Post-Rumble News & Notes

2019 Royal Rumble Winners

With the conclusion of the 2019 WWE Royal Rumble pay per view event we now have two more names to add to the history book, those being Becky Lynch (Women’s) and Seth Rollins (Men’s) with the respective victories. Both Lynch and Rollins have cashed their respective tickets for the showcase of the immortal’s aka WrestleMania 35. While it remains to be seen which championships the Rumble winners will challenge for at the event, it can be stated that they will have great matches.

A New Universal Champion & A New Heyman Guy?

At the Royal Rumble pay per view event, fan favorite Finn Balor put it all on the line to reclaim the gold he never lost in the first place. That being the WWE Universal Championship which was then around the waist of reigning champion Brock Lesnar©. Shockingly at the conclusion of the encounter not only did we have a new WWE Universal Champion, but we also apparently had a new Paul Heyman Guy in the form of Finn Balor. As the man behind the “Beast Incarnate” aka Paul Heyman turned his back on his long-time client and friend in favor of backing Balor instead. After the match Balor proceeded to absolutely destroy the former champion aka Lesnar, effectively writing him out of future storylines.

The” Beast Incarnate” Has Left WWE

If there was any lingering doubt on the current standing of the now former WWE Universal Champion aka Brock Lesnar following the Royal Rumble event. It was put to bed as WWE Chairman Shane McMahon has confirmed that Lesnar is done with the company. And the post-match assault at the hands of the man who beat him for the gold aka Finn Balor was done to install some much-needed momentum for the latter.

205 Live is No More

Finally, the Cruiserweight centric program WWE’s 205 Live show has been cancelled effective immediately, The WWE Cruiserweight Championship will be contended for on both MNR and FNS going forward. Not only that but the shows roster has been split between the two previously mentioned shows.

Monday Night RAW – 28.1.19

Opening Video + Born for Greatness by Papa Roach
  • The post-Rumble episode of Monday Night RAW began with Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. All making their way down to the ring and state their case to be the next in line for a shot at the WWE Universal Championship, seeing as the former champion wasn’t with the company anymore.
  • Commercial
  • They were soon joined in the ring by WWE Hall of Famer and MNR GM Kurt Angle. Who said that he had heard each of their reasoning and had made a decision regarding the N1C status. That being that all of them would get their chance at the WWE Universal Championship. Because they would all have the chance to qualify for the Universal Championship elimination chamber at the titular event.
  • Commercial
  • Lucha House Party defeated Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel & Elias – Kalisto pinned Axel with Salida Del Sol.
  • After the match the trio of Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel and Elias argued with each other.
  • Backstage
  • Intercontinental Champion Bobby Lashley© and Lio Rush confronted the man that eliminated him from the Rumble. In the form of Zack Ryder and told him that if he new what was good for him. He would meet Lashley in the ring in the main event for the title and learn to not get in his way. Ryder said he looked forward to getting the better of Lashley twice in a row, then walked off.
  • Back to the Ring
  • RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey© cut an in-ring promo in which she put over Sasha Banks as a worthy opponent. Then followed this up by delivering a warning to the winner of the N1C match. They had better bring it all at Elimination Chamber because they would need to.
  • Commercial
  • The duo of Akam and Rezar aka the Authors of Pain stormed to the ring. Once inside the squared circle they demanded the Revival come out and answer for costing them the RAW Tag Team Championship. Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson walked out taking their time and then entered the ring. The two tag teams went back and forth trading verbal barbs at each other. Which eventually escalated to trading shots and brawling which led to the next match.
  • Authors of Pain VS The Revival ended in a No Contest.
  • As soon as the opening bell rung this match was thrown out as all four men continued to brawl amongst themselves. Until refs and security descended on the scene to separate the two tag teams.
  • Commercial
  • Dean Ambrose beat Sami Zayn with Dirty Deeds to qualify for the Universal Championship Elimination Chamber.
  • The duo of Bobby Roode and Chad Gable, Glorious & Gable aka the RAW Tag Team Champions. Came out to the ring to cut a promo about their greatness. Which led to Breezango to come out and brawl with them.
  • Breezango beat Glorious & Gable in a Non-Title match. Fandango pinned Chad Gable with a Diving Leg Drop.
  • Commercial
  • Bobby Lashley with Lio Rush© defeated Zack Ryder with a distraction at ringside from Rush. To retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
  • WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor and Paul Heyman closed the show with an in-ring promo. About their brilliance on their alliance, and their thoughts about the Elimination Chamber match. Eventually they were interrupted by the winner of the Men’s rumble Seth Rollins. But before he could even get to the ring he was blindsided by Braun Strowman who laid him out with a Running Powerslam on the ramp.
  • End Show
