Charlotte Flair began 2017 as the woman who had the WWE RAW Women’s Championship around her waist. She would successfully retain the title in a fatal four way match at the Royal Rumble ppv.

From here her reign would continue until the WWE Spring Stampede ppv. Where she lost the title to the “Boss” Sasha Banks in a one on one encounter. Meanwhile Alexa Bliss started the same year as the WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion. She would lose the title to Becky Lynch at the Royal Rumble then failed to reclaim the title at No Way Out. Spring Stampede saw Lynch would retain the title against Carmella.

Going into WrestleMania 33,Monday Night RAW GM Mick Foley and Friday Night Smackdown counterpart Daniel Bryan came together to make a huge announcement. That both titles would be on the line in a fatal four way match that would feature both champions, the former WWE RWC Charlotte Flair and Bayley.

Smackdown GM Daniel Bryan announced the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Would be on the line in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 33. The field of competition would be made up of the current champion Dean Ambrose(c), the former champion The Miz and Baron Corbin.

WWE RAW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - LADDER
GOOD BROTHERS(C) VS NEW DAY VS THE BAR VS THE REVIVAL
RAW GM Mick Foley announced that the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship would be on the line at WrestleMania 33. It would be a fatal four way match but not a regular match it would be a Ladder Match. Between the current champions the Good Brothers, two members of the New Day, the Bar and the main roster debuting Revival.


WWE SMACKDOWN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - 2 OUT OF 3 FALLS
THE USO’S(C) VS AMERICAN ALPHA
While the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship would hang above the squared circle at the showcase of the immortals. Their blue brand counterparts aka the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship. would be on the line in a two out of three falls match match. Between the reigning champions The Uso’s(c) and the former champions American Alpha.

An co-branded match was announced by MNR GM Mick Foley and FNS GM Daniel Bryan. It would also be a first time ever encounter in a WWE ring. As the “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe from Monday Night RAW. Squared off with the Friday Night Smackdown’s, “Leader of the C-Nation” John Cena.


RANDY ORTON VS SHINSUKE NAKAMURA
Smackdown GM Daniel Bryan announced that the “King of Strong Style” Shinsuke Nakamura would make his main roster debut at WrestleMania. In a single’s match, his opponent would be the “Apex Predator” Randy Orton.


ANDRE THE GIANT MEMORIAL BATTLE ROYAL
The fourth annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal was the second last match. That was added to the WrestleMania 33 card. It was confirmed that talent from MNR, NXT and FNS would take part in the match.


NINTH WONDER MEMORIAL BATTLE ROYAL
The final match announced for the WWE WrestleMania 33 pay per view event. Was the inaugural Ninth Wonder Memorial Battle Royal. Just like the ARMBAR before it talent from MNR, NXT and FNS would take part in it.​

The 2017 WWE Money in the Bank pay per view event was confirmed for the 28th of May 2017. It was announced that the event would take place at the SAP Center in San Jose California. ​

2017 would see a historic new addition to the WWE Money in the Bank PPV. Because not only would the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match take place. But for the first time ever a women’s variant of the match would take place as well. For the line up of the 2017 Men’s match the eight superstars were revealed as. Baron Corbin,

At WrestleMania 33 former best friends and tag team partners, Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens(c). Clashed in a one on one match for the WWE Universal Championship. It was a brutal affair that saw both men belt the shit out of each other. In the end though “Y2J” aka Jericho would end up the victor and become the WWE Universal Champion for the first time. RAW GM Mick Foley announced that the rematch would take place at Money in the Bank. But this time it would be contested in a Steel Cage.​

Finn Balor had quite obviously been on the run of his short WWE career since returning from injury. First he returned and won the 2017 Royal Rumble match. Then followed this up by defeating the then WWE United States Champion Chris Jericho(c) to win the title for the first time.

This all culminated with him facing and defeating the then WWE Champion AJ Styles(c) at WrestleMania 33. To win the WWE Championship for the first time and become the new champion. Both RAW’s GM aka Mick Foley and SD’s GM Daniel Bryan agreed that the rematch would be for both titles.

The “Lunatic” Dean Ambrose(c) aka the current reigning and defending WWE Intercontinental Champion. Failed in his first attempt to unseat the then champion The Miz at the Rumble. He came up short in an Hell in a Cell match for the WWE Championship at No Way Out. At Spring Stampede he put his SD career on the line in another match for the WWE ICC.

This time around Ambrose was able to claim the title, he would go onto WrestleMania 33 and retain it in a triple threat. Going into Money in the Bank he would find his next challenger in the form of a repackaged Neville now going by the name PAC.​

Becky Lynch entered into 2017 with no championships around her waist. That all changed at the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble PPV. She claimed the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship for the second time. Then at WrestleMania 33 she became a double champion.

She was the winner in a fatal four way match which was for the WWE SDWC as well as the WWE RWC. In said match she defeated then WWE RAW Women’s Champion Sasha Banks(c), Bayley and Charlotte Flair. A rematch between two quarters of the four way in the forms of Banks and Lynch(c) for both titles was booked for MITB.

Cedric Alexander claimed the WWE Cruiserweight Championship for the first time in his career at WrestleMania 33. It was announced on WWE.com that the former champion aka TJP would get his rematch at MITB.
