World Prediction Championship 2021 Event #7 Results

The Japan August Mega Weekender was a twenty four match card, with certain members of the community feeling more confident than others, which isn't surprising considering some of our predictors would very much consider both Stardom and NOAH as being niche. Nonetheless, the show went on and the first match that we will be looking at will be the contest for the Open The Prediction Gate Championship between Haza and Jimmy King.

With Jimmy King failing to post a prediction, Haza wins the match by default although with a differential score of +4 it is still seen as an impressive scoring for the new number one contender for the WPC Grand Championship.

For the majority of the field, the battle was for the Grand Prix Event Championship which going into the event was in the possession of Necro. Would he be able to become the first person to successfully defend the Event Championship?

With two predictors tied in first position, we refer to the rules in place for the GPE Championship:

- everyone not competing for another championship belt, is eligible to win the belt
- if predictors are tied in 1st place, the predictor with the lowest overall differential wins the belt
- if predictor can not be separated by their differential, then the belt is vacated
- the challenger has the advantage, if two predictors are tied 1st and one of them is the title holder, the champion loses the tie

With Necro going into the match as the reigning champion - the champion has the advantage meaning that our new GPE Champion is - Juice.

Our main focus for the evening though, is of course the WPC Grand Championship in what will be Chris' third title defence this season against someone who has never challenged for the Grand Championship before, Lethal Banks.

Both Chris and Lethal Banks ended the event tie at twelve wins apiece in another close contest for the Grand Championship. With the score being level though and nothing to separate the pair, with champions advantage. Chris successfully retains the belt for the second time this season by way of a draw.
