I was lucky enough to attend Wrestlemania 31 and all its glory. I got to be apart of NXT, the Hall of Fame, Wrestlmania istelf, and Monday Night Raw. Below are some of my comments and experiences:
NXT live from San Jose State University
I have watched NXT here and there but have never been a 'huge' fan of it. With that being said, my buddy purchased the four of us tickets to go to the live NXT event during WM week, and it did not disappoint!
There were several matches, and the entire event went on for over three hours. The show started at 10:00pm and ended at 1:00am.
Highlights:
- Hideo Itami hit the GTS for the live audience and the place just went bezerk. The HI DE OH chants were ridiculous. It felt like I was at one of those ECW venues. (based of what I have seen on tv)
- The crowd was very supportive and 'played' their roles for the Superstars.
- The diva's match was absolutely insane, and was arguably the best match of the night. Bayley had a huge pop from the crowd and it was awesome to be apart of the chants. "Bayley's gonna hug you". Alexa and the other divas are super athletic, and they were able to show that off during the NXT event.
- Kalisto is awesome, and super acrobatic. "LUCHA, LUCHA, LUCHA".
- RHYNO. RHYNO. RHYNO. RHYNO. RHYNO. RHYNO. RHYNO. RHYNO. RHYNO. RHYNO.
- HHH made an appearance, and it was great to hear him talk. It was a surprise to the crowd. He mentioned that Vince and Shawn Michaels were both back stage. "NXT, NXT, NXT".
- I have a new favorite tag team. Collin Cassady and Enzo Amore. These guys have everything! Me and my buddies made sure the streets of San Jose knew all their chants as we yelled them at everyone who passed in our drunken disarray.
- Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens had a great in-ring promo. Even though both are injured, they delivered a compelling story. The crowd didn't know who to cheer for as both were awesome.
- Finn Balor and Adrian Neville had an incredible match. Balor has one of the best entrances I have ever seen, and had the whole crowd going along with his music. Neville is a beast, and has an INSANE ring presence.
The whole event felt nothing like a WWE show. It had incredible wrestling and characters that persuaded you into loving or hating them. Every superstar wanted to give everything they had, and the crowd gave everything back. As far as Wrestling goes, this was the best show I have ever been to.
Hall of Fame 2015
This was definitely one of those nostalgia events that you always dream about going to. While it was incredibly fun and awesome to see all the legends, it was also drawn out. It was actually longer than Wrestlemania. The start of the show was promising, introducing Rikishi. The Uso's did a great job introducing their father, and Rikishi gave a great speech. It ended with the three of them dancing on stage.
Larry Zbyszko could talk for hours. It was cool to see him, but difficult to listen to his speech in entirety. There was no direction, and the moral of his speech was that he would not be ANYTHING with Bruno. :fp:
Tatsumi Fujinami was pretty cool. His speech was quick and to the point.
Alundra Blayze definitely had the best speech of the night! She was hilarious, quick witted, and down to earth. Apparently she is also a monster truck driver. It seemed like there was a TV speech, and then what she really wanted to say which included cuss words, and very interesting stories about her in the business.
The Bushwackers. These guys are awesome. They were probably the most humble in accepting their honor and could not wait to share their many many stories with the crowd. They were on stage the longest, but had some of the best genuine reactions.
Macho Man is the Man. Hulk Hogan introduced the Macho Man and did an amazing job, impersonations included. Several occasions the crowd would give an "ohhhhhhhhhh yeaaaaa".
Conner the Crusher. Daniel Bryan introduced Conner's father who crowed him with the Warrior award. DB literally had me in tears once or twice because of the amazing speech he gave. He wanted us to know what a huge impact Conner had made in his life, and it was truly moving.
Arnold. Arnold was cool to see in person. He gave a great speech about being a fan of the WWE. Crowd often broke out with his iconic catch phrases.
Kevin Nash. Honestly, he looked bored as hell out there. They introduced him as Big Daddy Cool, and he insisted during his speech that it was the Diesel character that really got him inducted.
Overall, the HOF was awesome to attend. I got to see some of my favorite superstars and divas in person. It was worth sitting through the long speeches just to see all the wrestlers talking with each other.
More coming...
