World Prediction Championship 2021 Event #26 Results

NJPW's Power Struggle marked the beginning of the WPC Playoffs 2021, but it was also a nine-match card in which a whole number of different championship belts were on the line to be won.

TAG DIVISION

This weekend three matches were booked to take part in the Tag Division, unfortunately in two of the rankings match there were some no-shows which drastically effected the outcomes of the matches.

Team Friendship (Blaze & Chris) vs. Shinjuku Murder Klub (Necro & Juice)

1st.Dream Warriors135+8
2nd.LYTBB V2.0612-6

We do finish up though with a title defence as the Lethal Drivers defend their titles against The Blissfits In Action.

SINGLES DIVISION

We now onto the Singles Division, where we have a total of five matches booked - including the Grand Championship being on the line in two separate matches. The match booked for the title sees reigning champion Chris taking on Juice, who is the third beneficiary of 'Option-E' this season.

With a margin of just one win, Juice claims the title for the very first time in their WPC career. However - there is no time for celebration, as with Juice claiming the belt we now have to settle the second match of night that sees them taking on the highest eligible challenger in the GC Division, Jeff.

In another tight contest, Juice manages to retain their recently won championship to end the night as the new WPC Grand Champion. Congratulations to our fifth different winner this season.

Juice

We now shift out focus to the Grand Prix Event Championship, which everyone apart from Chris, Jeff and Juice are eligible to compete for.

Tied 3rd.Sky63+3
Tied 3rd.LadyHotRod63+3
Tied 3rd.Smark63+3
Tied 3rd.Jimmy King63+3
7th.TFW54+1

With two predictors tied in first position, we refer to the rules in place for the GPE Championship:

- everyone not competing for another championship belt, is eligible to win the belt
- if predictors are tied in 1st place, the predictor with the lowest overall differential wins the belt
- if predictor can not be separated by their differential, then the belt is vacated
- the challenger has the advantage, if two predictors are tied 1st and one of them is the title holder, the champion loses the tie

Going into this event - both Lethal & HoHo came in with the same differential of +64, this means that because neither predictor can be separated, the belt is vacated.

The Clout Cup is be contested for between Smark, The Fourth Wall and Blaze over a three event marathon. Below shows the current rankings, after the first event of the three event scheduled to crown a new Clout Cup Holder.

The WPC Clout Cup
Smark vs. The Fourth Wall vs. Blaze
Clout CupNameWinsLossesDifferential
1st.Smark63+3
2nd.TFW540+1
3rd.Blaze09-9

Smark currently hold a narrow lead over Fourth. Blaze claims a negative nine differential, although this will not effect his overall rankings as he did not predict - it does effect the outcome of this three event marathon in the same fashion not predicting for a tag team match work.

Our next focus is the the !nteractive Championship Division, which continues to run as an experimental division with WPC that uses a 'Head 2 Head Matchplay' mechanic. Points are earned in the following ways:

A Win = 1 point
A Loss = -2 points
A Draw = 0 points
A Championship Loss = -5 points
A Championship Draw = Granted The Next Title Shot + 0 points
The Champion earns no points

Juice takes on Lethal Banks in a match that will crown a new !nteractive Champion. A victory for Juice will result in an immediate vacation of the belt however, due to them becoming the new Grand Champion.

Lethal [7] vs. [6] Juice

Jeff [5] vs. [6] Sky

Blaze [0] vs. [7] HoHo

LHR [6] vs. [5] TFW

Lethal edges past Juice to become the the new !nteractive Champion, whilst Chris returns to the division replacing Juice. Chris' points tally is reset to 0, but their previous score margin differential remains intact.

Holy shit!!!

I thought I’d done awful but tied event title, tied tag titles and win the !nteractive to complete the set of belts. Wow.

Congrats to Juice on the big one and to other winners.

Jeff “Cowboy” Page, you’ll do it soon brother.

I'm in shock that EVIL finally paid off for me.

I'm more annoyed that I'm pretty sure I predicted 2 or 3 other Bullet Club combos that also included EVIL to win the belt earlier this year and they didn't but this time they do :lol
