I wouldn't use mainstream as a means to judge a monster...
...and Taker not going mainstream, I'm sure, is more a reflection of him choosing not to, not that he couldn't. Besides, when you say "Undertaker" people associate w/ him... and it's not like he isn't recognizable. The streak is the most impressive statistic in kayfabe, and even out of kayfabe... more so than the big feud with Hogan. In fact, most people who think back on Hogan vs. Andre just think of the slam (yes, big deal, but not the whole point of that feud... it was also the first time Andre actually hit the mat *in WWF* by an opponent but people don't talk that up as much either).
