The thing i hate about Cena is his stupid tough guy routine. Stone Cold was entertaining and believeable John Cena is not.

^It's fine to hate Cena and all, that's your opinion, but really? Come on!
Austin (who is one of my favourites of all time, and 10 time sbetter than Cena) had 10 times moreo f a tough guy act than Cena. Giving the finger to the boss, stunning him, swearing, beating people down backstage, etc, is much of of a tough guy act than what Cena does, which is basically "I will not quit, I will not go down without a fight".
Austin had a huge tough guy act, lol.

When WWE does something right...they also have to do something soooo wrong at the same time.
Jericho cuts his little promo.....BUT WAIT!!!!!
Cut to Cena standing in a sea of children...."THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT HYPOCRITES!!!!" as a pudgy little 11 year old with glassy eyes and snot running from his nose onto his oversized, overpriced John Cena shirt stares up with a dumbfounded expression at the word HIPPO...CRIT?
Then teh Cena marches down to the ring and suddenly gets all fuckin hardcore out of nowherezz!?11!?

If they had just skipped Cenas whole B.S. promo...the children...all that bullshit the beatdown would have done soooo much more for him. It would have said that Cena was back and means business...no more marine bullshit...no more corny ass jokes. It would have been the perfect way to bring him back at least a little bit fresh.
Does Cena need a heel turn? Absolutely. But in Orton for him to do so WWE also needs a few guys to turn face. RAW is absolutely flooded with heels right now.

Well, here is my take.

Last night, I think we saw the death of kiss ass Cena. The beginning of that segment last night was one of the single most pathetic displays I have ever witnessed. "Jericho, *chokes up*, we are good enough!!!" Give me a damn break.

I actually threw my Chain Gang Spinner pendent out the window.

Then...when all hope is lost...and just as I am about to place an order for the new Rey Mysterio mask on wweshop.com, a switch flips in Cena. We see Mr. Fair Play, Mr. Respect, Mr Loyalty, beat a defenseless man to within and inch of his life.

Its almost as if Cena realized that hanging out with 10 year olds and kissing ass wasn't going to cut it anymore. He hit rock bottom with his ass kissing ways. It was time to be ruthless.

I think from here on out, Cena will realize that kicking the shit out of people actually makes him feel good. Once a chain gang soldier tastes blood its all over.

I didn't see RAW, I watched the little recap vid, and I have to ask - how far do you go with this, to make him ruthless?

I was thinking the same thing when I watched the video, but the main question going through my mind was - how far is this going to go? He needs to freshen up his character, and going wrank on Jericho on one RAW isn't going to cut a new 'ruthless Cena' for me or anyone. They have to really push the envelope in this, keep him face if need be (heel would work so much better) and have him do this sort of thing more often, not just when he really gets pushed over the limit.

^Absolutely...a one shot deal won't do anything for his character. But as you said, if they're planning on keeping him face he can only go so far with his new found aggression. Who could they have them do that to? Orton? JBL? We can't just have him destroying people on a whim. It would still be Superman Cena...with a violent streak.

You ever think WWE is just as confused as all of us with what to do with a guy like Cena? Someone who has grown so insanely popular...yet so hated at the same time? One thing is to be said...the guy sure is a first...lol

You know, bottom line is, in reality, WWE is not turning Cena heel anytime soon. He's the top face, and it's quite obvious they are pushing Randy Orton as their top heel. Sending him on SD wouldn't work, as Hardy and HHH are already there, and as heel, there's La Familia.

The only way I see Cena being turn heel is if what happened to The Rock happens to him, in which EVERYONE turned on him and his face character.

Idk man i think its possible. Cena can pull off pretty much anything on the mic and im almost certain that he could fill a heel role perfectly. Then put him and orton in a feud. Its usually heel vs. face but randy is so badass and cena is so well-known that it would be just as successful as your traditional feud.
