's Dash Wilder fighting Sheamus ahead of The Revival wrestling a triple threat TLC Match this Sunday. Charlotte and Sasha Banks meeting face-to-face ahead of their title match. But most notably, after Christian's disgraceful actions last week, Christian and Edge have agreed to meet for a contract signing tonight with the note: no physical contact, or the match will be called off. But up next is an edition of MizTV.

The Miz welcomes everyone to MizTV and introduces his guest, someone he's known for the longest time, but never saw that intensity from this man... Daniel Bryan. The Miz compliments Bryan, but Bryan just voices his frustrations with the dynamic of Sami Zayn and Boogeyman, because both Miz and Bryan agree there's clearly something going on. The Miz decides to lay an offer up. This Sunday, Miz and Bryan team up to face the "BoogeyZAYN" team. Daniel Bryan's against the idea of teaming with The Miz when Sami Zayn comes out. Zayn swears there's nothing going on and when Bryan asks why Zayn threw the towel in, things get intense, when Zayn says he has compassion. Zayn told Bryan he went too far, and then Bryan shouts down Sami's throat and ACCEPTS the match! Daniel Bryan and The Miz team up this Sunday? WOW! The unlikeliest of allies in Brooklyn.

Daniel Bryan vs. Sami Zayn
The Miz joins Phillips and Graves at commentary for this match, excited for the newfound attitude of Daniel Bryan and as he fights Sami Zayn, the BOOGEYMAN appears and spooks The Miz away from the commentary team. The Miz runs into the ring and hides behind Daniel Bryan, as Bryan isn't up for the nonsense and pushes The Miz away and gets hit with a Helluva Kick! The Miz sees Boogeyman approaching and runs through the crowd as Zayn covers Daniel Bryan.

Sami Zayn gets up to see The Boogeyman staring through the crowd as The Miz is long gone. Boogeyman looks back at Sami Zayn and Zayn isn't sure what to think, but he rolls out of the ring and scatters to the back away from his partner this Sunday.

Renee Young asks The Revival about the match announcement of their title opportunity. Scott Dawson says they're unhappy with two things: The Usos being involved in this match and it being a TLC match. Dawson said Edge and Christian won the first two triple threat tag TLC matches and now they're bitter enemies, so it doesn't sit well with them, considering they'll be victorious this time around. Wilder says they are glad they'll be WWE Tag Team Champions at this time next week for a third time, and he plans to show Sheamus why later today.

Matrons Champion Charlotte starts in the ring to talk about the long history she's had with her challenger this Sunday, Sasha Banks. The crowd chants for Tessa Blanchard, as Charlotte declares she's done with Tessa. Charlotte's interrupted by her challenger Sasha Banks, who compares herself as the underdog and says she only held that title for 35 days and it's time to have a much lengthier reign. Both are interrupted by Tessa Blanchard and the crowd pops. Tessa brings the announcement, since Sasha was the special guest referee at WrestleMania for her title match, she's been named the referee for this Sunday's match. Banks and Charlotte aren't sure what to think but the fans love this announcement!

Carmella vs. Tessa Blanchard
After Tessa drops the big bombshell, she has a challenge against Carmella. With Charlotte and Sasha looking on from opposite sides, Tessa hits Magnum! Tessa covers Carmella, but Charlotte pulls the official out and lays him out with a forearm. The fans boo as Charlotte rips the referee shirt off the official and Sasha comes over. Sasha hits a codebreaker on the outside on the champion! Not seeing any official, Sasha takes the loose shirt and puts it on as she slides in. Tessa, not sure what to do, locks in the Figure 4 and Carmella has no choice but to tap.

Sasha Banks rings the bell and raises the hand of Tessa Blanchard. Charlotte comes in and floors Sasha from behind with a cheap shot and starts kicking at her challenger before Tessa pushes the champion off. Charlotte and Tessa stare down before Tessa tells Charlotte to save it for Sunday as the champion obliges and leaves the ring.

Dean Ambrose is in the trainers room and Renee Young comes by to get an update on Ambrose. Ambrose insists he's fine but Seth Rollins won't be. Kurt Angle walks in and asks if they need to postpone the match and Ambrose adamantly denies it. Ambrose says he wants to put an end to Seth Rollins this Sunday, so either he keeps the match, or Angle will be the one split open on the concrete. Angle reminds Ambrose who he's talking to, but the match is still on at SummerSlam if he can get cleared.

Michael Bennett comes out with Maria and the self-proclaimed "Silver Medalist" is excited to get on a winning streak on SmackDown, because while this year he's not on SummerSlam, he intends to be the main event of next year's show. Answering the toll is BIG SHOW! Big Show's is scheduled to make several media appearances this week for SummerSlam, and now he's here on SmackDown.

Big Show vs. Michael Bennett w/Maria
Do you need to know how this went? Big Show decimates Michael Bennett and after tossing the self-proclaimed Silver Medalist around the ring, Big Show finishes Bennett off with a chokeslam to extend the losing skid.

A video package plays for Edge and Christian as they contract signing looms, showing the best friends turning to bitter enemies the last few weeks.

Kurt Angle's back in his office and approaches Zelina Vega from NXT. Angle asks what he can do for her, when Zelina mentions that her client Andrade "Cien" Almas is competing this weekend at NXT Takeover and while his rights are exclusive to SmackDown, Angle needs to watch closely this Saturday and considering calling up Andrade to the main roster "very soon." Zelina calls Andrade a star already, as opposed to a star in the making, and Angle nods saying he'll keep an eye out.

Dash Wilder w/Scott Dawson vs. Sheamus
Sheamus has gotten familiar with 2-against-1 odds recently with his run-ins with the Maple Leaf Mafia. Sheamus fights but the underhanded and dirty tricks by The Revival are top notch. It isn't until Sheamus looks to be getting ready for a Brogue Kick that Dawson tackles him from the side and causes a disqualification.

As the official calls for the bell, The Revival continue tackling Sheamus. The WWE Tag Team Champions, Akam and Rezar, run down to attack The Revival. Tye Dillinger and Tyler Breeze run down and join in on the attack, making it 4-on-3 and the odds have caught up to the Depths of Despair... until Cesaro's music hits. Cesaro runs in with a steel chair and as he slides in and starts swinging, everyone dips. The Revival and Maple Leaf Mafia dip when Cesaro and Sheamus shake hands, to the dismay of everyone!

After a commercial break, Kurt Angle stops Cesaro and Sheamus. Angle realizes the Maple Leaf Mafia are a thorn in their sides and wants to see if they'll put their differences aside for a tag match this Sunday. Cesaro and Sheamus hesitate before Cesaro's the first to agree, and then Sheamus obliges. It's official for this Sunday! Cesaro and Sheamus team up to wrestle Maple Leaf Mafia.

Tom Phillips and Corey Graves get excited for this Sunday's event for SummerSlam and more-so for the contract signing to happen up next between Edge and WWE Universal Champion Christian.

The ring is set up and out comes Jeff Hardy! Jeff Hardy gets the crowd hype.

Jeff Hardy: "CREATURES! SummerSlam is this Sunday, Brooklyn, New York. Kurt came to me earlier today and asked I be the enforcer of this contract signing. The WWE Universal Championship is on the line this Sunday, two guys I know very well. Christian is the champion but Edge has his first match in more than seven years."

Christian heads out before he's introduced and gets on the microphone, sitting down and propping the title on the table.

Christian: "Jeff, get over yourself. You're not out here to enforce anything. You're out here to latch onto my success. 'The Charismatic Enigma' Jeff Hardy isn't on the second-biggest event of the year, 'Captain Charisma' and WWE Universal Champion Christian is. I'm on the second-biggest event of the year because I won at the biggest event of the year, WrestleMania. I forced Kurt Angle, our noble general manager, into retirement. You lost to a kid under 200 pounds.

"You're out here to keep yourself relevant, to get yourself on television. You're out here latching on my success, just like Edge. You're out here to try to keep me in a shadow, just like Edge. But if you are genuinely interested in this match Sunday, I have some pull. I can get you tickets to wh-

Jeff Hardy: "Shut the HELL UP!"

Fans roar for Jeff Hardy.

Jeff Hardy: "I'm so sick of you man. What happened? You're so bitter. You got everything you've ever wanted. You're the WWE Universal Champion. You're the main event of SummerSlam. You're making a lot of money. But why are you being such an ass?

"This isn't about me. This is about you and your opponent at SummerSlam, everyone welcome the Rated-R Superstar.. EDGE!"

Edge walks out to a huge roar from the crowd and after playing to the crowd and hugging Jeff Hardy, takes his seat across from Christian.

Christian: "Before we go any further, I just want to remind everyone here tonight. The fans, Tom Phillips, 'Mr. Enforcer,' and my opponent this Sunday, good ole Adam. If I am touched, with even a finger, SummerSlam is left without a main event. Your WWE Universal Champion will not compete. And Adam, your long-awaited return to the ring is void. It's canceled and none of the Brooklyn fans will EVER forgive you."

Edge can't help but laugh.

Jeff Hardy: "He has a point, Edge. That's why I'm here. If there's an-

Christian: "Shut up Jeff!"

Jeff looks down with disdain at Christian as the fans boo.

Christian: "Adam, you haven't been touched in more than seven years. You haven't taken a bump on this mat, on the concrete floor. You haven't been through a table. You haven't had your limbs contorted in unnatural ways. And you're glass. Your neck is glass. But this championship means everything to me. This is why I want pen to paper. I don't need you, your wife, your mother suing me for what I do to you this Sunday. I'm held harmless once you sign this contract. And I'm taking any means necessary to leave Brooklyn with MY WWE Universal Championship."

Edge looks aside and nods before picking a microphone up for the first time and the fans cheering.

Edge: "So if we're making this personal, I can call you Jay, right? This isn't Edge and Christian anymore, right? This is Adam and Jay. This isn't just about the championship, right? This isn't just about my first match in seven years, right?

"You decided to make this personal, didn't you? You were the one to mention Beth. You were the one to mention my girls. You were the one to make the trip to my mother's home. The same mother who took you in like her own. The same mother who cooked you many meals, showed up to the ballgames, and did all the things as if you were her child and you were my brother.

"Jay, you were my brother. This was already personal because of what Sunday means to me. Sunday signifies seven years of missed time. Seven years of hard work to get back here. I didn't take 'no' as an answer. I didn't take 'never again' as an answer. This is a very personal weekend. It's going to be hard. Yes, the bumps, the cracks, the agony. But that's not the hard part. I LOVE that part of this job. What's hard is the emotions that will come up. It's going to be an emotionally heavy evening. And don't worry, I'm not going to touch you tonight. But I'm going to make you cry this Sunday, and I'm taking your championship."

Christian: "You say all that now. And it wasn't I who made this personal, Adam. You did. What did you tell me seven years ago? What did you say? Do you remember?"

Edge is silent and Jeff is taken aback.

Christian: "Seven years ago, when your neck couldn't handle the pressure of being the guy, you came to me and said: this is yours now. Your body quit and you quit on this business. I was the next World Heavyweight Champion and had the Summer of Captain Charisma. You told me this was my show, my moment, my time. In those seven years, I've been here. I've been outworking everyone here and I'll be damned if I let you go back on your word. And I'll be damned if I let someone who hasn't executed one headlock in seven years take that from me."

Edge takes a moment for himself before putting the microphone to his mouth.

Edge: "You're right, I did. I said it was yours. You did win the World Heavyweight Championship, not once, but twice that summer. This was your show. This was your time. But ever since you lost to Randy back at SummerSlam seven years ago, up until now, you haven't done much else. What you have done is whine. You whined about Randy, you whined about Kurt Angle, you whined about me. Why? Because you feel threatened... and you should.

"When we broke into this business as The Brood, we were a team. We had each other. When we were Edge and Christian, we revolutionized this industry. It's no mistake that this Sunday, there's a triple threat TLC Match. We did that. He *pointing to Jeff* did that. Matt, Bubba, D-Von. And 18 years after we made history, it gets repeated this Sunday by some of the best tag teams today. The Usos, Depths of Despair, The Revival. We paved the way. We walked so those six guys could run.

"But when I made it big in 2005, 2006, you were cast aside. They picked who they wanted, and it wasn't you. You ran away and came back. When you did, I was untouchable. I was the Rated-R Superstar and you were still Marty Jannetty. The only way you did anything in this business is when I stepped away. I gave you the keys and I said run with it. That lasted, what? Three, four months?

"Fast forward to this year. At 44 years old, you finally figured it out. You get your only big singles win of your career at WrestleMania. You become WWE Universal Champion a month after WrestleMania. Sound familiar? And this Sunday you face the biggest test of your career. And just like seven years ago when you lost the title at SummerSlam and became irrelevant, the same happens this Sunday.

"Irrelevance scares you. Obscurity scares you. This Sunday scares you, because you've seen this movie before. I walk into Brooklyn as a man determined to get back everything he lost seven years ago. I walk out as WWE Universal Champion, proving they made the right decision ten-plus years ago. I'll leave 'The Rated-R Superstar' and the face of this show. You'll leave Jay Reso."

Edge slams the microphone down and signs the contract, sliding the contract aggressively towards Christian. Christian takes it all in as Edge stands up and goes to walk out of the ring before he gets to the ropes and Christian speaks.

