How? Rock was a better heel, way more successful in hollywood, more handsome, better seller. Austin was just more badass.

Some could say Rock was a better heel because he wasn't good enough as a face to not get hated, the crowd got bored of Rock and chose to cheer Hogan. Austin tried to turn heel, he couldn't, he wasn't a bad heel at all, he was amazing. They just couldn't boo him because he's goat. You think the GOAT should be decided on who's more handsome? Austin in his prime was a much better ring worker than Rock too. After a broken neck it's only natural for your ring work to decline.

Hollywood has nothing to do with their wrestling careers.

Austin's ring work was still better than Rocks even with his neck injury, especially in 2001 it was probably better than Rock ever was.

This is a little off base. Rock was a great heel and was turned face by the crowd in around '98, and then turned heel again in the double switch when he joined up with Vince after they turned on Mankind. And losing the fans against Hogan, you say this like it's some indictment of Rock. Rock is a top 5 fan favorite of all time, he just happened to run into arguably #1 or top 2 at worst in Hogan.
