Host: Stone Cold Steve Austin
Trainers: Booker T, Trish Stratus, Bill DeMott

Number of Participants: 14 (Miss USA Rima Fakih is confirmed as one of the participants.)

Every week there will be a WWE superstar featured on the show.

This show is starting to look quite good. The host is awesome and two of the trainers are great, I still don't know why DeMott was brought back for this rather than using someone like Finlay or Malenko who already work backstage for WWE. Each week having a WWE superstar will make it more interesting and should keep the ratings up. I am optimistic about this show now and I hope that it will air overseas and not just in the US.

Will you be watching?

I'll be watching. Mainly because I have nothing better to do after RAW ends anyway, but nevertheless. I wasn't a wrestling fan during the original Tough Enough days, so this will be a brand new experience for me. I wish they'd announce a few more of the competitors, however, just a few more. Rima Fakih is hot, but she doesn't exactly get me amped for the show. I heard a few indie wrestlers will be competing, so that should be interesting.

First look at Tough Enough 2011. Bill DeMott looks like a jerk in this video and reading the rumours he has been really tough on the contestants which I thought was why WWE fired him as a trainer to begin with. Yes it is meant to be tough but DeMott seems to be taking over from Hardcore Holly as the guy that wants to prove himself. Looks cool though.

You don't get tough in training, then how do you expect to survive the grueling world of professional wrestling? It is no different than other wrestling schools. So I think Demott is doing his job to a tee. If he's a jerk and a bully, well thats just the tip of the iceberg in the business so welcome to spandex land kid.

It just seems so kayfabe to me the way he was talking. We are in the 21st century now not the 1970's so yes they should be pushed hard in training but the way he is acting just seems over the top.

Sometimes kayfabe isn't that far off from reality, I've seen some wrestling schools when I was seriously considering a career a few years ago. Most of them were like that.

USA Network said:
The USA Network has revealed the entire cast of the upcoming season of Tough Enough, which premieres April 4 following Raw.
The cast features nine men and five women, many of whom possessing independent wrestling experience.

A.J. Kirsch: A.J., 27, has been wrestling on the independent circuit for five years. Among his achievements is a one and a half year undefeated All Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship in addition to a tag team victory over the infamous New Age Outlaws.

Andy Leavine: This 6’5″ giant hails from Brooksville, Florida where he had four years of high school varsity wrestling experience with a record of over 90 wins. The 23-year-old former football player has a mere six months of independent wrestling experience. Starting over 40 games as an offensive lineman for Florida International University, Andy holds the school’s power clean record of 365 lbs. After FIU, he was a priority free agent with the Miami Dolphins and attended mini-camps, before hanging up his cleats to pursue his dream to entertain in the ring.

Eric Watts: Eric, 25, hopes to become a WWE Superstar to fulfill his childhood dream. “WWE needs my afro and my tall, dark and handsome good looks,” says the 6’5″ behemoth. Eric hails from Pasadena, California where he spent two years on his High School varsity football team as left tackle, earning All-League Honors. Eric was recruited by colleges for football, but opted not to attend so he could pursue his dream.

Jeremiah Riggs: This 28-year-old truck driver from Vicksburg, Mississippi is a natural athlete who prides himself on taking on new challenges. He was a US Army Ranger with the 1st Battalion and did a tour in Afghanistan in 2004. He has six years of training as an MMA Fighter with a record of seven wins and five losses, fighting with UFC, Strikeforce and Bellator. He is trying to become the first legitimate MMA fighter to crossover into WWE.

Luke Robinson: Luke, 26, is a Personal Trainer from Auburn, Maine with five years of independent circuit experience. For him, WWE combines all his passions rolled into one: performing, marketing, athleticism and traveling. Luke proved his athleticism as captain of his high school’s varsity soccer, hockey and baseball teams, competing all four years, before moving on to getting his BA in Business Administration from University of Southern Maine.

Martin Casaus Martin, 26, is a stockbroker and independent wrestler hailing from West Jordan, Utah. He gained his experience wresting for six and a half years on the independent circuit. He is also co-owner of Ultra Championship Wrestling Zero, a promotion and wrestling school.

Matt Capiccioni: Matt, 30, is an independent wrestler with nine years of independent circuit experience from Brecksville, Ohio. He has wrestled in sixteen countries and hopes to win “WWE Tough Enough” and a WWE contract so he “can have a fun job.” “You can see the world in spandex and smash things,” he explains.

Mickael Zaki: Mickael, 26, is an unemployed WWE hopeful hailing from Jersey City, NJ. He has lived the 9 to 5 lifestyle and hated every second of it. For him, being a WWE Superstar would allow him to escape this fate.

Ryan Howe: This 23-year-old aspiring musician and independent wrestler hails from Hebron, Indiana. He has two years of wrestling experience and hopes to win “WWE Tough Enough” and a WWE contract to make everyone who ever believed in him proud, especially his family, his trainer, Tracy Smothers, and his girlfriend, Tiffany.

