WWE Smackdown Discussion (August 30, 2011)

-- WWE's live Super Smackdown episode Tuesday night on Syfy will begin at 7:00 p.m. CST local time from Wichita, Ks.

The actual taping is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., which gives WWE 30 minutes to tape Smackdown brand matches for Superstars or quickly tape Tuesday night's NXT episode before the live Smackdown.

-- WWE is advertising a "triple main event" for the live Smackdown, highlighted by World Hvt. champion Randy Orton vs. Christian in a steel cage match for the World Title.

Announced on Raw is John Cena vs. Wade Barrett and C.M. Punk vs. Great Khali. WWE is no longer officially advertising WWE champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Sin Cara, although it was advertised early on during Monday's Raw episode.

-- WWE COO Triple H is scheduled for Super Smackdown along with other stars from the Raw brand. Hunter is expected to address the combination of Raw and Smackdown brands on each Monday's Raw episode and his match against Punk announced for the Night of Champions PPV.​

I'm really excited for this show. Live shows are always great when not the norm and this is no exception. Cage match should own, even though Orton is obviously going to win. Looking forward to seeing where Christian goes after this. Should be fun.

Tonight should be the best Smackdown this year, especially with the carryover from last night.

The writers are apparently stressed because tonight is a test to see if Smackdown could run live every week... and there are rumors Vince wants to move Smackdown from Fridays...

Cena vs Barrett and Punk vs Khali? Meh. Smackdown has a much stronger roster than that.
