Well, I'm assuming this is the final nail in the coffin for my ideal situation of Ryback vs. Punk at Mania. Even though they'll still have Rock, Brock and the rest on the card, I don't imagine WWE booking Punk vs. Ryback at WrestleMania after having it take place for free on Raw just a little under two months prior. Also, can't imagine them doing that big of a screw job finish [if at all] because they're going to want CM Punk to look his strongest when he goes up against The Rock. I mean, a relatively clean victory over Ryback would accomplish that.
When I say relatively clean, I mean something like the ref get's knocked out, The Shield comes out, but Ryback is able to deal with them all without taking too much, if any, damage before kicking them out of the ring. Then CM Punk takes advantage of the distraction they caused and hit him with a GTS. Or something similar with Paul Heyman, stuff like that. A finish like that not only ends the rivalry of Punk/Ryback, it keeps Ryback strong, Punk wins on his own merit (opportunistically but still), but you also set up a valid reason to ban anyone from ringside for the Rock/Punk match if you want to go that route for the match.
But despite this kind of confirming Ryback/Punk isn't happening at Mania, I'm okay with this. Part of it's because I've already kind of accepted what I want isn't where WWE is going, only keeping on to slim optimism. Part of it's probably because I've also kind of giving up on WWE and have barely watched wrestling in the past few months so I'm no longer invested in the outcome. I will probably watch the 20th anniversary fully depending on what else they've got cooking for it.
