Last night at SummerSlam, one of the most highly-anticipated rematches in WWE history was marred in controversy. In the final moments of the epic battle, the referee failed to see The Undertaker tapout to the Kimura Lock; the timekeeper, however, did see it and rang the bell without the referee’s instruction. While official Charles Robinson argued with the timekeeper, The Deadman dealt a low blow and made a defiant Lesnar pass out in Hell’s Gate and The Phenom was declared the winner.
So, who truly deserves the victory? In the wake of this epic showdown, it’s hard to image what could possibly happen next. Will The Authority weigh in tonight on Raw? Are the timekeeper or referee’s jobs at risk?
Rumors are already circulating that Brock Lesnar himself might stay in Brooklyn for tonight’s Raw rather than fly home to the Minnesota wild. If that’s true, all we can say is that everybody had better run. After all, recent history dictates that whenever a WWE Network event does not go his way, there’s a high probability that The Beast Incarnate will turn WWE’s flagship show upside down.
Believe us when we say you do not want to miss a moment of tonight’s Raw, LIVE at 8/7 C on USA Network.
Yes, it actually happened. At The Biggest Event of the Summer, Seth Rollins scored an ultra-controversial victory over John Cena, thanks to the shocking assistance of SummerSlam host Jon Stewart! In doing so, The Architect earned the right to be called both the WWE World Heavyweight and United States Champion.
Stewart’s actions, however, creates many of questions. Perhaps the biggest is why the former “Daily Show” host would help Rollins in the first place, especially considering their turbulent history in previous months? Could Stewart and Rollins have actually been in cahoots the entire time?
Speaking of Rollins, last week on Raw, The Architect requested that if he beat Cena at SummerSlam, he receive a statue of himself in WWE’s Corporate Headquarters, alongside the likes of WWE Hall of Famers The Ultimate Warrior, Bruno Sammartino and Andre the Giant. Will he get one? Should he?
And what will the Leader of the Cenation have to say about it, when all is said and done? Perhaps we’ll find out tonight on Raw.
In front of the capacity crowd at SummerSlam, The New Day overcame reigning titleholders The Prime Time Players, Los Matadores & The Lucha Dragons to become WWE Tag Team Champions for a second time!
With the “power of positivity” now sitting high atop of the tag team division, who will step up to try and dethrone them? Certainly Titus O’Neil & Darren Young will be clamoring for their rematch. But what of their other SummerSlam opponents? Could Los Matadores or The Lucha Dragons step up again? Or might others look to position themselves for a chance at glory? Surely, combinations like Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns or Wyatt & Luke Harper could present strong challenges to the new titleholders.
Most importantly, will that challenge show its face tonight? Find out on USA Network tonight at 8/7 C.
Indeed, women are taking the world of sports by storm, manifested in WWE by the Divas Revolution. That movement seems stronger than ever after Team PCB triumphed over Team Bella and Team B.A.D. in a Divas Three-Team Elimination Tag Match at SummerSlam when PCB scored the pin.
However, what will this huge win mean to the current power struggle in the Divas division? Is there a title opportunity in PCB’s immediate future? Certainly this will come into question sooner or later. With Nikki Bella on the cusp of possibly surpassing AJ Lee as the longest-reigning Divas Champion in WWE history, the pressure is definitely on. Moreover, during SummerSlam Kickoff, one of the Principal Owners of WWE, Stephanie McMahon, said of the contest, “To the victor goes the spoils.”
If the triumph does imply a chance at the Butterfly-emblazoned title, who would get it? Becky Lynch, the competitor who scored the SummerSlam victory? The dangerous Charlotte, daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair? Or, the Diva credited with sparking the Revolution, Paige? .
One thing is certain. Following Team Bella’s loss at The Biggest Event of the Summer, Nikki Bella looked extremely nervous, and she should be. Team Bellas’ swagger centers around the Divas Title and that could be gone with a single three-count.
One of the brightest stars at SummerSlam certainly has to be the tag team combination of Neville & Stephen Amell, star of the hit show “Arrow.” Their battle against arch-nemeses Stardust and King Barrett was the stuff that true summer blockbusters are made of.
Amell clearly surprised many with his athletic ability, as he and his partner reigned supreme Sunday night. But now that Stardust has “failed his city,” is the WWE Universe ready for the fallout? After all, when comic-book supervillains fall short of his master plans, he’s hardly ever done for good. More often than not, it’s only a matter of time before the villain strikes again .
It will be very interesting to find out what Stardust will do next, and whether we will find out on Raw, tonight at 8/7 C on USA Network. And before that, be sure to watch the Raw Pre-Show at 7:30 ET on the award-winning WWE Network!
