I still only have a Wii from last generation and with the newer generation of kids, they won't possibly be able to get both consoles and for kids just coming into the gaming world, it's one or the other. That's quite the minority though considering the Wii U came out 8 years after the other consoles so most would already have the other consoles.
Indeed, well... Nintendo has always been great for kids but now they want to acquire the right third-party devs like Activision to lure in more of the people who might like Mario but also want to play something like COD and Assassins Creed - two franchises now on the Wii U. Nintendo will always be looking at the sort-of Nintendorks (like myself) who have grown up with Mario and will always love the franchises they make but now look for the "hardcore" gamers who weren't totally on board with the Wii.I can understand why people would get a Wii U. Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Sonic, ect.
But that was more of my childhood rather than now. WHICH is why I choose not to purchase it. It just seems like a console for children. Sony and Microsoft don't even consider it competition so obviously the target demographic are different between the two.
