World Title: The World Prediction Championship
Gateway Title: Open The Prediction Gate Championship
After years of experience in other prediction competitions, the long-time wrestling fan founder of the WPC created the WrestlingSmarks version based a very simple mission statement: The competition must be simple to enter, it must be simple to maintain and, above all else, it must be fun to take part in.
By using a straight "pick 'ems" formula for participation and using the competitors own performances in the competiton to create a narrative we believe that we've covered all three bases.
The WPC itself started out as just a single title from which the competition took it's name. The World Prediction Championship. Defended and decided under the simple rule of "top score wins the title" the championship has yet to be defended successfully more than once and, so far, only one person has managed to achieve more than one title reign.
In September 2020 this "Champion vs The World" was removed, with the number one contender being noted by the holder of a new title, the Open The Prediction Gate Championship where the OTPG Champion will defend the title in a fatal fourway match against the top three scorers of the previous event as well as challenge for the World Championship.
In July 2020 the WPCs first tournament was launched. The Wrestling Smarks King of the Ring saw a seeded, sixteen person bracket compete based on their standings in the World Prediction Rankings. The winner of this tournament will receive the first ever one on one title shot for the World Prediction Championship.
The World Prediction Rankings was established after the WPCs second event and is a league where competitors standings are based on their overall prediction performance throughout the year and the competitors in the WPC challenge to become the WPC Grand Champion for the given year.
