WWE Teasing a Huge Match for Triple H at WrestleMania 31

We noted before that there will be a backstage segment with The Rock, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon on this Friday's SmackDown. A match between Triple H and The Rock was teased in that segment and at least one other time during the tapings.

The tease was for a potential WrestleMania 31 match between the two. Rock vs. Triple H was discussed at one point for WrestleMania XXX but obviously didn't happen.

The backstage segment that airs on Friday's SmackDown shows the two going back and forth over who would win if they wrestled again and the two taking shots at each other. Rock actually brought up the main event of WrestleMania 31 and WWE usually doesn't tease something in that direction if it's not in the plans.

I didn't watch SmackDown so I didn't get to see this segment but it does seem plausible because Rock said he would only come back to work with guys who he could make money with, and other than Brock this is probably the biggest match they could do.

their little interaction just showed how shallow their mainevent scene is.

Cena, Brock and who else? Are there anyone else that could even have a segment as entertaining as these two? This is what I miss about wrestling before the smarks took their toll on the industry.

WWE needs more men in their mainevent programming....not boys. Meaning stop this youngboy fetish.

Tangent aside, I'd rather see these two face eachother for the millionth time than Rock vs some nobody who may not even pan out for them in the future. Or Brock who may Taker him and there goes Hollywood.

Lol @ that dirt sheet report saying WWE don't tease matches if they aren't gonna happen. Because Austin vs Hogan happened m I rite.

Pretty sure this is not going to happen and is just going to stay in that segment which was very entertaining. The whole WWE always does matches they tease thing is so funny considering they do it all the time on WWE.com as what if scenarios.

Unless they drag up the real life heat from the past between these two I don't see a lot of point in this match. I guess it could be a nice supporting feature, but certainly the Rock has seen better days in ring.

The point is, Wrestlemania ain't gonna have a lot of appeal to it unless you rope in some big Attitude era stars for 'special' matches.

I challenge you to fantasy book Mania using only current main roster guys, then ask yourself if anyone other than hardcores will buy it.

Mania usually sells itself solely on the name, people buy tickets long before the card is announced, but you stack it with unknowns and lose the massive draw of Takers streak, you don't really have much to go with.

Yeah losing that and the MITB, makes Mania look a little plain.

Need a new gimmick idea IMO.

They might have the memorial battle royal yearly, but that's kind of a meh gimmick tbh.

MITB had run its course at Mania anyway not least because of it having its own PPV.

I like the idea of featuring the memorial battle royal each year. As long as they make a big deal out of the winner and promote it like this year's then I think it has value.

MITB would be so much better at 'Mania and just scrap the PPV all together. Especially since there's only one belt now.

They should scrap TLC not the mitb ppv. Then make a TLC match for the tag belts a yearly thing