Christian: "That's very fitting Adam. You're walking out of this ring a little early, eh? Like you walked out on these fans seven years too early?

"How long are you back for? You'll be here this Sunday, but as soon as I beat you, that's as quickly as you'll run off. You know this. Vince likes to bring the legends back. They'll lose to build their current stars and never be seen again. That's the narrative this time around. You're the washed-up legend living off his old fame and glory. I'm the current star, the current WWE Universal Champion, and I'm here for the long haul... unlike this guy."

Christian stands up and gets next to Jeff Hardy.

Christian: "See, the moment he lands in Brooklyn this weekend, he'll find a nice bar he likes and will send his drowning career into a downward spiral."

Jeff turns and shoves Christian before the champion kicks Jeff Hardy below the belt, flooring the contract signing enforcer. Edge quickly comes up.

Christian: "Not so fast, Adam. Remember, you touch me and you're staying home this weekend."

Christian grabs the chair from his seat and exits the ring. Christian then snags Jeff Hardy under the bottom rope and smashes Hardy in the back with a chair. Edge looks on from the ring as Christian takes a few more shots to a grounded Hardy.

Edge: "Jay, you stupid son of a *****. Sign this contract!"

Edge throws the contract and pen down to the ground and Christian smirks. Christian gets an additional microphone from the ringside crew.

Christian: "Be careful. You wouldn't want to lose your temper and ruin your big moment this Sunday."

Christian picks up his contract.

Christian: "I'll sign this when I'm good and ready. But for now, let me give you an up-close preview to how I'll send you off this Sunday at SummerSlam."

Christian lays in a few more shots before placing the chair underneath Jeff Hardy, symbolic of Edge and Christian's move the "con-chair-to." Christian goes back to get a second steel chair and by the time he gets back to Jeff Hardy, security have swarmed ringside to assure Christian doesn't get any closer. Christian holds the chair up and says he'll see Edge at SummerSlam, grabbing his title and walking away.

Edge: "Listen here, you prick. Come this Sunday with that contract signed. I'm not being held responsible for what I do at SummerSlam. I'll be responsible for carrying this show on my back just like I was responsible for carrying you your entire career. It's my first match in seven years, but I'm certain to make it the last of your career!"

Edge throws the microphone down and poses on the turnbuckle, and Christian raises his title up high, as SmackDown goes off the air.

NXT Updates (Wednesday, August 15, 2018):

Ahead of their NXT North American Championship match this Saturday, Aldis and Ciampa had singles matches against the runner-ups in the opposite pool. Tommaso Ciampa outlasted "Filthy" Tom Lawlor and finished him off with the Project Ciampa. Later on, Nick Aldis faced Dijak and thanks to Ciampa's distraction, Aldis lost and got hit with the Feast Your Eyes. After the match, Ciampa pounces on Aldis and hits a Project Ciampa on the exposed concrete floor of Full Sail.

Zelina Vega takes time to announce her client Andrade "Cien" Almas will defeat Keith Lee this Saturday and move on to the main roster. Keith Lee responds by making this a little interesting, saying if he wins, he takes Andrade's spot on their prospect list. Later in the show, William Regal is frantically on the phone and finds out Kurt Angle agrees to make the stipulation official.

The Clink seem to have an united front ahead of supporting Bianca Belair's title opportunity at NXT Takeover this Saturday. Britt Baker put it upon herself to have a match with Kairi Sane ahead of her defense, and the match ends with The Clink ganging up on Sane. A brawl breaks out as Chelsea Green and Ember Moon run out, and during this chaos, Belair accidentally knocks out Baker and turns into an Eclipse, followed by a InSane Elbow.

Throughout the evening, The Industry have matches to settle. After drawing names, Tevita Loa faces Pete Dunne, Tama Tonga faces Cedric Alexander, and Adam Cole faces Moose. Dunne put Loa away with the Bitter End, Alexander's Lumbar Check on Tonga was countered into a backslide pinfall, and Adam Cole faces Moose in the main event. Adam Cole avoids the Go 2 Hell and instead chops Moose down to a knee and hits the Last Shot to win a few nights ahead of the title defense against Dunne.

NXT Takeover Brooklyn this Saturday:
Adam Cole(c) vs. Pete Dunne for the NXT Championship
Cedric Alexander & Moose(c) vs. Guerrillas of Destiny for the NXT Tag Team Championships
Kairi Sane(c) vs. Bianca Belair for the NXT Women's Championship
Nick Aldis vs. Tommaso Ciampa for the inaugural NXT North American Championship
Andrade vs. Keith Lee
Ace Austin(c) vs. Dinastia for the Cruiserweight Championship

AUGUST 16 2018

205 Live kicks off with the announcement Ace Austin continues his conquest over NXT talent ahead of his title defense at NXT Takeover on Saturday. Ace faces Steve Marx later this evening. But right now Dinastia, the man who challenges Austin this Saturday, competes against Raul Mendoza.

Dinastia (2-0) vs. Raul Mendoza (0-1)
Mendoza falls to the Dynasty Driver that puts NXT's Dinastia at 3-0 on 205 Live heading into Saturday.

After the match, Ace Austin decides to step out to the ramp. The reigning Cruiserweight Champion simply tells Dinastia that he's not wanting to join NXT, a developmental brand. Ace Austin says he's the face of 205 Live and is going Saturday to show 205 Live is the big brand and NXT is the thing of the past. Austin says he always has an "ace" up his sleeve and he'll need to watch closely later tonight against another wrestler not cutting it in NXT.

Vic Joseph and The Brian Kendrick acknowledge Ace Austin's main event against Steve Marx, as well as the match between Sammy Guevara and TJ Perkins later this evening.

Kushida (1-0) vs. Swerve Strickland (0-1)
A respectful back and forth ends with Swerve hitting a Storm Cradle Driver and pinning Kushida, shaking hands with him afterwards in a sign of sportsmanship.

For the fourth week, a vignette airs for El Hijo del Fantasma. Fantasma brings up how he was blackballed in the industry, something he mentioned last week, and with a second chance at 205 Live, he believes there's new beginnings. He can be whoever he wants to be and will find freedom. He's the author of his own story.

Flip Gordon (2-0) vs. Rohit Raju (0-2)
Following their involvement in the six-man tag last week, Gordon and Raju go head-to-head and their fortunes continue. Flip hits the Star Spangled Stunner to advance to 3-0.

Backstage, Marty Scurll and Kip Sabian approach Mansoor and Mustafa Ali. They take exception to not even being involved in the decision last week, so they need to settle their differences 1-on-1: starting with Kip Sabian versus Mansoor next week. Mansoor accepts.

Sammy Guevara (1-0) vs. TJ Perkins (1-0)
This match doesn't disappoint and Guevara can't escape the TPJ Clutch and taps out.

The fans decide to give these two a standing ovation and we're about to see another handshake like earlier tonight, but Guevara slaps TJ Perkins' hand away and storms off upset.

Dean Malenko approaches Chavo Guerrero, taking issue with Tyler Bate not being on the card tonight. Chavo decides to put Bate in a match against Trey Miguel, the runner-up of this year's Cruiserweight Classic.

Also confirmed for next week is Mansoor one-on-one with Kip Sabian.

Ace Austin (3-0) vs. Steve Marx (0-0)
Ace Austin continues his conquest of NXT talent ahead of his title defense at NXT Takeover this Saturday against NXT's Dinastia. Ace finishes Marx off the same with The Fold.

After the match, Ace Austin hears an unfamiliar theme... it's William Regal! Regal, the NXT General Manager, is on 205 Live. Regal steps out with Dinastia and tells Ace Austin that the games end this Saturday and the Cruiserweight Championship will be carried with honor by the black-and-gold brand's Dinastia.

>> Reports suggest WWE officials are internally split on major decisions for both NXT Takeover and SummerSlam this weekend. It's unsure what matches they've yet to decide on, but they are said to be "high profile" matchups this weekend. With the changes to the SummerSlam card due to Emperor Roman Reigns being diagnosed with leukemia, one could wonder if they're undecided about the Championship Scramble match.

>> A name not familiar with the WWE Universe appeared and debuted on Raw: Brad Attitude. It's understood Attitude has not signed a WWE contract at this time, and with the show in North Carolina, he is a NC native and independent wrestler in the area. Brad is the real-life best friend of Dolph Ziggler, who he teamed with on Raw as they did in FCW together.

>> John Cena is not on the card for this weekend's SummerSlam. This makes two SummerSlam shows in the last three years (2016 & 2018) that Cena has been left off the card. There's no indication as to why he is currently off the show.

>> Though John Cena might not appear at SummerSlam, this hasn't ruled out any surprises this weekend, at NXT Takeover or SummerSlam.

>> There are rumors of Keith Lee taking Andrade's spot as a SmackDown prospect, but these are simply rumors and not confirmed. Andrade "Cien" Almas has been considered for a main roster call-up by the end of 2018.

>> Luke Harper is expected to return in the near future repackaged. With the present dysfunction on SmackDown between Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan, it could mean a brand switch for the former Wyatt Family member.

>> WWE is discussing bringing back a show like WWE Main Event or WWE Superstars to give low-card and NXT talent a chance to air matches on the WWE Network. They already compete in dark matches before Raw and SmackDown weekly, but they want an avenue to have them gain popularity and have more exposure. With Mondays through Thursdays already booked with action on cable or the Network, it's unclear where the matches will air.

August 18 2018

NXT Takeover: Brooklyn IV kicks off with a blockbuster tag team match for the titles!

Cedric Alexander & Moose(c) vs. Guerillas of Destiny for the NXT Tag Team Championships
A big tag match going down but it's Alexander hitting Tevita Loa with a Lumbar Check... yet Tama Tonga saves the match! Moose comes in and tries to send Tama Tonga to hell, but he pokes Moose in the eye and tosses the big man out. Alexander runs at Tama Tonga and gets a wicked clothesline before the Guerillas of Destiny step up and hit Guerilla Warfare to win their first titles in NXT!

Right before he goes out to face Keith Lee, Andrade "Cien" Almas gets a pep talk from Zelina Vega. She reminds Andrade after he defeats Keith Lee tonight and maintains his spot as a SmackDown prospect, he can take over the blue brand and become WWE Universal Champion. She markets the match Andrade versus Christian, or Andrade versus Edge, and he'll be the fastest to rise to the world championship.

Andrade "Cien" Almas w/Zelina Vega vs. Keith Lee
Keith Lee wows the Brooklyn crowd with his athleticism for his size and the crowd is fully behind the Limitless One. Andrade tries his best but he can't keep Keith Lee down. Once he starts to see his SmackDown prospect rights slip through his fingers, he takes drastic measures. As Keith Lee puts Andrade up for the Spirit Bomb, Andrade falls off and kicks Lee below the belt, in front of the official, causing the blatant disqualification.

The fans boo and Andrade simply attacks Keith Lee until he can hit a La Sombra. Andrade leaves with Zelina Vega, waving goodbye to the NXT Universe.

A 205 Live promo airs for the show airing on Thursday nights weekly, ahead of our Cruiserweight Championship match. Champion and 205 Live star Ace Austin defending against NXT's Dinastia. But welcoming Dinastia to the ring is NXT General Manager William Regal!

Ace Austin(c) vs. Dinastia w/William Regal for the Cruiserweight Championship
Ace Austin representing 205 Live defending his title against Dinastia and Dinastia is pulling out all the stops with Regal left amazed. As the match draws to a close, Ace Austin grabs a chair from the ringside area and William Regal grabs a hold of the chair to stop him. Ace and Regal pull before Ace shoves Regal to the ground. Ace looks back in the ring and hit with a SUICIDE DIVE! Dinastia sees his opening and gets Ace in the ring for the Bicycle Knee Strike but Ace Austin moves out of the way and hits The Fold! Ace covers Dinastia and wins the match.

As Ace Austin gets handed his Cruiserweight Championship, William Regal gets in the ring and turns Ace around to knock him out! Regal has his brass knuckles! The NXT General Manager lays Ace Austin out and helps Dinastia to his feet after a gutsy showing.

Prior to the biggest match of her career, Bianca Belair is getting ready and The Clink's Britt Baker and Sonya Deville walk up. Baker apologizes for being competitive and wants Bianca Belair to thrive tonight. Baker says she wishes her nothing but the best and wants her and Deville to be ringside tonight. Belair accepts the apology, but says she wants to do it on her own. Bianca Belair leaves for the ring.

Kairi Sane(c) vs. Bianca Belair for the NXT Women's Championship
Bianca Belair is starting to win over the crowd with her performance against Kairi Sane. Britt Baker and Sonya Deville step out from the curtain to see what's happening, and this catches Bianca's attention so Kairi Sane takes advantage and kicks Bianca shoulder-first into the corner and she falls. Kairi scales up and takes a brief moment to look at The Clink. They stand down and Kairi leaps for the InSane Elbow, MISSES! Bianca moves out and tries a rear naked choke, but Kairi flips over and the leverage has Bianca's shoulders down for a three!

The crowd's stunned as Kairi Sane retains her NXT Women's Title! Bianca Belair pops up upset as Britt Baker and Sonya Deville go to console her, but Bianca shoves Britt Baker out of her way and leaves on her own.

