Backstage SD GM Paige announced an eight man tag team match between the New Day & WWE USC Keith Lee against Daniel Bryan, Erick Rowan, Samoa Joe & a partner of their choosing.
New Day & WWE USC Keith Lee V Daniel Bryan & Erick Rowan & Samoa Joe & Andrade w Zelina Vega WWE Champion Kofi Kingston got the win for his team after he pinned Rowan with the S.O.S. Winners: New Day & Keith Lee PM: Bryan brawled with Kingston, Joe with Lee, and the other New Day members brawled with the Grizzled Young Veterans & Jurassic Express.
Two matches took place on the Money in the Bank Kickoff Show, the first one was a three way tag team match for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship. It featured the New Day(c) the Grizzled Young Veterans and Jurassic Express. In the closing stages of the match, Xavier Woods & Big E isolated James Drake and hit the Midnight Hour for the pin.
In the second and final match of the kickoff show a six way open challenge contested under elimination rules for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. It featured Buddy Murphy(c), Sammy Guevara & Ricochet from MNR and the trio of Mustafa Ali, Lio Rush and Jordan Devlin from FNS. The first elimination saw Ali pin Rush with an Inverted 450 Splash then Guevara eliminated Ali with a Springboard Cutter. Ricochet got rid of Guevara with a 630 Splash and Murphy did the same to Ricochet with Murphy’s Law. Suddenly Finn Balor came running out of nowhere and laid Murphy out with a 1916 and Devlin took advantage and pinned him.

The opening match of the 2019 WWE Money in the Bank pay per view event was the women’s MITB Ladder Match. It featured Awesome Kong, Blair Davenport, Kay Lee Ray and Piper Niven from MNR and the quartet of Bayley, Sasha Banks, Rhea Ripley and Dr Britt Baker DMD from FNS.
As can be expected Awesome Kong played the role of the resident monster of the match, while the Boss & Hug Co and Scottish Fire used the numbers game to their advantage. In the end though it would be Rhea Ripley who climbed up a ladder to unhook the briefcase.
Next was a Championship versus Career Light’s Out match where the WWE Intercontinental Championship was up for grabs. The defending champion Dean Ambrose faced off with Chad Gable for the third time in as many weeks. Despite Ambrose being at home in this brutal match type it would be Gable who picked up the win. He did this by sending his opponent crashing through several set up steel chairs with a Gable Slam for the win.
In the next match the WWE United States Championship was on the line between “Limitless” Keith Lee(c) and the former champion the “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe. It lasted fifteen minutes and the ending came about as Lee hit a Pounce and then followed it up with the Spirit Bomb for the win.
After that the WWE RAW Women’s Championship match between Becky Lynch(c) and Alexa Bliss took place. It concluded with the challenger aka Bliss attempting her Twisted Bliss finisher only for Lynch to get her knees up. From here Lynch returned to her feet and then dragged Bliss up and hit the Big Time Bex (Manhandle Slam) for the pin.
The fifth match of the night was the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship between the “Empress” Asuka(c) and the “Virtuoso” Deonna Purrazzo. The former would continue her reign after she trapped the latter in the Asuka Lock and Purrazzo had no choice but to tap out.
Next a WrestleMania 35 rematch took place as Kofi Kingston faced Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship, only this time the roles of champion and challenger reversed. The defending champion aka Kingston had his New Day stablemates and current WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions Big E & Xavier Woods in his corner. While the challenger had his enforcer Erick Rowan in his corner. Just like their previous encounter this one was one hell of a match, in the end Kingston retained after hitting back to back Trouble in Paradises.
The penultimate saw Seth Rollins(c) attempt to defend his WWE Universal Championship against Chris Jericho. The defending champion would successfully fight out of not one but two attempts of Jericho trying to lock in the Walls of Jericho. From here Rollins would have to change his approach to the match as the damage was done to his legs. He laid Jericho out with a clothesline and then dragged him to one of the corners and climbed up to the top rope, then hit a Phoenix Splash for the win.
Finally the main event of the night was the men’s MITB Ladder match which featured Adam Page, Adam Cole, MJF and Walter from MNR and Finn Balor, Darby Allin, PAC and Kevin Owens from FNS. The first highlight of the match came when Allin laid Walter out on the announce table with help from Page and Owens, then climbed up a ladder and hit a huge Coffin Drop on him. Then everyone followed this up by piling ladders on top of both of them effectively taking them out of the match going forward. The conclusion of the match saw both Balor and Cole on the same ladder and this saw JD and the rest of the UE come out and try to help their respective person. However Owens, Page and PAC would brawl with JD, and the UE which allowed Balor to climb up a ladder and unhook the briefcase.
