Can someone tell me what all the major award ceremonies are, and what they focus on.

I know there's the grammys, golden globes etc, but i can never remember what's what...

The Big Ones are The Oscars for movies and the Emmys for television. The Golden Globes is for both movies and television and its the number two award for them.
In music I think now the Grammys and the MTV Music Awards are about equal, the Grammy's have more historic value but I think the MTV is bigger viewer wise and has better performances.

This is just the way the Oscars are. The Academy will ALWAYS vote a gay/transgendered/obscure forgotten painter/blueberry/recovering alcoholic/gay, obscure politician role as "best". They suck Penn's dick for some reason. Remember that boring ass forgettable movie "Mystic River"? Yeah, I've forgotten it too. Nobody gives a shit historically about Harvey Milk either. Milk will be forgotten quicker than the Shakespeare in Love fartfest that beat out Saving Private Ryan for best movie back in 1999.

American Music Awards are bigger then the MTV Awards

MTV Awards does not have all music really

the American Music Awards are bigger. They have pretty much all music.

How many of you have actually seen Milk? Sean Penn was actually pretty damn good. At least as deserving of the award as Rourke.
But what kills me is that Penn already won an Oscar from before, Rourke comes away from all of his problems and puts on a phenomenal performance in The Wrestler.

If there was a Comeback Award on the Oscars, Rourke would've won something.

I hate the grammys also lol.
Only when Taylor Swift isn't on your TV screen at the Grammys.

If only Rourke had played a gay wrestler during the holocaust, he would have won easily!

Just because England won all the awards in the american oscars is nothing to complain about. :shifty:

I don't see why people are complaining. I mean, would half of you even be saying this if he didn't play a wrestler? For some reason, I doubt it.

Penn did an amazing job as Harvey Milk. Yes, Rourke did a fantastic job as well but I don't think he should get an award just because it's his "comeback" role. I have a feeling even Rourke knew Penn would win.

As far as I'm concerned the Oscars mean nothing now :nonono:

...And they meant exctly what prior to this?

Is it just me or was anyone else non-plussed by 'The Wrestler'?

I guess in part I read/heard so many similar real life accounts of wrestlers' woes that I've become somewhat 'anesthatised' by them. Plus, it's all a bit tame compared to watching Jake in tatters during 'Behind The Matt'.

Also, that aside, we should have seen footage/reference to 'The Ram's glory days so we had some form of perspective of the highs and lows of the character.

The wrestler is a good show, but when you compare it to a movie like slumdog millionaire, I think it's worlds apart.