Andrade "Cien" Almas and Zelina Vega barge into William Regal's office, handing in everything, saying they're leaving for Tuesday Night SmackDown this week. Regal says not so fast... because Andrade lost via disqualification, the stipulation remains the same. Andrade's lost his rights to SmackDown and Keith Lee's rights are now the sole property of SmackDown. Zelina and Andrade flip before they storm out of the office and Andrade tells Zelina to fix this.

A video package airs for both combatants, competing to become the inaugural NXT North American Champion.

Nick Aldis vs. Tommaso Ciampa in the Round Robin Finals for the inaugural NXT North American Championship
Aldis and Ciampa put on one of the best NXT matches of the year! Several false finishes and it takes Aldis taking too long to lock in National Treasure, for Ciampa to pull Aldis back, head-first into an exposed turnbuckle earlier in the match. Aldis stumbles out and gets hit with Project Ciampa for the final blow.

The confetti falls for Tommaso Ciampa as he's handed the NXT North American Championship, the first of its history. Aldis struggles to leave the ring so he requires medical assistance, leaving Ciampa more time to celebrate his victory. As he celebrates, a theme song hits... it's Wardlow! Wardlow, someone who had his rights drafted by Raw, heads out and it appears Wardlow has signed with NXT.

Pointed out by commentary, Gunther (fka WALTER) is seen in the crowd, announced as the newer signing to NXT! Gunther, a wrestler from the UK, had his rights drafted by Monday Night Raw earlier this year. And in a matter of moments, two big signings for NXT are confirmed.

A video package airs for the main event in moments, as Pete Dunne tries to regain the NXT Championship and become a 2-time champion. During both their entrances, Dunne and Cole lock eyes with Gunther at ringside, showing they aren't intimidated by the newest signing.

Adam Cole(c) vs. Pete Dunne for the NXT Championship
This main event is everything you would expect. The crowd chants fight forever with these two in the main event. As the match draws to a close, Dunne ducks a Shining Wizard and opens up for Dunne to grab Cole's fingers and snap them, before executing a modified wrist lock. Cole's in trouble and Dunne lifts Cole up to his feet. Cole takes the opportunity to drive Dunne into the corner. This sandwiches the official in the corner, but Dunne still holds on to Cole's wrist and hits the Bitter End!

Dunne goes for the cover, but Cole rolls on instinct under the bottom rope and to the floor. Guerillas of Destiny run down and check on Adam Cole, in which Dunne responds by hitting a suicide dive on the outside! Tama Tonga takes the hit so Tevita Loa takes on Pete Dunne and is fighting before Dunne throws Loa into the steel barricade right in front of Gunther. Dunne turns his attention back to rolling Cole back in the ring when BAM! It's GUNTHER! Gunther grabs Dunne and throws him over into the commentator's lap. Gunther snags Dunne and hits a Crucifix Powerbomb on the ring apron before rolling Dunne into the ring and adjusting his suit. Dunne slowly rises to his hands and knees when he gets hit by the Shining Wizard! Tama Tonga nudges the official who crawls over and officially counts three for Adam Cole.

Adam Cole's music sounds and the crowd can't believe it. Gunther has affected the outcome of this main event, keeping the title on Adam Cole. Gunther heads to the ramp and looks back on the carnage he caused as Tonga and Loa help Cole to his feet and The Industry stands tall with all the gold after Takeover tonight!

(Originally, I had a message here saying I was going to rush through SummerSlam because I lost my draft and my health was in a bad way. I'm still not doing great health-wise, but as I got to writing, I enjoyed it. The kickoff show is still mostly recap, but I had a lot of fun writing this show and hope you all enjoy the same reading it.

I'm excited for the upcoming weeks in the BTB because I have a Google Doc full of ideas I want to execute. I'll potentially give you readers a guide moving forward into who these characters are and what they're doing currently, as there are significant differences from what they are in real life and the year is 2018 from a booker I advanced from late 2015, so there's a lot in this universe that is different.)

Elias Samson w/Scarlett vs. Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler was showing he still got it on the very first match of the evening, but it's Scarlett providing an alluring distraction to the official that allows Elias to smash Ziggler from behind with the guitar and securing a big win.

Daniel Bryan & The Miz vs. BoogeyZAYN
Miz and Bryan were struggling to get along, but everyone is trying to make sense of Boogeyman's antics this contest, including tag partner Sami Zayn. Sami's in trouble and Boogeyman ignores the "legal man" to come attack The Miz. Daniel Bryan allows it to happen, but the official doesn't. A moment later, The Miz and Sami Zayn get a hot tag in and Boogeyman/Bryan go at it with Daniel Bryan looking good. Bryan appears to be ready to put Boogeyman away with a Knee-Plus, but The Miz tags himself in. This is the tipping point as Miz and Bryan argue before Boogeyman tags Sami in, without knowing, and Zayn hits a Helluva Kick on The Miz! Bryan and Zayn make eye contact before Bryan dips and lets Sami Zayn pin The Miz in a bizarre tag match.

Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Maple Leaf Mafia
After just seeing Miz and Bryan fail to coexist, foes Cesaro and Sheamus don't have these issues and work seamlessly. While MLM brings a good fight, it's Cesaro opening the window for Sheamus to hit a Brogue Kick on Tyler Breeze to secure a win as a tag team.

The rest of the Kickoff focused heavily on the main stories for tonight's biggest party of the summer:
* Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins settling their differences, and animosity since 2014
* The return of the Championship Scramble match to declare a WWE Champion
* A triple threat tag team TLC match for the titles, revolutionized by the man who returns tonight...
* Edge is back after 7 years and wrestles his former best friend for the WWE Universal Championship

SummerSlam-2018.png

SummerSlam opens with its intro video highlighting several matches in store, focusing heavily on tonight's main event between WWE Universal Champion Christian and the Rated-R SuperStar Edge, making his in-ring return since a forced retirement in 2011. Tom Phillips and Corey Graves highlight some of what's to come tonight, and for the biggest event of the summer, the stars are here! Noting WWE fan and celebrity Jon Stewart is in attendance, as well as NXT General Manager William Regal are front row as SummerSlam gets started with a title match.

Jason Jordan(c) vs. Neville for the Intercontinental Championship
In the pre-match entrances, a replay is shown how Jason Jordan won the Intercontinental Title from Neville in which Neville's called a fluke and disgrace. Neville brought those frustrations into this match but it's Jordan's athleticism and grappling ability making him almost unbeatable. The action spills out on the floor but it's Neville hitting a corkscrew plancha on Jordan right in front of NXT General Manager William Regal. Neville gets in Regal's face and the respected vet didn't take too kindly to this, but this allows Jordan to swipe Neville's foot, incurring a broken nose from the guardrail and getting back in control.

Moments elapse in the match and Jason Jordan has a bloodied Neville in the ring, struggling to breathe and Jordan tries running through Neville, but hits his shoulder in the corner. Jordan backs away and gets a frankensteiner, setting up perfectly for the Black Arrow. Neville wipes the blood coming from the center of his face and scales to the top. Neville goes for Black Arrow but Jason Jordan raises his knees and tries a small package, only getting two! Jordan has the window and decides to lock in his mentor's signature move, the Angle Lock. Jordan gets it in but Neville counters, although it results in Jordan running over the official and laying out the referee. With no official and both men down, William Regal forces his way over the barricade. Regal checks on Jason Jordan who gets on his hands and knees, sliding him Regal's signature brass knuckles. Jordan is conflicted and after running it through his fingers, tosses it to the ground. Regal tells Jordan it's a big mistake but he's decked from behind by Neville! Neville looks out to the crowd, relieved, with a set of brass knuckles in his hand. Neville stuffs it in his trunks as he scales up top and Regal awakens the referee for Neville to hit a Black Arrow on the back of Jordan, for good measure, and Neville gets his Intercontinental Championship back.

Neville rolls out of the ring and William Regal hands Neville his newly won Intercontinental Championship. Regal gives his nod of approval as the two leave together, with soooo many questions about what this means for Neville's future on SmackDown and as the new Intercontinental Champion.

Footage from the first TLC Matches with The Dudley Boyz, Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian is aired for the fans to reminisce on some strong innovative matches that changed the game. At SummerSlam 2000, Edge and Christian won the first-ever TLC Match for the tag titles. Now, Edge and Christian will battle later tonight for the WWE Universal Championship in a match gone deeply personal. But for the TLC Match's 18th birthday, three of the top teams are doing battle: The Revival, Monday Night Raw's The Usos, and the WWE Tag Team Champions Depths of Despair.

Depths of Despair(c) vs. The Usos vs. The Revival in a TLC Match
for the WWE Tag Team Championships
A multi-man ladder match goes exactly how you'd expect: absolute chaos. Akam and Rezar with weapons doesn't bode well for anybody and this is how the match begins until The Usos and The Revival decide to take out the champions. A few spots this match include:
- Akam climbing the ladder to retrieve the titles, only to be triple-powerbombed by The Revival and Jimmy Uso to the outside through a bridging ladder
- Scott Dawson being suplexed on the back of two steel chairs, ailing his back for the rest of the match
- Jimmy Uso hitting an Uso Splash on Dash Wilder off a 20-foot ladder through a table on the outside, ramp-side
- A homage to a spot for the original 3 teams, as Jey Uso had his hands on the title, when Akam and Rezar pulled the ladder away, and on a ladder in the corner was Scott Dawson ready to SPEAR Jey Uso off to the mat! The crowd went NUTS!

A serious situation was unfolding outside the ring after Rezar was pushed off a ladder and through a table, but overshot and hit his head on the nearby steel steps. Rezar gets tended to and doctors decide its best to take him to the back immediately with blood gushing from his head... Moments later in the ring, The Revival are set up to climb the ladder and retrieve the belts to become 3-time champions. Dawson and Wilder climb both sides of the ladder until The Usos arrive with chairs and begin smacking The Revival down a rung with each chair shot. The two tag teams brawl before Akam brings a ladder in and knocks both tag teams down by charging. Akam sets up another ladder and starts climbing, but The Usos work together to push Akam's ladder for Akam to get caught up in the ropes. They dispose of a ladder to the outside and see Akam on the apron before hitting a Double Superkick, sending Akam through a table below. Jimmy hops outside to grab something when Jey is caught with a Shatter Machine by The Revival! The Revival get hype as they reset the ladder and start climbing. Jimmy peaks his head up from the timekeepers area and sees the ascent before sliding in the ring and using all his might to push the ladder, but The Revival dip before things get bad. The Revival beat up Jimmy Uso before trying a second Shatter Machine, but Jey is back up and hits Dash Wilder with a Superkick and that allows a Double Superkick on Scott Dawson! The Usos look, it's their moment! They get the ladder up in the center of the ring and both Usos climb up and as Wilder and Dawson climb towards the ladder, it's too late because The Usos from Monday Night Raw take the titles down!

The Usos celebrate at the top of the ladder, soaking it in with a hug before hopping down the ladder and posing with the titles on the second rope as the fans root for the now 6-time champions. The Revival can't believe it as The Usos exit with the WWE Tag Team Championships leaving with a Monday Night Raw team, leaving the SmackDown's tag team division in serious shambles right now.

Raw General Manager JBL is sitting comfortably in his office when Charly Caruso walks in for his thoughts on The Usos bringing the WWE Tag Team Champions to Monday Night Raw. JBL admits he won't know what to do with the Trios Champions, the Tag Team Champions, but he's proud of The Usos. JBL also takes this opportunity to hype the I Quit match up next between Rubi Riot and Becky Lynch - raising the stakes to this right now to Charly. JBL says the winner of this match will be the new #1 contender to the Women's Champion after tonight.

Becky Lynch vs. Rubi Riot in an "I Quit" Match
Very early on, Becky busts her nose and she is gushing blood in this I Quit match due to catching a stiff knee from Rubi Riot. Both women apparently knew the #1 contendership was on the line, but both just wanted to make the other suffer as well. In one spot this match, Becky tried breaking the announce table by hitting a leg drop on Rubi Riot, but the table didn't break and it presumingly hurt worse. Becky made up for it by hitting Rubi across the head with a monitor.

Towards the very end, Riot had control and couldn't get Becky to give up. After various chair shots, Becky wouldn't give up. Rubi even put the chair at Becky's throat, trying to get her to quit with the referee having the microphone at her throat, and Becky still wouldn't give up. Rubi Riot got upset and went for a Riot Kick, but Becky counters to a Bex-Plex attempt, where Riot finally countered it and won the reversals by hitting a Riot Kick finally. Rubi drags Becky Lynch by the boot to the edge of the ring and Riot hops out. Rubi gets under the ring and pulls out a kendo stick and then some handcuffs, smiling. Rubi gets Becky out of the ring and puts one cuff on the bottom turnbuckle stile and starts to put the other on Becky, but Lynch fights from it! Lynch fights for her life before slapping the other cuff on Rubi Riot! Her eyes get wide as Becky picks up the kendo stick, twirls it around, and goes to town. Rubi's screaming in pain and after that kendo stick breaks, Becky gets another kendo stick and just hammers away at Rubi Riot! The second kendo stick snaps and then Becky begins to stab Rubi with the split-end of the kendo stick. Becky goes to get a third kendo stick and before she can let loose, Rubi QUITS! The official gets in the way of Becky and calls for the bell.

