Smackdown Women's Championship
Alexa Bliss(c) VS Nikki Bella
On the tenth of February 2017 episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Nikki Bella faced off with the reigning WWE Smackdown Women's Champion Alexa Bliss(c). In a non-title Championship Eliminator encounter, meaning that if Bella lost she wouldn't be able to challenge for the title again while Bliss is champion.

However she would be victorious and as a result earned herself a future title shot at a time of her choosing. After the match, Bella got a microphone and told Bliss she would see her at No Way Out.


Intercontinental Championship
The Miz with Maryse(c) VS Apollo Crews
During the 2017 Royal Rumble match, Apollo Crews got the better of the current WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz(c). And managed to send him packing from the match, in the eyes of FNS General Manager Shane McMahon.

This was good enough for Crews to get a future short at the IC Championship an as a result made it official for No Way Out.​

The final championship match announced for the No Way Out ppv event was a regular men's division tag team match. For the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship between the champions Chad Gable & Jason Jordan aka American Alpha(c).
And the challengers the duo of Fandango and Tyler Breeze aka Breezango who defeated the champions in seperate singles matches.

Winner Challenges for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 33
Bryan Danielson(c) VS Dean Ambrose VS Dolph Ziggler
Friday Night Smackdown General Manager Shane McMahon took to the ring on an episode of his show and asked that Bryan Danielson, Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler come and join him. Which the trio of men did and then McMahon went onto say that they had been impressing him with their work both in and out of the ring so he wanted to reward them.

So he proceeded to announce a triple threat match between the three for No Way Out where the winner would earn a shot at the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 33.​

Another Number One Contender match was added to the No Way Out ppv card, this time around it would be a women's fatal four way match. Featuring the field of competition consisting of the quartet of Becky Lynch, Carmella, Natalya Neidhart and Tamina Snuka.


End of the Hype?
Mojo Rawley VS Zack Ryder
The final match announced for the No Way Out ppv event came about as a direct result of a tag team coming to its end. That being the pair of Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder aka the Hype Bro's, which came about after Rawley got jealous of Ryder's positive response from the WWE Universe. This culminated with Rawley turning his back on Ryder and beat him down.​

WWE NO WAY OUT 2017
The WWE No Way Out 2017 pay per view went live with a singles match between two former tag team partners in the forms of Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder. In the climax of the match the latter aka Ryder would manage to set his opponent up for and hit the Rough Ryder for the win.

Next the quartet of Becky Lynch, Carmella, Natalya Neidhart and Tamina Snuka squared off in a fatal four way match which had WrestleMania ramifications attched to it. Snuka knocked Lynch down with a Samoan Drop and then dragged her to one of the corners. From here she aka Snuka climbed up to the top rope and attempted to hit a Samoan Splash but Lynch got her knees up. Lynch would manage to shift her position and ended up pinning Snuka for the deciding fall.

In the third match, the trio of Bryan Danielson, Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler faced off in a Number One Contender triple threat match. Where the victor of it would earn a shot at the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 33. It concluded with Ziggler hitting Ambrose with a Superkick only for him to be hit in turn with a Busaiku Knee from Danielson which led to the pin.

After that Chad Gable and Jason Jordan aka American Alpha(c) attempted to defend the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship against Breezango. Despite a good showing from the defending champions they would fail in this attempt. As Tyler Breeze tagged in Fandango who climbed up to the top rope while Breeze hit the Beauty Shot on Jordan, then Dango hit a Diving Leg Drop while Breeze knocked Gable off the apron.

Then The Miz(c) successfully retained the WWE Intercontinental Championship against the fan favourite Apollo Crews with the Skull Crushing Finale.

Next the penultimate match of the event was a one on one women's division match for the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship. Between the reigning champion, Alexa Bliss(c) and the Number One Contender to the gold in the form of Nikki Bella. The former aka Bliss would end up getting the deciding fall by way of pinfall after launching herself off the top rope with Twisted Bliss.

Finally the night closed out with a WWE Championship match between the "Phenomenal" AJ Styles(c) and the "Leader of the C-Nation" John Cena. As can be expected this main event was one hell of a match given the in ring capabilities of both champion and challenger. Styles would get the win by trapping his opponent in the Phenomenal Lock aka the Calf Crusher and Cena submitted to the hold.

After the match the lights went out in the arena and when they came back on Chris Jericho was in the ring and had the WWE Championship in his grasp then smashed it into Styles head.

Road to Spring Stampede 2017

Universal Championship - Jericho is Banned

Monday Night RAW General Manager Mick Foley was apoplectic with the actions of the tag team known as the Y2KO. For their beyond obvious actions at the WWE Royal Rumble 2017 pay per view event, in regards to the conclusions of both the Universal Championship and Rumble matches.

He stormed to the ring and gave Seth Rollins another shot at the gold at Spring Stampede. But with one key added stipulation being that if Jericho interferes in the match, Owens would be stripped of the title and Jericho would be stripped of his WrestleMania Opportunity.

Chris Jericho(h) VS Sami Zayn
Wanting to make his stance on thier actions at the Rumble abundently clear, MNR GM Mick Foley followed up the announcement of the main event for Spring Stampede. He confirmed a second but equally huge match for the event between Chris Jericho and Sami Zayn.

