Yeah I was guilty of it myself too but I just remember getting the vibes from one interview he did awhile back that it made him uncomfortable but he didn't wanna be "that guy" yelling at his fans who didn't mean any harm. But it's still really common, this is the first I remember him outright asking people to stop. It's even only being brought up bc CVV asked him about it jokingly in an interview bc to most people it's just a meme