Becky Lynch's music plays and just looks on as Rubi Riot's back, arms, and shoulders are messed up. Becky isn't sure what to make of it as she decides to drop the kendo stick and walk out of the arena with dried blood on her face. Becky doesn't care to celebrate, which is odd, especially considering she will face Paige or Nikki Bella for the Women's Championship in the near future.

Charly Caruso stands by with Nikki Bella, the #1 contender who just watched that on the backstage monitor. Caruso asks Nikki how she feels about what she just saw, and she is very outspoken about feeling disrespected by the likes of Becky Lynch, Rubi Riot, and Women's Champion Paige. Nikki says the Bella Twins took a divas division and built it to heights never before seen, with a reality show, great publicity, and were two of the best wrestlers on the entire roster. Now, people want to discredit their hard work and say they set the women back in WWE - which just isn't true. Nikki says tonight is more than just becoming champion, but about fighting for the Bella Twin legacy.

A video package highlights the 448-day reign of The New Day as WWE Trios Champions before the package is halted by the arrival of The Fallen, showing their decimation since arriving on Raw and their extraction of the "Big Red Monster" Kane. Now, the trios collide with The New Day's reign in more jeopardy than ever before up against the trio Viktor assembled: Aleister Black, Damian Priest, and Judas.

The New Day(c) vs. The Fallen for the WWE Trios Championships
The New Day are in the process of making their entrance per usual and are giddy about being at SummerSlam in Brooklyn... when the lights go out in the Barclays Center and they come back on with Aleister Black, Damian Priest, and Judas surrounding Xavier Woods on the outside with the trombone. They collapse on Woods before Big E and Kofi Kingston get there and it's a trios brawl already... but the lights go out again. When they come back on, Big E is laid out by the steel steps as if he was thrown against them. The Fallen take care of business against a valiant effort by Kofi Kingston, but it's just too much. When Priest hits the Southside of Heaven on Kingston in the center of the ring, Woods decides to springboard into a Black Mass by Aleister Black. The Fallen stands above The New Day as the official already ran away to the timekeeper area for his own safety. Viktor is by the ramp and motions them back as The Fallen leaves the ring and Judas catches Big E getting to his feet before running him over. Black and Priest expose the concrete floor and that's when referees decide to rush in, but they stay at a distance just pleading... but to no avail. Judas hits a Tombstone Piledriver on the concrete floor with Big E.

The Fallen leave after their path of destruction as Woods and Kingston are coming to, only to see their best friend Big E getting serious help with a stretcher coming out to assist him to the back. Heyman likes the extreme level of The Fallen, but wishes they left it for the match, as Cole points out this match never officially started, and likely won't due to the pre-match attack.

WWE is bringing back Heat on Monday evenings and Velocity on Tuesday evenings, starting this week. Both programs will be exclusive to the WWE Network, not the USA Network.

Renee Young is backstage with the #1 contender for the WWE Universal Championship tonight, the Rated-R Superstar, EDGE! Renee asks about Edge's emotions walking into his first match back in over 7 years. Edge says this feels so surreal, he can't believe this is happening. Edge says to not only come back to the ring with his family here, but to main event SummerSlam with a chance to be world champion once again, just feels like a movie. Renee turns the question to the recent antics by the incumbent champion Christian, and if he is bothered by what Christian has said and done the last few weeks. Edge says there's a part of him that hurts personally because of how close they used to be. Edge understands that as a world champion, you'll do anything to keep that title... if you're scared of losing it. Edge says Christian's feeling threatened and everything he's done is coming from a place of feeling inferior, and he should. Edge said he's going to soak it all in tonight but win, lose, or draw, he's back and will give it everything he has to become the new WWE Universal Champion!

More celebrities are in the crowd as the camera shows WWE superfan and UFC fighter Ronda Rousey in the front row for tonight's event! SmackDown General Manager Kurt Angle's music hits and he heads to the ring. Angle thanks the Brooklyn fans in attendance for tonight's historic SummerSlam. Angle recounts what it was like 16 years ago in 2002 at one of the highest regarded SummerSlams ever, when he wrestled Rey Mysterio. Angle says tonight will go down in the history books as perhaps the best SummerSlam of all-time, with the celebrities in attendance, Edge's return, and so much more. Angle then welcomes WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus! Stratus heads out and echoes what Angle said about SummerSlam 2002 and now the event tonight, because there's some historic business to take care of right now. Stratus says the Matrons Championship is going a slight change, with the lineage remaining the same, she is proud to introduce a new title... as Trish Stratus unveils the Universal Women's Championship! Angle, Stratus, and Ronda Rousey are among those clapping for the new championship when current Matrons Champion Charlotte heads to the ring and she snatches the Universal Women's Championship from Trish's hand and holds it up high before Sasha Banks makes her entrance and we have a title match right now.

Charlotte(c) vs. Sasha Banks for the Universal Women's Championship
For the new title... Ronda Rousey's presence at ringside was not going to go unacknowledged. When action spilled to the outside, Charlotte Flair tossed Sasha against the barricade right in front of the Baddest Woman on the Planet. Charlotte proceeded to use this to taunt Ronda and get in her face, telling the UFC star to sit back down. Charlotte and Sasha would get back in the ring to have a classic. Knowing the champion well, Sasha showed she's a real threat with all the near-falls in this contest.

Towards the end, Sasha finds an opening to shimmy like Eddie Guerrero and hit a frog splash off the top rope, nearly becoming the new Universal Women's Champion. Banks began targeting the back before Charlotte rolled away and got Banks off of her, kicking her away. Charlotte got to her feet and hit a back elbow before hitting a big boot! Charlotte measures Sasha up and goes for Natural Selection, but Banks eludes it and hits the backstabber turned into the Banks Statement! The champion has nowhere to go but rolls and almost pins Sasha, but Banks lets go so she doesn't get pinned. Sasha Banks gets Charlotte to her feet but it's Charlotte lifting Sasha up and dropping her throat across the ropes, giving the challenger whiplash and falling back to the mat. Charlotte locks in the Figure Four right there, and Sasha fights off, but Charlotte transitions to the Figure 8. Center of the ring, Sasha has no choice but to reluctantly tap to the Queen.

Sasha Banks is left holding her knee in the ring while Charlotte stands tall with her new-look Universal Women's Championship. Charlotte celebrates until she decides to leave the ring and gloat to everyone, the commentators, and then to Ronda Rousey sitting front row. Charlotte shouts her title makes HER the baddest woman on the planet! Ronda stands up and Charlotte continues to shove the title in Ronda's face, as Rousey's letting Charlotte have her moment. Charlotte says Ronda needs to stay in the UFC because she'd be second-best in WWE. Ronda then shoves the title away and gets in Charlotte's face, but Charlotte shoves Ronda's face off and turns away. Rousey, full of rage, hops the barricade and attacks Charlotte before flipping the champion off her feet and after hearing the pop from the crowd, snaps the arm of the champ! Rousey holds on tight to the armbar and security is flooding the ringside area to get Ronda Rousey off their champion and out runs Kurt Angle to do the same. Once they finally do, Angle shouts what the hell Ronda was thinking?! About 15 or so security guards are getting Ronda Rousey escorted through the crowd, and to Angle's demand, out of the arena and banned from the rest of the event. Doctors tend to the champion Charlotte, whose night turned quickly for the worst.

A video package plays announcing...

Fenix debuts this TUESDAY on SmackDown!

Tom Phillips and Corey Graves react to this huge news that SmackDown fans will finally see Fenix in a WWE ring. They give their best to the Universal Women's Champion Charlotte after Ronda Rousey jumped the barricade and attacked her. Phillips emphasized several celebrities were invited to attend SummerSlam tonight, Rousey being one of them, but she was here as a FAN, but will no longer be sitting front row for the rest of the evening. Graves says it's a shame she'll miss two more big SmackDown matches to come: Seth Rollins versus Dean Ambrose, and the in-ring return of Edge competing for the WWE Universal Championship against Christian. They send it to their Raw colleagues for their match next.

Michael Cole and Paul Heyman gear up for the WWE Championship Scramble Match up next, but mention there's another guest in attendance tonight, former Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff! Cole makes a joke about Bischoff getting involved in the WWE Championship match tonight and saying he shouldn't make the same mistake as Ronda Rousey, but Heyman says he wouldn't put it past him, knowing Eric. Cole and Heyman then recap what fans need to know. WWE Champion Kevin Owens will enter the match first, Bobby Lashley last.

The rules are as follows:

  • The match begins with 2 superstars with a 20-minute time limit
  • Every 5 minutes, a new superstar will enter
  • Scoring a pinfall or submission makes you the "unofficial/interim" champion (isn't reflected in the title record books)
  • Whoever was the last to score a fall when time expires, is the winner and the official WWE Champion
Kevin Owens(c) vs. Baron Corbin vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Finn Balor
in a WWE Championship Scramble Match
Starting the match in the first 5 minutes is champion Kevin Owens and longtime arch-rival CODY RHODES! Most of the 5 minutes was Owens trying to elude Cody Rhodes as much as possible. Cody was off to a hot start on Kevin Owens after all the personal exchanges they've had this year. They go throughout the ringside area as Cody's just beating Kevin up and Kevin's retreating, but there's no count outs, and Owens reverses his fortunes before irish whipping Cody into the steel steps and getting a breather. Kevin Owens gets a breather in the ring before the next competitor comes out: Finn Balor!

Balor shows up with a lot of energy and comes in with a hot fury of moves, even a Slingblade and going for a pin, but Owens kicks out at two. After that initial swing, Cody Rhodes hops in the ring and while he wants retribution on Owens, he focuses on the freshest competitor Finn Balor. Rhodes and Balor go at it for a few minutes, both going for pin attempts and failing, while Michael Cole recognizes they haven't seen Kevin Owens in a few minutes. Kevin is reclining on the barricade watching Cody and Finn, getting a reprieve when...

The motorcycle revs up! Baron Corbin rides out and Owens pops to his feet and dives over the barricade to avoid Baron Corbin riding his motorcycle around the ring. Cody and Finn stop to watch, but Cody hits a Disaster Kick on a distracted Balor! Cody goes for the cover and Balor BARELY gets his shoulder off the mat at 2.99. Baron Corbin hops off the bike, and he decides to go grab the WWE Champion Kevin Owens and fight through the crowd, leaving Rhodes and Balor in the ring by themselves. Rhodes and Balor continue to go toe-to-toe when Cody tries a Cross-Rhodes, but Balor counters it into a 1916. Balor hurries to the top rope and goes for a Coup de Grace, but Cody rolls out of the way and Balor rolls his ankle. Balor tries hobbling in pain, but gets caught from behind with the Cross-Rhodes and CODY scores the first fall!

Eden announces Cody Rhodes is interim champion and that garners the attention of Baron Corbin who begins making his way back to the ring, leaving the WWE Champion laid out in table debris after a chokeslam in the crowd. When Corbin reaches the ring, Rhodes sees and Corbin is making Rhodes pay before the 15-minute mark hits and the fifth and final entrant is ready to enter...

The reigning United States Champion Bobby Lashley heads down, who pinned both Rhodes and Balor this past Monday to earn the final spot in this Scramble Match. Five minutes left and Lashley comes in swinging, but Rhodes and Corbin are working together to fight off the freshest man but to no avail. Lashley's set up for a Spear on Rhodes, but Rhodes leapfrogs Lashley and he slams his shoulder into the ringpost. Rhodes tries a schoolboy pin on Lashley, but Corbin breaks it up. Corbin throws Rhodes out the ring, but Cody holds on the ropes and stays on the apron. Corbin charges at Rhodes, but Rhodes tips the top rope over and decides this is the perfect time to scale to the top turnbuckle and hit a moonsault dive onto the outside on Corbin! Inside the ring, Lashley gets hit with a Slingblade and Corner Dropkick combination by Finn Balor! It's Balor's time, and after an entire year since he was WWE Champion last, scales to the top and hits a Coup de Grace! Balor hooks the leg, Rhodes late back up to his feet, and PINS Bobby Lashley!

Finn Balor is announced as the interim WWE Champion with a little less than 2:30 to go in this match. Balor only has to survive that much, but Cody slides in the ring and wails into Balor. Cody goes on a frenzy before setting up for Cross-Rhodes and Baron Corbin comes in with a big boot on Cody! Corbin turns into a Spear by Bobby Lashley! Lashley makes the cover, but Balor pushes Lashley off. Lashley gets upset and attacks Finn Balor before military press throwing Balor from the ring and into the announce table at ringside! Sixty seconds remain, Lashley turns around and Cody Rhodes is fighting him hard. Cody throws a few punches before a scoop slam. Tasting the WWE Championship, finally, Cody waits for Lashley to get up and he goes for Cross-Rhodes, but Lashley counters into a Dominator! Lashley makes the cover but Corbin pulls him off. The clock is under 30 seconds as Corbin blocks a punch by Lashley and pulls him in for an End of Days! Corbin has it! Corbin goes to make a cover but takes a shot to the back with a steel chair, with momentum sending him to the floor. It's KEVIN OWENS! Owens hasn't been seen since Corbin took him out earlier... and Owens drops on Bobby Lashley's lifeless body, Rhodes reaches to break the fall, but to no avail! Owens rolls out of the ring quickly. The clock is at 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1!