For Jericho's WrestleMania Opportunity meaning Y2J would have to face the main he eliminated to win the Rumble match. Like the main even before it, Foley added that if Owens interfered, he would lose the title and Jericho would lose his WM Opportunity.

RAW Women's Championship

The current reigning and defending WWE RAW Women's Champion Charlotte Flair(c) was fresh off retaining the gold at the Royal Rumble ppv.
However she wouldn't have to wait too long to find out who she would defend it against next. As it was revealed that it would be Bayley who defeated both Paige and Nia Jax in a triple threat number one contender match on an episode of Monday Night RAW.

Roman Reigns(c) VS Finn Balor
On an episode of Monday Night RAW the 100% healthy and recently returned Finn Balor created some huge momentum for himself. When he competed in a non-title match with the current WWE United States Champion Roman Reigns(c).

Not only that but the former aka Balor would end up being crowned the victor of the match and Reigns rewarded him with a title shot. Balor thanked him and offered for the match to take place at Spring Stampede and the champion agreed.

RAW Tag Team Championship
The Bar(c) VS Golden Truth VS Good Brothers
Monday Night RAW General Manager Mick Foley announced a triple threat match for the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship. Which would take place at the Spring Stampede pay per view event and consist of Cesaro & Sheamus aka The Bar(c) and the two sets of challengers.

The Golden Truth and the Good Brothers. It came about after a Number One Contender match between the two teams ended in a double pin.

Monday Nigh RAW is JOE

The second to last match added to Spring Stampede 2017 was a non-title encounter however it was also a debut match for one half of it's participants. In the form of the recently called up "Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe. But who would be his first main roster opponent? Well he was in for a long night as it was revealed he would face the "World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry.

Finally a women's division tag team match was added to the card for Spring Stampede between two lots of singles feuds. First a feud between the duo of Emma and Nia Jax and the other feud consisting of Paige and a recently turned heel Sasha Banks. Monday Night RAW GM Mick Foley proceeded to make the tag team match as a way to end both feuds.

WWE SPRING STAMPEDE 2017
The event kicked off with a women’s division tag team match which pitted the duo of Emma and Paige. Against the pair of Nia Jax and Sasha Banks. Banks trapped Emma in the Banks Statement which resulted in the submission victory.

Next the debuting “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe went to war. With the multi-time World Heavyweight Champion, the “World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry. In the end, Joe was victorious by way of choking his opponent out with the Coquina Clutch.

In the third match the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship was ironically on the line in a triple threat match. As Cesaro & Sheamus aka The Bar© defended against both Goldust & R-Truth the Golden Truth. And the tag team of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows aka the Good Brothers. It culminated in a set of new champions being crowned. By way of Anderson and Gallows hit the Magic Killer on Cesaro, with Gallows getting the pin.

After that Roman Reigns© and Finn Balor tore the house down over the WWE United States Championship. Reigns retained by pinfall following a Superman Punch and Spear combination.

Then Bayley got the better of Charlotte Flair© with a new finisher. A Death Valley Driver which was called the Hugger City Driver. To not only win the encounter but become the new WWE RAW Women’s Champion.

The penultimate match saw the winner of the 2017 Royal Rumble match. Chris Jericho attempt to defend his WrestleMania Opportunity against Sami Zayn in a singles match. Zayn proved that he could hang with the best of them in this match. But he would end up trapped in the Walls of Jericho and be forced to submit to the hold.

Finally, Kevin Owens© closed out the event by defeating Seth Rollins yet again. To retain the WWE Universal Championship, despite the fact he didn’t have Jericho in his corner. He got the win with a series of Powerbombs.

Road to WrestleMania 33 – P1 Universal & WWE Championships

The current reigning and defending WWE Universal Champion, the “Prize Fighter” Kevin Owens©. Started 2017 off in good way by retaining the gold against Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble. Thanks to help from his Y2KO tag team partner Chris Jericho, with Owens repaying the favour latter on that night in the main event. By distracting his former friend Sami Zayn which allowed Jericho to get the drop on him and eliminate him to win the match. Then at the conclusion of Friday Night Smackdown exclusive ppv No Way Out. Jericho seemingly set his eyes on AJ Styles© and the WWE Championship for his choice of WrestleMania opponent.

Fast forward to the Monday Night RAW exclusive Spring Stampede event, where both Owens and Jericho retained the Universal Championship and the WrestleMania Opportunity respectively by defeating Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn in separate outings.

On an episode of MNR, GM Mick Foley his FNS counterpart Shane McMahon and the current WWE (AJ Styles) and Universal (Kevin Owens) champions in the ring as well as Chris Jericho. With the latter seemingly picking Styles only to turn around and kick Owens in the balls and put him through the table that had the contract on it. Y2J shocked everyone by signing the contract and holding the Universal Championship high.

Once the implosion of the tag team called Y2KO, setting in stone the match for the WWE Universal Championship at Mania. This left the blue brand scrambling to organize a suitable opponent for the AJ Styles© to defend the WWE Championship against the same event. FNS General Manager Shane McMahon asked for the champion to join him on an episode of the blue brand show.

He floated the idea of an open challenge for Mania, Styles was all for it but stated he didn’t want to know who his opponent would be. Until the night of WrestleMania 33 because he like to think on the fly and see what he would do. ​
