Regardless of what show he was on, the company was getting too many complaints about the nature of the character in general. The martyr stuff (and the fact that WWE could have easily edited that out on the day of the London bombings, but chose not to) was just the final nail in the coffin for Hassan. I liked the gimmick, but I wouldn't consider him buried without purpose because they were forced to eliminate his character off television due to the heat they were getting over it. Before that though, he was actually being pushed quite strongly. Ignoring that nonsensical two minute squash by John Cena the night before he was drafted to Smackdown (which was mind boggling considering they built him up to have an undefeated streak for the past six months previous), he was originally supposed to face Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship the following month at Summerslam. To this day, I still wish that match could have happened (just to see the amount of heat it would get, being in D.C and all) and wished it could have been Batista that killed off the Hassan character instead of Undertaker, but I digress.