Kevin Owens has done it! Kevin Owens is announced as the official, and still, the WWE Champion! Cole is damning Owens to hell for how he stole that win tonight. Heyman credits Owens for picking his moment, saying he didn't have to get the first fall, or the most falls, but the last one to laugh. Kevin rips his WWE Championship from the timekeeper area, hurrying up the ramp to celebrate away from the four men devastated after failing to capture the richest prize on Raw tonight.

Raw's General Manager JBL watches the monitor and sees Kevin Owens retain his WWE Championship when he's amazed to see the SmackDown General Manager Kurt Angle walk in. JBL boasts about a more successful SummerSlam so far, but Angle says SmackDown has two matches left and they'll be phenomenal JBL also throws shade about now having the Trios and Tag Team Champions on Raw, which you see irritates Angle. JBL asks what Angle's doing in his office, when Angle says he wants to talk trade. JBL isn't willing to talk at first but then asks the cameraman to leave and they'll conduct business.

Phillips and Graves react to William Regal saying he's showing up Tuesday to explain his actions! This transitions to trying to explain how deeply personal this feud is between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose who have done heinous acts against one another in recent months, but it all comes to an end tonight at SummerSlam. A video package replays how this began, going back to Ambrose and Reigns in a WrestleMania match and Seth Rollins getting DDTed through a cinderblock when he came to play peacemaker, and then Rollins costing Ambrose the WWE Championship at The Great American Bash. Now it's a grudge match to settle their differences.

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins in a Grudge Match
Ambrose and Rollins have a big disdain for one another and it shows this contest. Rollins is out to hurt Ambrose for putting him on the shelf for several months after WrestleMania, and Ambrose wants to avenge Rollins for not becoming WWE Champion. The referee understands the bad blood and lets it go to an extent. Rather than counting out, he just encouraged, but this ended up with the announce table getting cleared and Rollins trying to Pedigree Ambrose through the table, except Ambrose countered into a Dirty Deeds attempt, but Rollins countered into a Pedigree that was successful this time around. Rollins got up from the rubble to reach at the timekeepers area and pull out a cinderblock. This is where the official drew the line, with the same weapon that forced Rollins to spend months away.

The referee got the competitors back in the ring and they began to show off their wrestling skill. Near falls after Seth hitting moves like the Phoenix Splash, a springboard knee, and even another Pedigree in the ring! Ambrose had near falls after hitting a One Hitter, Money Clip, and almost submitted Rollins with a bulldog choke, but Rollins slid down and elbowed the ribs of Ambrose allowing him to get out of the hold.

As the match draws to a close, Ambrose just hit a rebound lariat and both men are down. Ambrose uses the ropes and crowd motivation to get to his feet a second before Rollins. Ambrose goes on a frenzy and Rollins tries countering with an enzuigiri that Ambrose dips and hits a snap suplex on Rollins and gets a 2-count from it. Ambrose gets up and he goes to the top rope and tries for an elbow drop, but Rollins moves out of the way and Ambrose lands hard on his elbow. Screaming in pain, Ambrose gets picked up by Rollins and tries to hook the bad arm for a Pedigree, but Ambrose hits a backbody drop. Still holding his arm, Ambrose charges and Rollins dropkicks the elbow, before popping up and hitting a Pedigree on Ambrose. Rollins makes the cover and NEARLY puts Ambrose away. Seth gets frustrated and waits to hit Ambrose with what will surely end it, the Curb Stomp, but as Rollins charges, Ambrose pops up and adjusts to hit a clothesline with the good arm! Ambrose pops up and sees Rollins stumbling to his feet before he kicks Rollins in the gut and hit Dirty Deeds! Ambrose lays across Seth's upper body and the official counts 3.

The crowd stay on their feet giving Ambrose a standing ovation. It takes a moment after some highlights play for this match before Ambrose gets to his feet. Ambrose slowly is embraced as he gets his hand raised, gets on the turnbuckles, succeeding his quest to beat his rival. Ambrose gets off the turnbuckle and thanks the fans before he catches a kick below the belt from behind. Ambrose turns around, hunched over, and gets hit with a Pedigree... followed by a calculated Curb Stomp. Rollins, not satisfied, goes to get the cinderblock and slides it in the ring. Rollins drags Ambrose to where his head rests on the cinderblock before security dart to the ring and stand in Seth's way of executing, potentially saving Dean Ambrose from a serious head injury.

A video plays... highlighting scenes from the very first WrestleMania in 1985 in Madison Square Garden. It goes to show some of the historic WrestleMania moments from Austin/Hart, Hogan/Rock, Cena/JBL, Taker/Lesnar, Edge winning Money in the Bank, and this past year's record-setting 17th world title win for John Cena over Randy Orton. It then announces WrestleMania is returning to the NY area at MetLife Stadium, and for the first time ever, WrestleMania will be a TWO NIGHT EVENT!

April 6th and 7th, WrestleMania 35, MetLife Stadium... tickets go on sale a week from Friday!

Tom Phillips and Corey Graves react to this HUGE news about WrestleMania spanning over two nights! They then receive word Renee Young caught the Intercontinental Champion Neville and NXT General Manager William Regal in the parking lot...

Renee Young stops Neville and Regal, asking about Regal's actions earlier tonight that helped Neville win back the Intercontinental Championship from Jason Jordan. Regal says it's really simple, but if she's looking for her scoop, she can tune in with everybody else Tuesday on SmackDown when he will explain everything alongside everyone's favorite Intercontinental Champion, Neville.

Back to the ringside area, it's time for the Women's Championship Match! Michael Cole emphasizes Nikki Bella feels like her and Brie's work has been set aside by some of the newer women in WWE, especially with the Divas Championship being discarded. Tonight for Nikki is to fight for her legacy and her future.

Paige(c) vs. Nikki Bella for the Women's Championship
This match goes by fairly quickly compared to the rest of the show, in anticipation of the main event. Nikki tries getting some offense, but Paige is on another level, and eventually gets Nikki in the PTO around the 6-minute mark, and Nikki taps.

Paige grabs her Women's Championship, hardly breaking a sweat, and celebrates her moment at SummerSlam in the Barclays Center.

The celebrities keep on coming for this historic night in Brooklyn for SummerSlam. The main event is moments away, but this next celebrity guest is special as he will be joining the commentary team of Tom Phillips and Corey Graves to help call Edge's return to the ring after 7-plus years. It's the legendary Hall of Famer from Oklahoma, good ole JR! Jim Ross heads down and sits next to Corey Graves, and putting on the headset, he believes this will be a slobberknocker!

Prior to this next match beginning, a video package airs. The video begins with Edge and Christian's career with The Brood, with the TLC matches, and then splitting off into singles careers. It covers Edge's singles highlights including his Money in the Bank win and cash-in, main eventing WrestleMania against the Undertaker, and a few significant moments in-between. It then takes a somber turn, covering the forced retirement after his final career match at WrestleMania against Alberto Del Rio, giving up the World Heavyweight Title... and then it turns to Christian who won the World Heavyweight Title shortly thereafter and jumped to Christian ending Kurt Angle's in-ring career at this year's WrestleMania and then beating Nakamura for the WWE Universal Championship... until the next turn takes place, where Edge returned and then eventually confirmed he was cleared and was coming to take the world title at SummerSlam. The animosity's been built up for weeks, it's personal now, as Edge returns to the ring for the first time since his career ended in 2011 to battle his former friend Christian to try and re-enter the business the same way he left it: on top.

"You Think You Know Me" sounds throughout Barclays first and the crowd pop to their feet when the RATED R SUPERSTAR EDGE runs out! Edge is fired up in his signature trenchcoat and you can tell the passion is still there. Edge is in great shape and there's a nice smirk before he sets off his pyro. Edge then begins to soak this all in, that after 7-plus years of being retired, he has his career back. Edge decides to run and slide in under the ropes and get the crowd hype on all four sides. After doing this, Edge dips out of the ring to greet his family at ringside before getting back in the ring, getting hype for his return match again, before he awaits his former best friend and tag team partner, the WWE Universal Champion.

"Just Close Your Eyes" hits and the fan atmosphere immediately changes. The fans are in disdain of Christian as he proudly hoists the WWE Universal Championship at the camera, towards the fans, and letting everyone know he is the top dog in the company. Captain Charisma confidently heads down and as Edge has stepped down to ringside for a moment, Christian makes a point to stand above him with the title and talk trash to his opponent.

Christian(c) vs. Edge for the WWE Universal Championship
The bell rings and the moment is here. A huge standing ovation comes over the crowd that Edge and Christian temporarily take in, now Edge is officially back after 7 years forced into retirement due to neck issues... he's back now! The moment ends when Edge goes to lock up in the center of the ring, and Christian dips out at the last second. It takes a few moments before they eventually lock up. Edge gets the headlock, before Christian pushes Edge off the ropes and hits a shoulder-block on the rebounding Rated-R Superstar. Everyone holds their breath as Edge lays on the mat for a second and then pops up and shouts, as the crowd goes insane and the two begin throwing fists.

The first few moments of the match are an emotional rollercoaster for the fans invested in Edge's return, and hopefully dethroning Christian who has made this feud personal and perhaps destroyed a friendship over a number of weeks. Christian has control over Edge dealing with some ring rust in comparison to the world champion, but every time Christian seems to hesitate on a move that would attack the head/neck area, Edge has an opening for some of his signature moves: Edgecution, Edge-o-Matic, put Christian in the Edgecator once as well, even hit the Downward Spiral for a flashback to twenty years ago in 1998! This reluctancy and Corey Graves saying Christian's showing his "human side" is hindering him from retaining the title tonight.

Closing towards the end, Christian lands a picture-perfect missile dropkick, one similar to Edge would hit in his career, and almost gets a 2. He gets frustrated and doesn't know what to do and just asks for Edge to stay down as he goes for a crossface, and after locking it in, Christian lets go of it. Jim Ross analyzes Christian is certainly in his head. Christian, instead, locks in a Cloverleaf and Edge has to crawl to the ropes in a hold which targets the back instead. Christian stomps at Edge's back before picking him up and hitting a textbook suplex and going up for a Frog Splash to a facedown Edge, but Edge rolls over and sticks his knees up at the final second.

From that counter, Edge gets to his feet simultaneously as Christian and begins slugging with his former best friend before Christian swings and Edge hits another Edge-o-Matic. Edge hooks the leg and Captain Charisma jumps out at two! Edge scoots back to the corner and sees his opening. Edge gets ready to go for a Spear, but Christian sees this and drops to the mat before rolling out. Edge sighs a breath of frustration before hitting a baseball slide sending Christian into the barricade. Edge quickly gets Christian up to throw into the ring and Edge tries again for a Spear, but Christian raises his knee at the last second catching his opponent in the face. Christian uses this to hit the KILLSWITCH! The air leaves the crowd as Edge is face down and Christian realizes he's won it, so he rolls Edge over and hooks the leg. The official counts one... two... thre - NO! Edge lifts his shoulder off the mat. Christian gets upset and sees Beth Phoenix and Edge's family from the front row cheering their hero on. Christian decides to leave the ring and he stares at Beth's face cold, with Phoenix asking what's wrong with him, and Christian says he's sorry for what he has to do. Christian turns around and heads back inside the ring.

Christian sees Edge slowly pulling himself up with help from the ropes, so Christian measures up for a Spear using the same taunts as the man across from him. Christian then decides to pull up and instead pick Edge up for another Killswitch, but Edge pushes Christian into the ropes. Christian comes back, Edge ducks a clothesline, and comes back with a SPEAR! Edge hit the SPEAR! Edge then stumbles back into the corner and begins his taunt as the crowd rises to their feet. Christian gets to his feet wobbly and turns around into another SPEAR! Edge hooks the leg and the crowd is LOUD for the one, two, THREE!

Metalingus plays in the Barclays Center but isn't as loud as the crowd right now as Edge sits on the mat and is handed the WWE Universal Championship in tears, as his family are in the front row. Edge gets to his feet and immediately goes to hug his wife Beth, his mom, and his two young children. Edge slides back in the ring for a full celebration with the title, including posing on the ropes. Moments into the celebration, Christian is caught looking on from the floor as he's lost the title most precious to him. The celebration continues for Edge and the pyro begins going off in the background as this is the visual WWE leaves us for SummerSlam 2018.

RAW ROSTER GUIDE:
Alberto Del Rio (heel) -- Del Rio's struggled to change his manipulative ways. From teaming with Blake and Murphy to Ortiz and Santana in pursuits of the WWE Trios Championships, now he's without a crew and finding his footing as a solo wrestler.

Baron Corbin (face) -- Rocking the ride hair and the Harley to the ring every week, Corbin's a mainstay on the main event level but is waiting for the right chance to win the WWE Championship.

Bobby Lashley (heel) -- Lashley just wants to prove he's the most dominant man on the Raw roster. He's claimed to be the real champion of Monday nights, wanting the fans to recognize him as United States Champion is more valuable than the WWE Championship. This is a big swerve from his earlier feud with John Cena over Nikki Bella some time ago.

Carlito (face) -- Carlito returned to WWE and has served in whatever role WWE needed for him. Carlito was last seen in a losing effort to WWE Champion Kevin Owens at Extreme Rules. After failing to capture the championship in June, Carlito has not been seen on television and there's no certainty as to why.