Ariane Andrew: The 23-year-old Ariane is the quintessential Valley Girl. What Ariane lacks in wrestling experience she makes up for with bubbly charm. Ariane hopes to become
a WWE diva so she can display her alter-ego, a hard-edged girl that doesn’t give a crap.

Christina Crawford: Christina, 22, is a senior at the University of Central Florida studying Interpersonal Communications. She is a member of her college dance team.

Ivelisse Velez: An assistant pet groomer in Chicago, Illinois, the 22-year-old has spent the last six years on the independent circuit and is well known in her native Puerto Rico.

Michelle Deighton: This 25-year-old day care teacher from Terre Haute, Indiana, hopes to become a WWE Diva to fulfill a dream she has had since the age of 14. She loves the road lifestyle, living out of a suitcase and traveling. She has trained on and off in independent wrestling over the past 11 years.

Rima Fakih Rima is Miss USA 2010. The 25-year-old hails from Dearborn, Michigan where she received a BA in Economics and BA in Business Management from University of Michigan. Rima hopes to win “WWE Tough Enough” to prove that it is possible to be both beautiful and tough.

What do you think about the list of contestants? Do you know any of the names listed?

I have no idea who this Jeremiah Riggs is, but I definitely tell you he never fought for the UFC, losing an exhibition fight to get onto TUF is not a fight for the org.

They have just announced that The Rock will appear on one episode of this season of Tough Enough.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that WWE and USA Network have built this up so much that it will be a success. They have thrown all their big names at the show, they are promoting it more than they did for NXT, it is being shown on a major channel (USA Network) rather than an obscure channel like SyFy or MyNetworkTV and it is the lead-in show to RAW. Can this fail?

The Tough Enough series will likely be carried on USA's Video on Demand channel after the episodes initially air. Beyond that, Leon Peters sent the following....In addition to the first airing on Monday April 4th immediately after Raw at 11:05pm ET, Tough Enough will also be replayed back to back on the same night at 12:05am and again at 1:05am. So the first episode, which is titled "Get Your Teeth Out Of My Ring", will air 3 times in a row. That also means USA Network will have a 6 hour block of WWE programming on April 4th with the Hall Of Fame at 8pm, Raw at 9pm and the 3 airings of Tough Enough beginning at 11:05pm.

There will be another airing of the first episode right before SmackDown on Friday April 8th at 7pm ET on SyFy, so it appears the series will get replays on Friday as well.

USA are really pushing this with the amount of replays it is getting. I like the idea of replaying it right before Smackdown on SyFy, people will be planning on watching wrestling on Friday and it will entice more to tune in on the Monday if they like what they see on the replay.

We also now know the title of the first episode "Get Your Teeth Out Of My Ring" What's the bet that Bill DeMott was the one that said that?

Also it was announced that not only will The Rock appear on TE but James Roday, from Psych, will appear as well. Why I have no idea, maybe to help with promos, but still he is awesome and Psych is the best comedy currently on tv.

I just hope that Fox8 in Australia airs the show so I can watch it. Every news item I read about the show makes it sound better and better and now my expectations are very high. If it airs here I will watch the first episode and go from there.

I was just looking at the contestant list, and though everyone was like oh, it's already trained talent, we have people like rima fakih who have probably never wrestled before TE.

The majority are trained, which makes sense since if they really want to get into WWE then they would have already trained as a wrestler somewhere, but someone like Rima Fakih is there for publicity and most Diva's make it to WWE with no prior training anyway.

Steve Austin has an interview with IGN to promote Tough Enough at this link.

The article noted that the series will have the Tough Enough "Bottom 3" where each week, Austin will pick three "lowest level performers" and they will have to convince him why they need to stay on the show. Based on that, he will eliminate one of them.
Austin commented, "My job is to sort through these contestants, weed out the weak and find the strong, and look for the person who is strong enough and tough enough and smart enough to be a WWE superstar. You know, there's a lot of people that can get in this ring at a local or independent level, but it take a real special person to compete at the level of the WWE superstars and divas do. So, it's my job to weed through that. Some of [the contestants] are green as grass, some of them have never really been in a ring before. Some of them have quite a few years of experience. But I paid a lot of dues when I broke into this business. I want them to learn to respect what goes on inside this 20x20 ring, and just pay some dues, as much as they can, while they're here, and to learn this business from the bottom up. I just want them to have a sense of really what are the responsibilities of a WWE superstar, and I want them to pay some dues, and I want them to appreciate the rise or fall, but I want them to have a good time while they're here."

I am glad there is no audience voting for this series. Leaving it to Austin, other producers will have their say as well which is what happens in all reality shows, makes it seem more authentic. Gives us a guide as well at the consistent performers.

Tough Enough debuts tonight. Unfortunately it hasn't been picked up in Australia so we won't get to see it. Let us know what the show is like.
