I like how they set up this contenders match, because it gives Eric a rational reason to hand the new belt to Triple H later. Since he he should be the champion if the champion refuses to face him. So split the belt in two and give the new disputed versions to Brock and Hunter.

Yeah, you can see it both ways, but if you think about someone refusing to face their challenger would normally result in a forfeit so Triple H has a legit claim to the whole thing, but half of the belt is a nice comprise.