Cody Rhodes (face) -- The beach blonde son of the American Dream. Cody wears his lineage with great pride and wants to make his father proud, which made his feud with Kevin Owens in 2018 so personal. Cody doesn't take well to comments about his late father who transcended the industry, but he wants to become WWE Champion for his father's honor. Cody's fallen short in several attempts, but it's only a matter of time before a Rhodes is on top.

Dolph Ziggler (face) -- It appeared Ziggler would be on the top of the industry at the end of 2015 into 2016, but his moment has yet to come. But for now, he's getting caught by his old tricks with his latest loss at SummerSlam to Elias Samson, thanks to his new girl.

Elias Samson (heel) -- Elias recently arrived to Raw and the guitarist was immediately enamored by this woman with questionable intentions, Scarlett. Elias with a bright future and Scarlett might be good or bad for it, at least assisting him on the SummerSlam kickoff show with a win.

Emperor Roman Reigns (heel) -- Roman Reigns was the only member of The Shield who had yet to win a world championship, so he decided to turn on his brother Dean Ambrose in the King of the Ring tournament to become "Emperor" Roman Reigns. In the midst of building his empire in one of the hottest heel runs to date, real life struck. Roman has stepped away from the ring to battle leukemia. Get well soon, Roman!

Finn Balor (face) -- Finn is dangerous, but The Demon is unstoppable. Balor has stayed in the main event scene since he defeated The Undertaker at his WrestleMania 32 retirement match. Recently, he's even been able to offer his expertise to young protege Jordan Devlin.

Jordan Devlin (face)
-- Balor is a huge inspiration for Devlin, and he might have started to become a bit obsessive with his favorite wrestler turned friend and mentor. But if Jordan continues to learn in Finn's shadow, perhaps his time will come.

Kane (face) -- This first ballot Hall of Famer was a prime target for a new group on the horizon, The Fallen. Kane was getting attacked by an "Impostor Kane" who revealed himself to be Judas. 24 hours after a loss to Judas at Stomping Grounds, Kane had a funeral held for him by The Fallen. Kane hasn't been seen since on television, but some say he's still handling his mayorial duties in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Kevin Owens (heel) -- JBL must be proud of Kevin Owens for a very Longhorn way of keeping the title, by any means necessary. After Owens cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to bring the WWE Championship to Raw after the Draft, he's cut every corner and used his brains to be on top of Raw, even surviving the Championship Scramble at SummerSlam. Owens has taken things too far at times, criticizing the late Dusty Rhodes to his son Cody. If he continues that, karma will swing around and get him.

Luke Harper (heel) -- Luke Harper has struggled to find who he is apart of the Wyatt Family. The group failed to capture the Trios Championships at WrestleMania, he's drafted alone to Raw, and he's been on a losing streak. His last match was July 16th losing to Jordan Devlin before JBL expressed disappointment in Harper's performance as a Raw superstar.

Matt Hardy (face) -- Matt is also struggling to find his footing as a singles star at this stage of his career. He attempted capturing the Trios Championships with The Usos and failed. Matt has then wrestled just a couple singles matches, but most recently got attacked by The Fallen on last week's episode.

Murphy (face) -- Since Murphy broke away from a toxic friendship of Alberto Del Rio, he's shown glimpses of untapped potential as a singles star. Murphy nearly beat Bobby Lashley at Extreme Rules this year in an Ambulance Match for the United States Champion, but everyone is certain his time will come.

Randy Orton (heel) -- Randy Orton is coming off one of the busiest times. When The Authority was in charge, he was on top. Orton then walked into this year's WrestleMania as WWE Champion against career foe John Cena, but the night ended with Cena getting his 17th world title. Orton tried avenging his loss to Cena inside Hell in a Cell, but this was the last we saw of Randy Orton, perhaps healing from injuries and taking a much-needed break.

Rusev (heel) -- Rusev, along with Lana, find themselves lost in the mix. A match here and match there, but nothing huge to sink their teeth into in recent memory.

Shelton Benjamin (heel) -- Benjamin looked to use his veteran savviness to mentor Tashard Wiggins and Desmond Xavier in one of the newest trios to the Raw roster, but following a torn ACL for Wiggins and Xavier going undrafted, Benjamin finds himself without direction.

Shinsuke Nakamura (face) -- Is there a bigger fall from grace? The 2-time WWE Universal Champion was one of the key matches with Samoa Joe that got ended early due to Joe's injury, before Nakamura would lose the title to Christian shortly after. Nakamura gets shipped to Raw in the Draft and hasn't been as big of a star on Raw since, but he's another guy who could step in right away.

Alexa Bliss (heel) -- The 2-time Matrons Champion hasn't had much luck on Raw since getting drafted over to Monday nights. She hasn't had a real program to sink into with intense competition, taking losses to Becky Lynch and Paige.

Asuka (face) -- Asuka had a dominant run as Divas Champion that ended in February 2018, and since, she's taken a step back from the big spotlight. Instead of having a big feud herself, she's filled in spots in big matches with Becky Lynch, Paige, and the Bella Twins.

Becky Lynch (face) -- Becky Lynch has found her edge as the Lass Kicker, with an image from SummerSlam of a busted nose that might live in infamy. Lynch's character is turning into a more aggressive competitor that is a threat to anyone, including the WWE Women's Champion.

Emma (face) -- Moving over from SmackDown, Emma's picked up some big victories over Nikki Bella and Asuka in particular, but she also hasn't had a big feud to receive a lot of progression up the card. Appears to be a real Dil-Emma for her.

Mickie James (face) -- Taking that veteran approach, Mickie James can pop in anywhere on the show and be valuable, just bringing quality matches to the women's division. Though not expecting anything, she could get a Women's Championship match tomorrow and nobody would bat an eye.

Nia Jax (heel) -- Nia Jax has had several issues with kayfabe suspensions for actions against her peers and innocent bystanders. We aren't sure why Nia Jax is gone right now, but she was drafted to Raw and hasn't been on the show since. Her last appearance came on March 6th this year, losing a Matrons Championship opportunity to Becky Lynch in a Lumberjill Match.

Paige (face) -- The Anti-Diva is heading a new era for women's wrestling: emphasizing women. Paige, with the blessing of Lita, ushered in this new era with a new title at WrestleMania and she's fought against the norm to make this a reality, most notably retaining her title against Nikki Bella at SummerSlam.

Rubi Riot (heel) -- Rubi Riot has a newfound attitude and she's not taking a backseat to anyone. Rubi was out to destroy Becky Lynch, and though being unsuccessful, everyone expects this to continue. moving forward.

Bella Twins (heel) -- While Brie announced she was pregnant this year, this leaves Nikki riding solo. Nikki is juggling a lot with the reality shows, publicity commitments, and the dedication to preserving the Bella Twin and Divas legacy. She fell short against Paige, but you must be sure this fight didn't stop at SummerSlam.

The Fallen | Aleister Black + Damian Priest + Judas {aka Luchasaurus} + Viktor (heels) -- Viktor went away for a while and found three men to assemble in this mysterious, dark, sadistic group known as The Fallen. Perhaps the future of this industry, The Fallen are focused on the present. After getting rid of one of the all-time greats in Kane, and dominating The New Day like nobody has, who knows what's next for The Fallen except for Viktor, the mastermind behind it all.

The New Day | Big E + Kofi Kingston + Xavier Woods (faces) -- For 450+ days, The New Day have reigned as WWE Trios Champions finding little to no competition too big for the Power of Positivity. The New Day just keep doing their thing, having more fun than anyone else.

The Usos | Jey Uso + Jimmy Uso (faces) -- Faces painted up and having a lot of energy, the Usos have struggled on Raw without the WWE Tag Team Championships available to them but found a way to capture the titles at SummerSlam. Before then, it was trying to pick a trio out of a pumpkin patch.

Ortiz + Santana (faces) -- Brought into the WWE by Alberto Del Rio to be his next trio, it didn't take long for Ortiz and Santana to see through the Aristocrat's insincere intentions. They now sort through a trios division on their own as a tag team.

SMACKDOWN! ROSTER GUIDE:
Big Show (face) -- Big Show was heeling it up with Kane on Raw earlier in the year, but after going undrafted this year, he had a change of heart. Big Show would sign with SmackDown as an UFA and would wrestle a little bit, hopping in on unfair scenarios and helping the likes of Jeff Hardy in outnumbered situations.

Boogeyman (face) -- Ever since Boogeyman returned to the WWE, he's had a weird obsession with Sami Zayn, borderline stalkerish. Boogeyman protects Sami, and it was marketed as "BoogeyZAYN" at SummerSlam, but we're unsure if this will be a thing moving forward.

Cesaro (face) -- Cesaro has battled Sheamus in intense matchups this year, before deciding to be buddies and wrestle alongside him at SummerSlam against common foes, the Maple Leaf Mafia. But after main eventing WrestleMania 32 against Seth Rollins and getting close, you'd be surprised if becoming world champion still isn't on his career bucket list.

Chad Gable (face) -- Gable is on the sidelines right now with a knee injury while he watches his partner Jason Jordan thrive in singles action. It's worth nothing Angle drafted American Alpha together because he does believe Gable will make a full recovery and will be a valuable asset to the SmackDown brand.

Christian (heel) -- Scum of the earth. Christian can't quit bragging about retiring Kurt Angle at WrestleMania in their Career versus Career match, and he became over-the-moon obnoxious when he beat Nakamura to become WWE Universal Champion. Christian's doing the best work of his career right now and Edge has now ruined it by taking the title from him at SummerSlam. But honestly? Christian deserved it with the way he's acted the last several weeks. If Christian could say and do those heinous acts towards his best friend, who will he not to protect his spot on top?

Daniel Bryan (face) -- Due to a stipulation lost, Daniel Bryan can never challenge for the WWE Championship again. However, it doesn't mean Bryan can't wrestle at a world champion level. Bryan won a career match against one of WWE's best technicians in history Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 33 in 2017 and that'll never be taken away. Meanwhile, Bryan loves elevating the mid-card and performing in front of the live audience.

Dean Ambrose (face) -- Ambrose carries a lot of trust issues from Seth Rollins stabbing him in the back in 2014, followed by Roman Reigns in 2017. However, he's also the first-ever WWE Universal Champion and one of the faces WWE builds around. Honestly, he can't seem to escape his past with The Shield. After a nearly year-long feud with Roman Reigns, one Dirty Deeds through a cinderblock at WrestleMania to an intervening Seth Rollins has reignited that feud and who knows when that will truly end.

Edge (face) -- More than 7 years away from the ring, the impossible has happened. Edge has been cleared by doctors to return to the ring. And with a storybook moment at SummerSlam to win the WWE Universal Championship against Christian in his first match back, that sounds like the happy ending right? This story is only getting started, and it's being written by Edge and will *hopefully* end on Edge's terms a long time from now.

Fenix (face) -- Fenix makes his debut this week after SummerSlam and not many know what to expect for his first WWE match. Fenix was drafted as a prospect on Night 3 of the WWE Draft, where Raw and SmackDown could select any free agent or NXT talent. Dubbed as the future of lucha libre, and the greatest mask since Rey Mysterio, this rookie has a lot to live up to.

Jason Jordan (face) -- The unfortunate luck of Chad Gable might have unlocked a bright future for Jason Jordan. Taking his hand as a singles star, with the belief from GM Kurt Angle, Jordan has already found success with an Intercontinental Championship victory to his name and big matches each week. Jordan could very well be the future of the WWE.

Jeff Hardy (face) -- Obviously towards the tail-end of his career, he's navigating without his brother Matt. Jeff looks to find the same heights he did in his singles run back in the late 2000s when he became WWE Champion and was on top of the world.

Jinder Mahal (heel) -- Jinder Mahal returned to WWE as part of the Draft in the best shape of his life. Mahal officially had his return match against Dean Ambrose on August 7th, but lost to the former WWE Universal Champion. Mahal's second match, gets interrupted by the Neville and Jason Jordan feud. Mahal has yet to find a decisive win since his return, but he's back on the blue brand.

John Cena (face) -- After John Cena closed WrestleMania 34 as a record-breaking 17-time world champion, he shocked many by relinquishing the belt the following night on Raw, saying it was someone else's time to step up. Since, Cena has taken a role in building up the younger guys and having significant matches against the future, including Jason Jordan.

Michael Bennett (heel) -- The self-proclaimed "Silver Medalist" gave himself that moniker after he was the final man eliminated in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal this year. It's gotten old, but at least Michael Bennett can find humor in the fact he's been the "Silver Medalist" in a lot of 1-on-1 matches this year. It's a shame Bennett's General Manager Kurt Angle was forced into retirement this year, because there's a dream matchup waiting to happen between the Gold and Silver Medalists.

Neville (heel) -- Once adored by the fans for his moves and honest effort, Neville felt it was necessary to change and find this darkness inside to be successful in WWE in the year 2018. Neville's had notable feuds against Finn Balor and now Jason Jordan to show he is one of the best wrestlers, now a 2-time Intercontinental Champion.

Sami Zayn (face) -- Still recognized as a singles star, Sami Zayn has to figure out why Boogeyman has this obsession with him... or maybe it's best Sami Zayn finds himself far away from the worm-eater.

