I literally invisioned this as Wrestling competition show. I am excited.
WWE announced Thursday major details on the new season of "Tough Enough" premiering Tuesday, June 23:
- The show will be hosted by Chris Jericho, following the pattern of Jericho replacing "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in WWE-related programs.
- The format sounds similar to the original NXT show in a live, arena-based setting at the Performance Center and Full Sail University in Florida, as opposed to the previous format hosted by Austin that was post-edited from Los Angeles.
“A live global telecast, real-time voting with immediate results, and unprecedented use of digital and social media during and between telecasts will all lead to a groundbreaking viewing experience," said WWE executive TV producer Kevin Dunn.
- Daniel Bryan, an original NXT contestant, will be part of the "panel of experts" with Hulk Hogan and Paige.
- Trainers will include Booker T, Billy Gunn, and Lita.
- Contestants will "also come face-to-face" with Vince McMahon, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and John Cena during the evaluation process.
- The one-hour show each Tuesday night this summer "will include live results every week, giving fans worldwide the power to decide who stays and who goes the very same night."
Each week, one cast member will be eliminated until one man and one woman are determined the winners to receive a one-year, $250,000 WWE contract.
- WWE will launch a free Tough Enough App on Monday, May 25 for fans to vote, watch audition tapes, and learn about the contestants. [ Video Compilation HERE ]
- The series will be produced by WWE, USA Network, and Left Hook Media.
