PWMania, com reported that WWE has invited the first openly gay NFL draftee Michael Sam to next Monday’s RAW from Baltimore and will give him an open mic. Stephanie McMahon wrote the following open letter to Sam on WWE’s website:

Exhibiting class and dignity rarely shown in professional sports, Michael Sam, WWE invites you to next Monday’s Raw to speak of your struggles to succeed, lessons you have learned along the way, the courage it takes to be yourself and the prospects of your continued journey.

You are a role model, who, by example, can encourage everyone to stand up and openly be themselves.

Signed,
Stephanie McMahon
CBO, WWE

Obvious ratings ploy to combat first Monday Night Football, but if they get attention for this, it worked.....If the guy actually accepts their invite...even better.

He don't show up, Michael Samdow probably.....This screams Vince idea.

Eh, I can't think of many situations like this in the past 10 years that actually helped the show in ratings... It gets pretty annoying when they do this shit. As a wrestling fan it's annoying since the guy will probably never come back or contribute anything worth while to the product. And as die-hard football fans, I don't really think they'll care to see a player on a wrestling show. But who knows...

I'm really cringing at this because this is totally going against his bs about how he just wants to be a football player like everyone else yet he is about to do this as a total novelty. And then if they do the shit where he doesn't actually show up and they do some kind of spoof situation it is really going to be hard to watch.

Doubt the guy takes them up on their invite, just a ploy to get people talking, like he Obama/Hilary and Trump/O'Donnell shit.....couldn't be worse than the Bella/Springer shit.

Raw don't look too watchable nextweek.

The Dallas Cowboys have signed Michael Sam, the first openly gay NFL draftee. WWE has congratulated Sam and extended the invite for any future RAW. They wrote on WWE.com:

“Congratulations to Michael Sam on signing with the Dallas Cowboys! WWE will extend its invitation for Michael Sam to appear on any future Monday Night Raw he wishes. We offer our support for Michael as he continues his journey.”

Recovered the fumble.

You can tell they're just doing this because I guess he's somewhat relevant now because I swear they didn't do anything for D Young (thank god) when he came out to TMZ and had some positive buzz around him.

What exactly do you think WWE was going to do with the guy? Have him cut promos about how he's a homo and wasn't accepted because he kissed a boy and liked it?

Darren Young thing was the best way to handle his situation, like any normal person in the 21st century should "Oh he's gay? Good for him".

I wasn't expecting them to do anything with it but what they're trying to do with this football guy is basically the exact same thing you just put. Look after your own house.

It's a cheap ploy to get publicity, not like it's not the first time they did something like it. Not like alot of wrestling companies haven't done stuff like this, using national news stories to get your name out there is just something people do.

I understand all this, I'm just saying that they could have still done this scenario but with D Young when he was gathering a bunch of publicity.

Don't you remember neckbeard nation crying for two pages on how the Prime time Players were winning matches? Imagine what happens if they actually tried pushing Darren Young when he wasn't anywhere near ready for midcard or higher.

If Michael Sam was any good, I'd give a shit. When Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier it was amazing. This guy is garbage and shouldn't just get any of this attention UNTIL he proves he actually belongs on an NFL field. Fuck this Raw.