Seth Rollins (heel) -- Seth Rollins is no stranger to the main event, and likely has claim to the greatest superstar in today's game. A modern-day record 546 days as WWE Champion, in addition to a record 259 days as WWE Universal Champion, Rollins has been the standard for everyone else. The only problem is he doesn't see an issue doing every dirty trick to be at the top. The one moment he showed compassion for another human being, he got dropped on his head through a cinderblock at WrestleMania. Now there's no hope for Rollins to ever change.

Sheamus (face) -- Sheamus has notably lost some world title opportunities, hasn't had something to truly sink his teeth into notably, except the Cesaro program. Where does it go from here now that he and Cesaro have reconciled their differences and have a tag team win at the Barclays Center together?

The Miz (heel) -- The Miz is known to stir the pot and get to the scoop with his hit-show MizTV, but his hatred for Daniel Bryan couldn't be subsided for a moment at SummerSlam to fight a common enemy. The Miz likely didn't learn his lesson and will continue to get the tea on MizTV.

Triple H (heel) -- Triple H was literally at the top of the pyramid with being The Authority, but he lost control with his wife Stephanie McMahon for abuse of power. That abuse of power? Triple H inserting himself into a WWE Championship match at Vengeance and winning the world title. As a result, Vince McMahon took their power away and Triple H became an active member of the SmackDown roster by Kurt Angle drafting him. Triple H then tore his tricep at The Great American Bash and now is out an unknown amount of time. What will he do when he returns? Who knows?

Bayley (face) -- Bayley loves to be a Role Model for all the young girls in the crowd aspiring to grow up and be like Bayley. With her blow-up friends welcoming her to the ring, Bayley hasn't found much success in the ring past NXT. Aside from a short Divas Championship run, her 399-day reign as NXT Women's Champion remains the most impressive for her.

Carmella (heel) -- Carmella's main roster run has been short and full of sporadic matches. We'll have to see if Carmella gets into a real feud.

Charlotte (heel) -- Like Rollins has been for the men, Charlotte has been for the women. From winning the Divas Championship in September 2015 to the title being retired at WrestleMania 34, Charlotte held the championship 71% of that time (659 out of 931 days) across four different reigns. Now she's found the *now renamed* Universal Women's Championship and it looks like she'll hold that title just as long. You can't go a big PPV without having Charlotte on the show.

Dana Brooke (?) -- Whether on Raw or SmackDown, Dana Brooke seems to be an enhancement talent. No real attitude alignment and no real storyline progression. When she gets an opportunity, it's usually a letdown against a competitor she's not ready for, unfortunately.

Naomi (face) -- A lot of athleticism and promise hasn't shown much for Naomi. She's had a couple opportunities, but has fallen short in those. Maybe one day Naomi can break out of her funk and win the big one!

Nikki Cross (face) -- Cross is a complete wild card. She began by admiring Charlotte, but once The Queen turned on her, she's been let loose to her own devices. Everyone should be scared by that.

Peyton Royce (?) -- Royce is in a serious transition period. For the first time in her career, she is a singles star after Billie Kay's departure from the company. Can Peyton realize her potential and become Universal Women's Champion, or was she always a tag team wrestler?

Sasha Banks (face) -- It might be between Bayley and Sasha who has been the least successful of the Four Horsewomen if you go by championships, with just one single championship on the main roster, but you wouldn't know it. Banks always delivers in her matches and she's had many close calls, so it's only a matter of time before everything aligns and The Boss runs SmackDown.

Tessa Blanchard (heel) -- Tessa is the next coming of Charlotte. Both women feel entitled for their fathers' success in the Four Horsemen. Blanchard has impressed in a short amount of time, including a Matrons Championship reign, one of many more to come.

Depths of Despair | Akam + Rezar (faces) -- D.o.D. is one of the more impressive tag teams to enter the WWE in a while. They've made an immediate impact and have big matches against The Revival in their short time. The chemistry is there and the duo of Akam and Rezar are legitimate.

Maple Leaf Mafia | Tye Dillinger + Tyler Breeze (heels) -- A match made in Canada. The two Canucks bonded over their love for America, and most importantly, the hate for America and the opportunity they haven't been given. Dillinger and Breeze have discovered some chemistry and are making a run as a tag team after lackluster singles runs.

The Revival | Dash Wilder + Scott Dawson (heels) -- The Revival will, and have, taken every shortcut in the book in their tag matches to have a chance at victory and being the WWE Tag Team Champions. They've arguably been the best tag team because of how successful they are at bringing old school tag team wrestling back to 2018.

The Vaudevillians | Aiden + Simon (heels) -- Aiden and Simon can't seem to get many wins nowadays. They still hold fast to their old timey entrance and gear, but maybe they need to change things up if they'd like to win some matches.

Bray Wyatt + Erick Rowan (heels) -- With Braun Strowman out with injury and Luke Harper drafted to Raw, it's Bray Wyatt leading Erick Rowan on the path. The only problem? Rowan hasn't delivered as many wins as Wyatt would like in the ring.

It's not normally a product I read too much about, and I think this is because creatively the summer of 2018 was not exactly the most interesting to read. Alas, let's jump in and see how you devolve from the real life product. You've unquestionably built a strong base to build from already with seven pages of context.

Jason Jordan was done massively dirty in his time on the active roster. It's nice to see him used in this kind of capacity, especially against Neville who was being wasted in 205 Live around this period, if I recall. William Regal's involvement was very interesting - not that Neville necessarily needs a mouthpiece, but this certainly doesn't hurt.

Unique Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. I totally get what you're going for with the Hardy Boyz, Dudley Boyz & Edge and Christian callback - but I'm not sure this theory is slightly overdone at this point. Alas, it has a great range of talent with the Usos, the Revival and Akam and Rezar. Not sure about Depths of Despair as a name, but it's not that different to Authors of Pain. The write-up was good.

JBL as RAW General Manager I've always thought fit like a glove - I always thought after his active career was over that he was destined to be a top-tier authority figure.

Becky Lynch and Rubi Riot sounded pretty dope, I love a good I Quit match stipulation. The finish was a little over the top for me to comprehend, but I like the idea and it gets Becky over at a crucial point in her career.

I figured the Fallen were a House of Black concept. The New Day losing really puts Aleister Black's trio over, and I do like Damian Priest on his side - but who is Judas exactly? I like your willingness to recreate identities for talent.

I'm not sure how I feel about the addition of two B-shows in Heat and Velocity. They make sense in a time where the WWE Network was ripe and looking for new content - but I'm not sure about introducing them. One must wonder the effectivity of an additional live show preluding their A-show counterpart.

Charlotte and Sasha Banks have quite solid good chemistry, but I believe this match took a backseat to the next big angle for the WWE Universal Women's Championship match - the stuff with Charlotte and Ronda Rousey. Kurt Angle's involvement really helped it, I thought.

Fenix is a fantastic addition for SmackDown - definitely at the prime peak of his career.

I was always a fan of the Scramble match, and was disappointed to see it become increasingly infrequent over time. Fun read, and I liked Kevin Owens backdooring his way to victory.

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins was always going to be a featured rivalry in 2018 and it was what it was. I'm surprised to see it as a standard match, but clearly the big injury angle leads to big things in the near future.

Yeesh, sorry for Paige and Nikki Bella to be put in the death slot. It read like it was the 2014 Divas division all over again.

Edge and Christian headlining SummerSlam is wild, but at least it makes sense. I'm not too sure how I feel about Edge returning after seven years in retirement to get a WWE Universal Championship opportunity. This story apexed well given what's happened recently in AEW. The right man won, and I'm curious to see how Edge's big comeback is booked.

Overall, a lot of building going on with programs in place for the fall season. It felt like a true-to-life show for the time for the most part, if not a little overbooked. I feel like the crowd would have definitely been exhausted after each of the big matches that would have transpired.

Hey DTP! I really appreciate you taking the time to read and give some feedback on this. A lot to explain on this one.

I've had this BTB written up for a while. SummerSlam took me about 5 months to get to, whether real life or writer's block happened. So I can see how releasing it now would put Edge and Christian's match in that light. I think I originally started to write Edge back (irl time around 2022). And the TLC was definitely a nod to the main event, which the event surrounded.

The Fallen, the idea was I wanted to keep Viktor in a "Jackyl" role after I released Konnor. Inspiration came from Don Callis being a manager/leader of a faction back in the late 90's during the Attitude Era. Wanted to find a way to introduce Aleister Black, Damian Priest, and Judas (Luchasaurus without his mask) to the main roster. Really loved Austin Matelson's look without the mask and went that route.

Heat and Velocity, I got the idea back when I attended Raw live in Greensboro earlier this year. Before the show, there's 2 matches for a recording Main Event, giving time to lower-card guys or some exposure for NXT guys. That's what I'll be doing with Heat and Velocity. Rather than pre-taping before Raw or SD and airing later in the week, just going to do it live on the WWE Network for anyone excited about wrestling.

2018 is an interesting year for the women in WISG. It feels like a big transitional period in this booker. Retiring the Divas title, replacing it with "Women's Titles" and yet struggling to get spots. Becky/Rubi helps, but there's the "cool off" match before the main event with Paige and Nikki, two contrasting styles of women's wrestler and WWE diva. And with a heavy show, like you said, needed something between Ambrose/Rollins and the main event.

Thanks for the read, bro! Your Pandemic Project has kept me in the BTB section for a while and excited to see how you're handling a very difficult time with that product.

Heat's debut in 2018 on the WWE Network
The show starts with various highlights from WWE Heat in the past before getting to its official intro. This new Heat package begins with showing various Raw superstars before welcoming commentators Ian Riccaboni and Raw's play-by-play, Paul Heyman. They're ready for this first match, a woman's match!
Asuka vs. Shayna Baszler
Featuring one of the premiere talents on the Raw roster against one of their prospects from this year's draft, Shayna Baszler from NXT. Asuka and Baszler have their technician battle before Baszler becomes overwhelmed by the strikes and gets caught in the Asuka Lock in the center of the ring, forcing Baszler to tap out.

A few highlights air from last night's SummerSlam, including Kevin Owens scathing by with the WWE Championship.

WWE Heat features a tweet from JBL earlier today saying something HUGE is happening at the top of the show tonight, and to not miss it! But Riccaboni and Heyman still have one match to go.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Montez Ford
The veteran Benjamin is off against, perhaps his former self, one-third of the Street Profits and Raw prospect Montez Ford. The prospect comes out by himself, however, and almost wins this match with a frog splash to the heavens, but Ford hurt his ribs and was slow to the cover so Benjamin just gets his shoulder up! Ford picks Benjamin up and gets caught in a T-Bone Suplex before Benjamin hits the Paydirt and gets a win.

After the match, Benjamin stays back to shake the hand of the young Montez Ford before Riccaboni thanks everyone for tuning in on the debut of Monday Night Heat courtesy of the WWE Network, inviting people to join Paul Heyman and Michael Cole in moments for Monday Night Raw where JBL guarantees "something HUGE" happening at 8 pm ET.

Monday Night Raw #1317
August 20, 2018
Brooklyn, NY

Some brief footage mixed with some still-shots air from last night's historic SummerSlam event, including SmackDown's main event when Edge returned from injury to defeat Christian and become the new WWE Universal Champion. A heavier focus on the Raw side of things, including Kevin Owens surviving the WWE Championship Scramble to remain champion. After the package, Michael Cole welcomes everyone to Monday Night Raw with a wide shot of the Barclays Center. We then hear a voice over the speakers... "Welcome to... RAW... IS... JERICHO!" The crowd goes nuts as "Break Down the Walls" hits and Chris Jericho is the one heading to the ring!

Chris Jericho takes in the standing ovation from the fans and the shock factor of him appearing for the first time in over 3 years on WWE programming. Jericho thanks the fans for that welcome, makes a joke about it feeling like 1999 all over again, and congratulating Edge on his return win last night. Jericho admits it's been a while and he's had fun elsewhere, but WWE is home. Jericho starts to address WHY he's here, but he's interrupted by Rusev and Lana. Rusev doesn't want to welcome Jericho back, because he's just here to take a spot from the younger talent like an Edge. This received boos, but Lana says Jericho shouldn't skyrocket to the main event, it should be the Bulgarian Brute. Lana issues a challenge to WWE Champion Kevin Owens tonight, and then comes United States Champion Bobby Lashley. Lashley pulls up footage of him dominating Kevin Owens throughout the match so he should be next in line... then the motorcycle revs. Baron Corbin rides around the ring, making his presence known, before he points out he had Bobby Lashley knocked out last night and was seconds from becoming the official WWE Champion before Owens swooped in like a coward, so he deserves it. They begin bickering before Jericho interrupts! Jericho gets back on topic and says he didn't want in the title picture right away, he is here for the future and to help the younger talent. Jericho said he didn't even want a match tonight, but knowing how Raw is, he comes prepared. Jericho says he can put his gear on and later tonight team with Baron Corbin against Bobby Lashley and Rusev. Jericho leaves, saying he's going to the back to make this official.

"What a start to Raw, Chris Jericho is back!" - Michael Cole
"Raw is Jericho, Michael? We'll find out if this is still Y2J's house tonight." - Paul Heyman

Out of the commercial break, Elias Samson is mid-entrance with Scarlett accompanying him. Elias gets on his barstool and with the mic setup, acknowledges his victory last night in this very arena against a former world champion, Dolph Ziggler. Elias lets the crowd know Scarlett has told him he'll be a future world champion in this business, and it wasn't until last night he has started to believe that. Elias woke up early this morning and wrote a song for Scarlett because of her support, and begins to play it... until Murphy's music hits and Elias isn't fond of the interruption prior to their scheduled match.

