Well it's a no-go then isn't it....

It's like saying McDonalds can't to into gormet food... As a company they can but they'd best not give the public the slightest sniff of the fact that the two ventures are in any way related. They are in NO position to take advantage of their current brand profile.

All that's really being agreed here is that pro-wrestler X theoretically could strive for a career in MMA.

Half the guys can't wrestle, neverming MMA. C'mon... I respect Cena, Batista and Show, and like Orton and Triple H, but they all rely on just taciics such as punching and grabbing for most of the match, mixed with a few moves. Hwo can they be expected to have an MMA match?

This thread sucks!

(Sorry if that's considered spam).

Seems to me that anyone that WOULD like to see WWE do a bit of MMA effectivley wants wrestling not to be 'fake'. MMA is pretty much what these guys PRETEND to be doing, only an amped up entertaining, scripted version.

Not true Airfixx, Id love to see it under the right circumstances. With bigger stars, Id love to see it. A shoot between Taker/HHH? COME ON!!!

Meh.... That just sounds like novelty value to me.

Serious, I just dont' see the point when you can watch guys that are totally geared towards that sport doing it (insert big name MMA guy here)...

As for "biggers stars"... They're only big in their particular field.

Yeah, and thats what we care about, stars in THIS field. You KNOW there would be some pent up bullshit coming out in a match like that.

I spose.... I'm still pretty indifferent to the idea, but then again I all but never watch MMA (apart from seeing if Brock got his ass kicked in his first match); nor have I really ever dug boxing.

I have an even better idea. Let's get the UFC fighters to start doing wrestling matches!

Fuck yeah!

Awful idea. How do you hype it? You stress that these specific matches are NOT pre-planned? That destroys the credibility of the other matches.

At everyone saying Orton, Cena, Batista... no. I'm talking about guys who TRAIN in MMA gyms. I'm not talking about guys who throw a punch or two in a match. I'm talking shoot wrestlers, submission specialists, and some of the more physical brawlers.

I agree that it could take away from the characters in being that, if they don't do this shit in regular matches, it hurts the image of wrestling. I ask for opinions, not personal attacks, for a reason.

I haven't been blown away by Brock or Lashley in MMA, but they've done alright for themselves. They actually hype these guys as WWE Wrestlers. I think it could help certain individuals, but yes, injury is too high. Not having these guys wrestle several weeks after the event would hurt the WWE.

This discussion stemmed from a talk with a friend about it. He thought it would result in all positives. I can see some good in it, I'd be entertained by a bunch of possible fights they could host. Ignore Show, Cena, Batista. But I'd like to see CM Punk vs. Matt Hardy in an MMA fight. Helms vs. either of them. Taker vs. Kane. Regal vs. Finlay. They could have some VERY entertaining fights.

I never said I thought it would be ALL positive though ;).
