Please, PLEASE, FUCKING PLEASE TURN CENA HEEL.
God damn, it's killing me watching him. I have respect for him and all that, bu tit's such a waste as a face.

And, no, this actually isn't because he's stale. I actually found his promo last night to be quite good, and I think it's good he's back.
But for god sake.
We all know he has a fanbase largely made up of kids. He also has some fans that are teenagers, adults that are both male and female. But for the most part, his fanbase is made up of kids.

And it actually pains me having to watch a grown man stand in a group of kids (with a few teens or adults there, but 90 percent kids) and declare them his "army" and all that. It's horrible.

We need him as a heel because that is the only way we can get these kids to stop loving him.
He has the mic skills to be a heel.
It's easy to pull off.
And it would give them a new heel to boo and hate, and he could be the top heel.

But something needs to be done to get these kids to stop liking him.
It's awful.

Nah, dude... Keep Cena face and turn Batista heel (Thus getting the majority of Batista's fans on Cena's side). Consolidate all the kids cheers so that the rest of the roster can afford to be a bit more 'for the grown ups'.

Also, before taking too much of an exception to "Cena's Army" consider the target age of Hulkamania.

yes I want Cena heel too but Airfixx brought up a good point about Batista, if we are too see Batista v Cena at WM it would have to be with Batista as teh heel walking into the match and both of them can't be heels.

When I saw Cena kick Jericho's ass, I instantly thought “heel”

Turning Cena heel would be a hard feat, i'm sure it'll take sometime for him to completely go heel. Just like when Y2J went heel, he was still cheered by people for like a month. Now imagine Cena's fanbase. It would take forever to get the majority of people to boo him.

Edit-If Tista and Cena had a match at XXV, I can't picture Cena walking in Texas as the heel.

In theory this works well, right?
I mean, take all Batista's fans (mostly teens and adults) and have them cheer fo rhi sopponent after he turns heel.

However, you are forgetting that many of the adult crowd that Batista has, would just continue to cheer for him as he beat down Cena and turned heel, and we would be stuck where we were in 2007, with Cena being a face but being booed.

Right now, it's not too bad, because there aren't that many people booing Cena. It's maybe 5% of the crowd. However, the part that cheers him loudly is little kids, while any older fans he has aren't nearly s loud.
I woul djust love him to turn heel, and the kids will hate him for turning heel, and the older crowd will have no problem booing either..

But like i said, I like your idea of turning Big Dave heel, but I doubt it will work.

Don't kid yourself... As good as he is as a face, Cena'll probably pull off a damn good heel and remind the haters exactly why the were into him in the earlier part of his career. The same peeps that boo him as a face would probably cheer him as a heel.

That 5% is just how wrestling is these days...

I said the following in another thread:

"I think it's partially a symptom of a 'smarter'/synical era of wrestling fans... The days of the entire audience popping for a babyface may never return. I think the only chance you've got of getting the entire audience in unison is with a kick-ass tweener."

As for Batista's fanbass... I doubt VERY much that they're majority teens and adults.

^Well, every superstar has fans that are kdis. Look at Rey Mysterio, lol. HHH has plenty of kid fans as well, as do almost every wrestler.
But, Batista has more older fans than Cena, and all I'm saying is that Batista's fan base would just cheer him on if he turned heel, because he would be acting more "badass" and how they like, so they would cheer him even if he was doing heelish things.

However, you bring up a good point, which is what I was thinkin gof earlier.
You're right, if Cena turned, alot of people would like him, and although they would most likely still boo him during the show (just like most people oo heels during the show), it would actually get him more fans, because it would be more entertaining. It woudl also make it easier for him to turn face eventually again, because then he would be fresh and new, and people all ages would like him.

But something has to change, because really, I can't stand his army of kids, lol.

The crux of your point is just the "WWE is for kids" issue again...

You're effectively saying, "I'm not a fan of Cena's character"(*)... So be it.

(...*and proceeding to simply chase the rest of the factors touched upon just to support the case for what you want to see.)

I spent the majority of the late 80's/early 90's hating the sight and sound of Hogan. Just the way it is.

^Like I said, I actually like Cena, and I don't even have a problem with his character. I don' tthink his character even tries to appeal to kids really. He just does his things, and it turns into kids loving him. Like you said htough, so be it, but I really think it could be something good to turn him heel.
Jusst basically an idea that I know many people have thought of, and I think it would really help him become fresher again.

Although I do admit though that your idea of turning Batista heelw ould be (for me anyways) a preferrable option.
Because if it works, then Cena almost doubles his fanbase, along with some older crowd too, but thats if it works.

I have a feelign that's what they will end updoing anyways though.

This is the way I see things in regards to John Cena.

Cena is the biggest star in the company at the moment, bar none. He has immense charisma and popularity especially amongst the kids.

Here's the problem though, in order for a character to stay relevant it must evolve. Cena did so very well in going from the "Doctor of Thuganomics" to his current character.

However, John Cena has been playing the same character now for I think at least the last 3 years. The only reason there has been no serious repercussions for this is because the kids enjoy him so much. There is a problem with this course of action though. Kids are very fickle and you can become passe practically overnight. Take the kids away from Cena's popularity and what do you have? Very little.

It is in the WWE's best interests to do something, dear God anything to Cena's character in order to freshen him up and to preserve his future popularity.

Just my $0.02 though.

Not to doubt that Cena would make a great heel, he would, but there just isnt enough face main event power on RAW right now. Cena's return is a huge boost to a weak portion of the WWE roster if you ask me.

Just to provide some concrete evidence of my accusations in refute of any flamers...here are the current ME status RAW roster members:

Rey Mysterio
Shawn Michaels
Batista

So it only seems reasonable to me to allow Cena to stay a Face and be the hero of RAW for the time being.

^Ah, but turning Cena heel would allow them to put another guy (Can you say CM Punk?) into the main event scene again, into the extra face spot.

^^^The same applies to any of the ME faces.

When you consider on the heel side of things you have:

Orton
Y2J
(+ Kane & JBL at a stretch)

I don't see the disparity you refer to?

I actually like Cena, and I don't even have a problem with his character. I don' tthink his character even tries to appeal to kids really. He just does his things, and it turns into kids loving him.

The fact is that Cena's character is WHY he says stuff about his army (i.e. The Kids*)... Change his character so he DOESN'T say stuff like that the appeal isn't necessarily gonna remain. (*Which I thought was your main, and original, gripe?)

Well, here is my take.

Last night, I think we saw the death of kiss ass Cena. The beginning of that segment last night was one of the single most pathetic displays I have ever witnessed. "Jericho, *chokes up*, we are good enough!!!" Give me a damn break.

I actually threw my Chain Gang Spinner pendent out the window.

Then...when all hope is lost...and just as I am about to place an order for the new Rey Mysterio mask on wweshop.com, a switch flips in Cena. We see Mr. Fair Play, Mr. Respect, Mr Loyalty, beat a defenseless man to within and inch of his life.

Its almost as if Cena realized that hanging out with 10 year olds and kissing ass wasn't going to cut it anymore. He hit rock bottom with his ass kissing ways. It was time to be ruthless.

I think from here on out, Cena will realize that kicking the shit out of people actually makes him feel good. Once a chain gang soldier tastes blood its all over.

I disagree. The people of America need someone to look up to i grew up watching Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart and Sting . There is plenty of heels like Cain, Chris Jericho and Mr. Kennedy to just name a few. I like Cena as a baby face and with todays society we all can use a good role model, exspecially todays kids.
