Cole/JR: Personal taste I guess....

"It's too bad Bobby Heenan isn't feeling well. I would love to have him back behind the announcer's table."

Tragically:

wiki: "In December 2007, Heenan had reconstructive surgery on his jaw, after the first surgery was unsuccessful. Heenan was placed in a medically induced coma and was slowly brought out.[18] In the second half of January 2008, Heenan had come out of his medically induced coma. Though not yet able to speak he was communicating with his eyes. He has more surgeries to come, but they are plastic surgeries to reconstruct facial features. The reconstructing of his jaw is complete. In October 2008 it was reported that Heenan was then able to speak a few sentences before he gets tired. In February 2009 it was reported... Heenan is still relearning how to speak clearly..."

I've seen seen a vid of a Q&A him and Cornette did recently and his speech has improved a great deal, but his days of working the mic on TV are over. : (

HUGE loss to the business.

Heenan is my fave ever wrestling personality.

I get what your saying but to be fair that's more a cricicism of the writers than anything.... When the Noble beatdowns were happening he prob didn't know he'd end up working with him the following week and that he should be selling it rather than shutting up and "letting the action do the talking".

As for where I get my B.S. from? ....Mother nature (a.k.a. nearly 20 years of too much marijuana smokin') at a guess.

I get what you're saying, but this wasn't the only incident (sp). It's like it's part of King's character to stand up to people on and off. Wasn't there something with him and Kendrick? It's been going on for a while. He does his somber voice at times when stuff is happening, but then other times he stands up for people. Then he brings in the "... somebody needs to stop this..." Get your ass up and do something then. Either have him do it or not, not flip-flop back and forth.

^^^^LOL.... With the right colour guy he'd be ok, but I remember when him and Alfred Hayes used to commentate together... Train-wreck vibez... Especially when you got Hayes talking about some wrestler with a wacky late-80's gimmick!!! lol

yeah but that sorta stuff worked in the 80's. It sounds dumb now, but back then it was great. He was good. The between calling the match chatter will change, the skill will be fine.

Good, bring back JR, Cole's been awful on RAW I can't stand his "vintage" comments any longer

This is what the announcers should be when JR gets back:

RAW: JR/King

Smackdown!: Cole/Striker

ECW: Grisham/Josh

I was watching at the time... It sounded dumb to me at the time too (prob more to do with Hayes and the Brit factor than Mooney), but still entertaining none-the-less.

I was only reminded of Hayes recently thanks to the 'Best Of SNME' DVD.

So, has ANYONE got ANY doubt left after Survivor Series that Striker is hands down the best booth-man out there? ...Hell, he could do Raw on his own and still out perform the nightmare that is King & Cole.

IMO...

Striker
JR
Josh
Grish
King
Cole

Opinon of Byron Saxton (?) pending... His voice sounds odd to me so far... Seems competent otherwise.

Great One

Striker is really good, but he's not as amazing as people make him out to be. He only sounds so great because the other commentators all fucking suck so he seems like a God compared to them. Heyman, JBL, old JR, old Taz, etc. would all be better in some aspects or overall.

Eh, I personally like him a lot. He's bring a unique personality to the table and is very close to bordering on a heel announcer. His knowledge of wrestling is also unparalleled by anyone else on the announce team, including JR. I'm looking forward to seeing if the two get paired upon JR's return.
