World Prediction Championship 2021 Event #18 Results [Part I]

Event #18 is a key event in the WPC as it will be bring a conclusion to the WPC Tag League 2021 and we will find out who will be challenging for the belts at the next event. First off though, we will start out focus by looking at the Singles Division.

Singles Division

Going into this event, Blaze was in possession of the Event Championship - the question is though, despite the odds always again the champion will this be the first time the champion retains their belts?

With two five tied in first position, we refer to the rules in place for the GPE Championship:

- everyone not competing for another championship belt, is eligible to win the belt
- if predictors are tied in 1st place, the predictor with the lowest overall differential wins the belt
- if predictor can not be separated by their differential, then the belt is vacated
- the challenger has the advantage, if two predictors are tied 1st and one of them is the title holder, the champion loses the tie

Going into this event, The Fourth Wall had the lowest differential of +8 (was the only person with a single figure differential prior to the event starting) which means that for the second time this season, TFW is now in possession of the WPC Grand Prix Event Championship.

Our next matches was put together, to final bring an end to the a battle between two men who had previously experienced Championship draw and therefore not won the Grand Championship. Jeff and Lethal meet for one final singles match, with this future contract only available to a winner - and it being totally removed from the table if another draw takes place.

Lethal Banks earn himself a future shot at the Grand Championship, which will be booked for a time that fits around other booking. A silver lining for the situation, is that if Jeff hadn't made an error - both men would have tied and this Last Chance shot would have seen this particular title contract thrown in the trash forever.

We now move on to the WPC Grand Championship, which see Necro cash in his exclusive contract which was earned by winning the 2021 edition of King of the Ring - and actually faces the 2020 holder of the crown.

Haza manages to successfully retain the belt in a very close contest and continue his second tenure as the Grand Champion. Jeff as the OTPG Champion, is next in line for a shot so we know this matchup will take place at the next scheduled event.

The !interactive Championship (Interactive Championship) is our next focus, with Event #14 being the first time in the history of the WPC that the 'Head 2 Head Matchplay' mechanic will be utilised. Points are earned in the following ways:

A Win = 1 point
A Loss = -2 points
A Draw = 0 points
A Championship Loss = -5 points
A Championship Draw = Granted The Next Title Shot + 0 points
The Champion earns no points

Our championship match see Deth being awarded their championship rematch, although if this match also result in a draw hey will not be guaranteed a third match in a row against the champion.

The WPC Tag League 2021 proved to be a very competitive affair, but we have reached a conclusion. The difference between 1st and 2nd was just a differential of +6 - but the SMK did claim a victory over the Dream Warriors if there is a interest in head-to-head tally. This means we are able to congratulate the Shinjuku Murder Klub as he winner of the WPC Tag League 2021.

UPDATE

Moving forward Haza retains the WPC Grand Championship and at Event #19: GCW California Party it will be Lethal Banks who will face Haza for the Championship, with the winner of the match booked to face #1 contender and current Open the Prediction Gate Champion Jeff at Event #20: Extreme Rules.

Sky retained the !interactive Championship and continues their strong run of form as the premier champion of this experimental championship system.

The match between the Lethal Banks and HoHo for the The Clout Cup will have to be postponed, until both members of the Lethal Drivers aren't so heavily involved in the Grand Championship title picture - which means that @HoHo Kimura can you please inbox me, to let me know which none champion you wish to offer a shot at the Cup.

The Fourth Wall become a two-time WPC Grand Prix Event Champion at this event and joined Necro, Sky and LadyHotRod as the fourth (what are the odds!) person to have held the title twice this season. A third win for any of these four, will earn them a future shot at the Grand Championship.
