Before they randomly tossed in the Kofi-Sheamus match @ Extreme Rules last night, Yes. It did look like that was going to happen.

To be fair, I wouldn't mind them rotating the WHC for a few years. Lets face it, it's not the top Title in the fans eyes, but still has recognition as somewhat important due to it being the top B-show title and I believe it could maintain that prestige being under the top title. The main thing though, would be that the IC/US Title would get the rub as being THE prize on SD. In a year or two, swap the IC and WWE/WH Title and then the IC/US Titles have a whole new level of prestige from being treated as important for a period. Obviously the WWE/WHCs would be valued for being the top titles, and I believe boosting the mid-card titles' profile would help the roster and even the entire shows have some actual intrigue throughout again.

^That's bullshit and you know it.

All it says is that you put all the mid-card talent on one show and all the main event talent on the other and you display that those guys DEFINITELY aren't good enough to be shown as potential WWE/WH Champion material.

Absolutely ludicrous.

Yes, having Smackdown treat the IC/US Title as the brand's top title and having their Main eventers contend for those belts would be fuckin' crazy. If Orton or Cena talked about said title as being his top goal on the show would totally ruin their value to the company, it wouldn't boost the belts at all, they'd just turn into mid-carders overnight. I'm wrong. >_>

No, you're completely correct. That's not a good idea whatsoever, it would be a fabulous idea for Superstars but not Smackdown which is supposed to be perceived as a big deal.

The midcard titles won't ever be perceived as a big deal on their own. What better way to make them seem important than have the Main eventers fight over them for a year straight and have an IC or US Title match Main Event a PPV or two? If there's one of the big two on Raw for instance. If Cena wins the US Title in it's current state, his stock drops. If that's the biggest title on the show, he won't look bad and the title gets an importance boost. Then when the time comes a year or two down the line, when Kofi/Evan/Whoever wins it after all these big names have had it and have moved back into the redrafted WWE Title picture, it actually means something and makes them look good.

Not to mention it'd give much needed credibility to the draft since they tease one brand having both titles EVERY YEAR and never follow through...

Or they could just scrap both the IC/US titles altogether since it's just tarnishing their legacies and neither is actually worth winning at this point.

Actually, Cena winning the US title wouldn't drop his stock, it would raise the belt's stock. It's asinine thinking like that (the stock of a superstar drops for putting a mid-card belt on him) that makes the titles worthless. It wouldn't hurt to have a main-eventer who just lost the belt or his shot at the belt, compete for the US/IC title while someone else gets a shot.

To give one of those belts the nod as a main-event title match over the WWE Championship is to give the WWE Championship 0 meaning. It might have been cool for WCW to use the US Title in the main event over the WCW Championship because Goldberg held the strap and was the hottest thing going. The problem is, nobody of note has held the belts in a long time. Sheamus doesn't count because the E completely abused any worth he had before throwing the US Title on him.

It would be stupid to put the lower-card titles on one show and both of the major titles on another... absolutely stupid.

Problem is the SD World Title means so little that it wouldn't really matter anyway if it took a backseat. The top Raw title is the main event on 9/10 PPV so if the US/IC Titles were both on Raw it would ME said PPVs and gain a bump in importance.

On your first point you're wrong. Guess why that scenario's never happened before with the titles set how they are? If Cena just goes off and wins the US Title belt, while say Miz and John Morrison go for the WWE Title belt and close the show, guess who looks like a mid-carder who's not important?

You're seeming to not understand (Among other things) the "Desperate times means desperate measures" approach this is. A good wrestler, promo, angle, feud, or reign won't make their titles/mid-card mean something, they need something big and long-term to improve things with them or as I said...just get rid of them.

^Go read up on your wrestling history.

I never said Cena's reign had to be a 1 or 2 month thing, it could be prolonged. And Cena doesn't look like a midcarder because he holds the US belt and fights a match before Miz and Morrison main eventing for the WWE Championship.

Back in the day, the US and IC titles indicated you were the true #1 contender to the main straps, and they'd have guys challenging for that belt regularly to keep the guy away from the main event scene for a couple of months while he ran roughshot through the midcard and the main event contenders while he earned his shot against a heel champion who was snaking away from him, or a bunch of guys claiming they were cheated by a heel holding the belt trying to keep him away from the face champion.

The strategy was perfect too because you'd have random tournaments for the US/IC belt which would culminate at a PPV where one of the guys would win it.

It's THAT philosophy which brings those titles back to prominence. Have them mean something more than just getting a belt to keep a guy in a mid-card feud and away from the main event scene. And for Christ's sake, ROTATE THE TALENT IN THE MAIN EVENT SCENE!

The WHC will be seen as less than the WWE title as long as the WWE wants it to be. Your idea, HTK, is just overly convoluted and it is an awful idea for that reason. They can fix the title being less prestigious by seemingly booking the fucking thing in the main event at some PPVs, like you said. Even when Cena had it, it took a backseat. Granted, after that and after Undertaker's reigns, look who's held it. Excellent workers, yes, but no one Undertaker, Cena, Triple H status. I don't even think the WWE would book Randy Orton over everyone else, unless his opponent was one of the aforementioned.
