It is more of a reference to the Hebrew Prophet, Malachi if anything, but I wouldn't upset if it was a nod to Children of the Corn

That's possible, but it is spelled the same way as the redhead from Children so I'm gonna run with it.

It is alternate spelling and with Black being a Satanist and it would make sense, but either it is cool none the less.

Yes, he really is. He is a Laveyan Satanist. If I remember right his father was raised in cult and that is where is persona/gimmick is inspired from as well. As well, his tattoos have multiple meanings and all. There is a lot of depth to him that people overlook or don't care for.