Elias Samson w/Scarlett vs. Murphy
Elias and Murphy in the opening match show there's potentially two future world champions on Monday Night Raw. Murphy's pulling out more of the hard strikes and a couple aerial assaults, but Elias is trying to ground Murphy the best he can. Once Elias and Murphy start slugging it out, Murphy pulls out a few kicks and a LOUD knee strike that puts Elias down. Murphy sets up for Murphy Law, but Scarlett gets on the apron. Murphy gets distracted, as does the official, allowing Elias to slam the guitar in the back of Murphy. The guitar shot is so loud the official turns around and sees Elias with the neck of the guitar in hand, Murphy laid out, and sees enough to call Murphy the winner by disqualification.

Elias is originally upset, but Scarlett draws him outside the ring, whispers in his ear, and this appears to calm Elias down as they leave Murphy pushing off the mat.

Chris Jericho is back in JBL's office and they greet one another with a handshake. JBL welcomes Jericho back. Jericho says it's glad to be back, even with their differences in the past, but JBL just reminds him they'll both make a lot of money. Jericho asks about the tag team match and JBL ups him. JBL says he loves the main event of Bobby Lashley and Rusev versus Baron Corbin and Chris Jericho, but needs a twist. JBL is willing to give the winners a triple threat match next week for the WWE Championship against Kevin Owens. Jericho admits he thinks it's a little soon, he doesn't want to step on toes of the younger guys and give them the wrong idea, but JBL's mind is made up and the match is official.

A pre-recorded interview today with Mickie James as she arrives at the arena, Charly Caruso catches up with her in the parking lot. Mickie admits last night was a pivotal point in women's wrestling. There's a WWE Women's Championship and now on SmackDown, a Universal Women's Championship. Mickie says Becky Lynch and WWE Women's Champion Paige were impressive and might be the future of this division, but calls herself the present, and she's not going anywhere anytime soon. Mickie says she plans to prove that tonight in her match against Alexa Bliss and start climbing the ladder, because whoever wins the inevitable title match between Paige and Lynch, she'll be waiting.

Alexa Bliss vs. Mickie James
Mickie's trying to prove a point, but Alexa Bliss is no slouch as a former 2-time Matrons Champion last year. This match gets about 9 minutes and Alexa misses Twisted Bliss, allowing Mickie James to go high-risk on the top rope herself and successfully hits Thesz Press before measuring for a Mick Kick and securing a win.

Mickie James celebrates but Nikki Bella stops her moment by having a microphone and stopping at the stage. Nikki asks about Mickie's words earlier, asking if the division is in a better spot because the Bella Twins aren't #1, aren't representing as champion? Nikki reminds Mickie that before she was this big "advocate" for women's wrestling, she was making out and fangirling over one of the big DIVAS of the WWE. Nikki says last night wasn't the end, but just a setback. Nikki says if Mickie wants to be in the title picture, she'll have to go through a Bella. Nikki's music hits and Mickie seems to nod in agreement of a potential showdown.

Backstage, Charly Caruso welcomes the new WWE Tag Team Champions, The Usos! Jimmy and Jey are over the moon about winning the tag titles last night. They admit they're sore but are here 365 days a year and ready for competition... but in walks Ortiz and Santana into the picture. Santana congratulates The Usos on bringing the WWE Tag Team Championships to Raw, and feels both teams share in their hardships about wrestling in trios action rather than tag team action. Ortiz speaks up and says they want those. Jimmy catches on and says they each got their gear on, so they're fine putting the tag titles on the line tonight and seeing who the best tag team in WWE is.

"So is that official Paul? Are we getting a tag team title defense tonight?" - Michael Cole
"I hope so, but after TLC last night, The Usos deserve to get humbled tonight. That's wrestling 101. You don't do that!" - Paul Heyman

Another video from earlier today plays for the audience. Finn Balor and Jordan Devlin are sulking in Balor failing to capture the WWE Championship last night, but Devlin trying to cheer Balor up with the fact "he at least pinned the United States Champion, Bobby Lashley." This doesn't appear to help, and Devlin asked for a favor he's been wanting for a long time, but didn't request because of Balor's title pursuits: a one-on-one dream match. Devlin says it's been his dream to face Balor and he wants to wrestle him, and after pondering it, Balor accepts the friendly fire for tonight... this is how we get to Jordan Devlin entering the ring on his own.

Finn Balor vs. Jordan Devlin
A handshake at the top, and now it's just a respectable exhibition between mentor and mentee. There's no signs of animosity between the two, but Devlin's lung blower earlier in the match would hurt Balor's ribs and breathing ability for the remainder of the contest. Devlin found an opening to put his mentor away with Ireland's Call, but Balor rolls Devlin up and the student barely gets out of it, only to get a standing double foot stomp, right before Balor would scale to the top in pain and hit the Coup de Grace to get the win.

Finn Balor celebrates, holding his ribs, and starts walking to the back until he stops and realizes Jordan Devlin is just getting to his feet in the ring. Balor gives a thumbs up towards Devlin before turning and heading back by himself.

WWE Champion Kevin Owens barges into JBL's office, complaining about Jericho being back and the stipulation around tonight's tag team match. Owens says he's already beat Lashley, already beat Corbin, Jericho's a has-been, and Rusev is a never-was. Owens is flipping out until he gets distracted by someone who lurks into the office, Shinsuke Nakamura. Owens asks who Nakamura's looking at, with no response, Nakamura tilts his head and gives off his cheesy grin. JBL tells Owens if he's so upset about next week's triple threat, he needs to be grateful, because it could be a fatal-four way. JBL makes a non-title match tonight for Kevin Owens, and if he loses to his opponent, that person will be inserted into next week's title match. Owens demands to know who, and JBL just motions towards Nakamura, and Owens storms out more unsatisfied when he originally came to the General Manager.

The Fallen are in a dimly light part of the arena and Viktor fronts the group. The mouthpiece says he's heard whispers criticizing The Fallen last night for failing to capture the WWE Trios Championships, but Viktor affirms their mission was not about the titles last night - it was about showing The New Day are frauds, calling the champions weak. Viktor says after demonstrating what they can do to Kane, Matt Hardy, and The New Day, the entire locker room is on notice.

The Usos(c) vs. Santana & Ortiz for the WWE Tag Team Championships
24 hours after a brutal TLC match, The Usos are feeling the effects and the fresh tandem of Santana and Ortiz are taking full advantage of the fatigue level of the new champions. They're hungry and come close by hitting their finishing Street Sweeper on Jey Uso, but Jimmy makes the save at the last second! The four teams begin to go at it before Jey hits a clothesline on Santana on the outside and hits a diving splash to the floor. Ortiz and Jimmy are countering each other's move before Jimmy lays both out with a clothesline. The two begin to rise to their feet before the lights go out. When they come back on, The Fallen's Damian Priest and Judas are in the ring. They run over Jimmy Uso before the official calls for the bell.

On the outside, Aleister Black is there to hit a Black Mass on Jey Uso and throws Ortiz into the steel steps while Priest and Judas take care of the two inside the ring. The final nail in the coffin is the Tombstone Piledriver by Judas on Santana before The Fallen stand over the ring, making their presence known once again and interrupting a championship match.

Baron Corbin is prepping for his main event match later tonight when Chris Jericho stops by. Jericho tells Corbin he's watched him from afar and is excited to team with him tonight, because fresh partners and opponents is why he's back here in the WWE. Corbin admits to Jericho he's one of the pioneers, but make no mistake, after they take care of business tonight, the partnership is over. Corbin calls his shot, saying he'll be the new WWE Champion next week. Jericho just smiles and nods before patting Corbin on the shoulder and walking away.

Becky Lynch's music hits and Lynch slowly makes her way ringside. Lynch acknowledges her fans before joining Michael Cole and Paul Heyman at commentary for this next match.

Paige vs. Emma in a non-title match
Becky Lynch admits she's at commentary to collect a paycheck and to scout the Women's Champion Paige. Paige and Emma, two familiar foes since their days in NXT, are pretty even in this contest. Michael Cole asks Becky when she'll collect her title match she earned last night, but Lynch doesn't give an answer, but deflects to the beating her and Rubi Riot gave each other last night at SummerSlam. Becky even plugs the WWE Network if fans happened to miss it! But the match in the ring, Emma hits the Emma Sandwich and gets a close count on the champion. Emma tries hooking in the Emma Lock, but Paige battles out of it and doesn't let her. Paige gets back to her feet and hits the Paige Turner, and knowing Emma is no easy task, picks her up and hits the RamPaige before she hooks the leg and wins.

Paige gets her title and immediately locks eyes from afar with her #1 contender, Becky Lynch as the challenger throws her headset down and Cole mentions he can't wait for these two to lock it up!

The Usos stop Raw GM John Bradshaw Layfield in the hallway, and the WWE Tag Team Champions are hurting and irate. The Usos say Monday Night Raw has a problem and it's The Fallen. The Usos demand a match against any two members of The Fallen next week on Raw, but JBL says he can't do that. When they ask why not, JBL says he's been talking with SmackDown's Kurt Angle since last night and just a few moments ago, they finalized a trade. JBL says to pack their bags, The Usos are going to SmackDown. The Usos aren't comprehending why he'd trade the WWE Tag Team Champions now, but JBL just wishes them the best on Tuesday Nights.

"The Usos are going to SmackDown?!" - Michael Cole
"Noooo! John, why would you do that? You don't trade your tag team champions!" - Paul Heyman
"The Usos will be missed here on Raw, but I wonder what JBL accepted for The Usos?" - Michael Cole
"It better be a haul, Michael!" - Paul Heyman

Kevin Owens vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a non-title match
The WWE Champion was visibly upset about how his night's been handled by JBL, and this is giving Nakamura an edge as Owens stays mentally distracted. Owens gets his head in the game and starts showing why he's WWE Champion, but Nakamura is just as hungry to get in the WWE Championship match next week. Nakamura hits an inverted powerslam to set up for the Kinshasa, but as Owens realizes it, he drops to the mat and rolls out of the ring. Nakamura chases Owens and nearly gets caught in his trap. Owens tries for the Powerbomb on the ring apron, but Nakamura fights out of it and hits a few strikes including an elbow that dazes the WWE Champion to a knee. Nakamura rolls Owens back in the ring and Nakamura measures up for the Kinshasa, but Owens counters in the Popup Powerbomb! Owens drops to the pin and the official counts three.

Kevin Owens slowly gets to this feet after a tough victory on Raw to keep the WWE Championship match next week down to a triple threat. Owens can't even celebrate or catch his breath before the motorcycle revs and Baron Corbin heads down as Owens decides to exit through the crowd to avoid a confrontation with Baron Corbin before Raw goes to a commercial break prior to the main event.

Rusev is mid-entrance out of the commercial before Michael Cole and Paul Heyman explain what's happening next week on Monday Night Raw:
- Mickie James vs. Nikki Bella
- Murphy's been granted a rematch against Elias Samson
- Who's been traded to Raw for The Usos?
- WWE Championship triple threat match!

"And we find out who will challenge Kevin Owens for the WWE Championship next week in Toronto right now! The winning team will occupy those two spots and hope to dethrone Owens in his home country." - Michael Cole

Baron Corbin & Chris Jericho vs. Bobby Lashley & Rusev w/Lana
WWE Champion Kevin Owens is shown to have found a spot in the back to watch this main event, concerned about who will challenge him next week for the title. Corbin and Lashley started this match, but everyone got excited when Chris Jericho was tagged in and is competing for the first time in WWE in over 3 years. Jericho locked up with Rusev and hit a few of his signature moves before tagging Corbin back in. The crowd is hot for this match tonight!

Towards the end, Jericho was getting the beatdown by Rusev and almost got trapped in the Accolade, but raced to the rope to avoid it. Rusev kept targeting the back of Jericho before tagging Lashley and letting Lashley do it. The United States Champion tried a Dominator but Jericho slipped behind Lashley and hot-tagged Corbin. The Lone Wolf went off on both Lashley and Rusev. Corbin knocked Rusev out of the ring and was getting some major offense on Corbin, before he irish-whipped Lashley into his own corner and Rusev got the blind tag before Corbin hit a massive clothesline in the corner. Corbin measures Lashley up for End of Days, but Rusev kicks Corbin in the back of the head and locks in The Accolade. Jericho then comes in and his a basement dropkick on Rusev to have him let go. Jericho gets some offense in, including a springboard moonsault that gets the crowd hype. Jericho then goes for the Codebreaker but Rusev catches Jericho and offensively goes for the Walls of Jericho, but Jericho knows better than anyone else to counter it. Jericho gets to his feet just in time to catch Rusev with a Codebreaker before he stumbles into an End of Days by Baron Corbin! Corbin goes for the pin and Jericho hits a baseball slide on Lashley to prevent him from breaking up the pin!

Baron Corbin's music hits as he and Chris Jericho hug after Jericho's first match back being a win. Kevin Owens is sitting backstage fuming about this result. Corbin and Jericho both get their hands raised and all of a sudden, Corbin gets Jericho and hits an End of Days! Corbin stands over Jericho and motions he'll be the next WWE Champion as the triple threat is made official for next week.
