WWE 2010: "A New Vision"
In June 2010, the state of Connecticut woke up to find Richard Blumenthal in the middle of a big time sex scandal. Blumenthal withdrawn from the US Senate race later that day leaving the one and only, Linda McMahon as the leader for the seat in the polls. Vince saw the exciting but grueling career that his wife choose for herself and decided it was time for him to stand behind her like she had done for him for years. So a week after Linda was left standing in the Senate race, Vincent Kennedy McMahon resigned from duties for the WWE.
Many people speculated that Stephanie McMahon-Helmmsley would takeover the company after her brother, Shane McMahon's, exit from the family company earllier in the year but in a surprising move the prodigal son returned to the buisness as Shane McMahon was made the new CEO of the WWE while Stephanie was given the title of Chairwoman of the Board. A new era had begun.
Shane and Stephanie embarked on their own version of the WWE, no longer bound by Vince's thoughts of crushing competitiors, The two decided to embrace it and went to the offices of Panda Energy's owner, Bob Carter, and made an offer to absorb the TNA promotion into the WWE. The Carters walked away with a modest profit as the McMahon's bought enough of TNA to hold the majority share of the company.
They decided that the new NXT television show would be the best way to bring in the lesser known names of the TNA as after the first NXT competition, the NXT show will become a third brand of the WWE. The show will shift to SpikeTV and fill the old Thursday night iMPACT. The better known stars such as Kurt Angle and Sting will be placed on either RAW or Smackdown as the three brands will have a new draft to not only disperse the new talent and also for Smackdown's debut on SyFy. The TNA stars weren't the only new additions as creative was turned loose and was able to bring in free agents from around the wrestling world. Shane and Stephanie wanted the best wrestlers in the world and they went out and got them
