WWE Forums Writers Group

[Big Hoss Rambler]

It'd be cool to have our own writers group. They will write full detailed reviews on each episode of RAW, Smackdown, PPV etc. It will not be C+P reviews, their own reviews only. We could have a blog page for only writers to post. It'd be our own review from this site and not from other people's blog sties.

Yes, the writers group could make their official thread and post it but I think it'd better to post it as a blog page. Whichever you think is fine, Crayo.

I haven't seen other wrestling forums have their own review blog page so it is unique thing to do.

This was what his friend sent him and he wanted it rewording. Apparently she's hot, which makes up for the useless grammar.

This is my booker prize award winning re-write.

It'd probably be a neat idea to link this into Wordpress. Wordpress would handle all of the blog formatting and what-not, and mybb would control all of the user interactivity.

A usergroup could be set up, which wordpress would then interact with and let users of that group post new blog entries.
Then another usergroup could be made, editors or something, which get sent all of the recent posts for review.

I'm not too familiar with wordpress though, so I'd probably need to play around with it a little before anything productive comes out.

You can bridge wordpress into MyBB yeah but I'd prefer not to adopt a sub-domain. Sub-domains have zero traffic and would have to start again from scratch, and I'd want to use these reviews as a traffic source, hence why I want to keep it on the same domain. If that's still possible adopting wordpress it's something I suppose we could look into.

I was thinking more like IPB's blog page. Just a page where people can submit their blogs and people can comment on it. Though that's probably quite a hard plugin to make from scratch in MyBB. Don't think any site has one.

Seems pretty pointless to re-invent the wheel. As far as I know, Wordpress is pretty open to extending it's functionality. A plugin could be added into wordpress that would create a thread on the forum whenever a new blog post is made, then all replies to that thread would show up as comments in the blog.

Depends on whether you mean e-mail newsletters or just PM newsletters. E-mail formatting tends to be a hassle when you plan on including HTML, but I think there are a few third-party extensions that I might be able to borrow some ideas from.

A newsletter plugin seems pretty nice and generic to make; something that will let users opt-in or out of the newsletter, let editors fill-in future newsletters so they can be finished earlier and will be sent when they're supposed to be sent and newsletter templates that can be used for different types of newsletters.

The last part about templates could be used to let users subscribe to different types of newsletters, things like Site news, Wrestling news, Development news, etc. These would all have a different HTML layout.

I know Wordpress didn't HAVE to be on a sub-domain, but most are because it differs completely from the site theme. The main reason I'd want a blog MyBB plugin was so the theme/style would stay the same.

wweforums.net/blog though seems pretty decent.

Prolly be easier and quicker to just style a wordpress theme, rather than trying to create a whole new blog system into MyBB.
