Mauro Ranallo, Mike Tenay, Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone would beg to differ.
I mean yeah those are all better (except for later WCW years Schiavone), but I'd argue they still don't go out of their way providing analysis, they just call play-by-play better than Cole, Tenay might be the exception there bc he had to carry Don West for so long and JR also did more of it than other play-by-play guys. I've been growing higher and higher on Cole as the years go by once he stopped his heel run, but what really made me a fan was his stuff in the Mae Young and United Kingdom shows when he didn't have Vince in his ear, dude was amazing, especially when it was just him and Nigel.
