The first night of action has been noted down, the match that Ibushi was originally booked in has been scratched from the card meaning that only five matches took place on Night 1.

World Prediction Championship 2021 Event #5 Results

The NJPW SuperShow, due to the injury/illness of Ibushi meant that both matches he was scheduled to take part in have been scratched from the card taking the original eleven match card down to nine. The first matchup that we look at, features the WPC Grand Prix Event Championship match which we already know is guaranteed to have a new champion.

With two predictors tied in first position, we refer to the rules in place for the GPE Championship:

- everyone not competing for another championship belt, is eligible to win the belt
- if predictors are tied in 1st place, the predictor with the lowest overall differential wins the belt
- if predictor can not be separated by their differential, then the belt is vacated
- the challenger has the advantage, if two predictors are tied 1st and one of them is the title holder, the champion loses the tie

Going into this contest Blaze had a +2 differential, whilst HoHo had a -1 differential, which means that as the predictor with the lowest overall differential - HoHo is the new WPC Grand Prix Event Champion.

Our next contest is for the Open The Prediction Gate Championship.

The Open The Prediction Gate Championship remains vacant for the second event in a row as neither Jeff nor Lethal could be separated when the Super Show came to an end. With there being no plan for the Grand Championship to be defend at Event #6, Jeff and Lethal will be given 'FIVE MORE MINUTES' with the winner of their contest facing the Grand Champion at Event #7.

It is now time to focus on the main-event of the evening though, as Chris comes into the match to defend the Grand Championship for the second time this season in a triple threat match against Haza and Juice.

Chris is involved in another close contest for the second event in a row, although in this week's event he ends up as the clear winner with Haza and Juice being one loss short, although even a draw would have seen Chris retain the title. Chris' next defence of the Grand Championship will take place at Event #7.

As we move on from the NJPW Super Show, Lethal Banks and Jeff remain as the Open The Prediction Gate Championship Contenders with the pair set to face each other at a decided at Event #6. If the pair happen to tie at the next event, then they will both face Grand Champion Chris at Event #7 - in two separate contests.

Event #6 for the rest of the field will see them compete for the WPC Grand Prix Event Championship (apart from Chris as the reigning Grand Champion) in what will be HoHo's first defence as the champion, it will be also the first time in 2021 that predictors will be able to earn point in the AEW Division Rankings.
