I totally expect the cheers to fade as the fickle crowd's memories of Jeff do.

World title? ...The time (if there ever was one) is long gone.

I never saw Matt Hardy as world champ material. He is completely boring for one and I doubt if there were no such thing as the Hardyz, he would even be cheered so much by the fans. Fans like because of what he used to be. He is out of shape, still no personality, and lacks that edgieness (SP) of champs like Edge, Orton, Taker, Cena, Jeff, etc.

At his best, he was a very well rounded wrestler, but unfortunately for him he severely lacks the x-factor.

exactly guys like him and Shelton have the ring work just not the other half of what it takes to be a star

People are quick to assume that Matt Hardy is just some fatty lucky to still be employed, but in reality he is one of the most dependable workers the roster has..... the fans cheer him because they are appreciative of what he has done in the past, also because he isn't the massive muscle headed, slow motion moving guy that WWE is acumstomed to.

Yeah, he's just fat and slow now.

Honestly, I believe that if the WWE wouldn't have dropped t he ball with him the 3 or 4 times he could have had a good main event push he could have been but the WWE basically jobbed his credibility out. If he would not have gotten bigger and slower I would say he could but today is a different story.

Why he didn't get pushed to the main event after moving to Smackdown following his feud with Edge, I'll never know.

^Same question I had tbh. Or during his V1 Mattitude character he atleast should have been given a mid-card push. That character was awesome.

He was Cruiserweight champ, got decent TV time and beat Mysterio at WM that year... I'd say that was decent enough push for an unproven singles guy. From there he CHOSE to go to Raw so he could be with Lita. Soon after he got injured and that's when Lita started screwing Edge, resulting in Matt's getting fired.

The firing was outrageously out of order, but push-wise, he was NOT screwed during the V1-era.

Returning to SD in 2005 though was an entirely different matter... I only watched the PPVs from that year recently and having seeing how well the Edge fued went, I was like "WDF???? ...Beaten in a short match by JBL. Why?".

Hopefully, he will never win. Matt Hardy is boring as FUCK. When he was a heel, it was interesting for maybe a day or two. After that, I doubt many people actually gave a fuck that he was a heel.

This is just all my opinion, of course, but I never saw much in Matt. He's not a terrible wrestler but he has a huge boring factor (again, this is just imo). He just couldn't keep people interested whatsoever. This didn't happen every single time he came out but there were quite a few times when he came out, got a bit of a response and then it seemed like everyone just wanted him to get the fuck out of the arena and no one cared if he won or lost a match.

I honestly think that if he would not have had so many failed pushes he could be a main eventer. I remember back in 2007 he got some of th biggest crowd pops on Smackdown. Now, many people say it was because he was Jeff's brother but hey, if it is working why the fuck not exploit it for all its worth? I do admit though he isn't the flashiest of wrestlers but hey exactly how exciting is Orton's moveset?

Well, it's kinda lame to get pops just because of who you are related to. I think Matt would rather get pops because he's a good wrestler as opposed to just being Jeff's bro.

It's a shame how out of shape and mediocre he is now. He was absolutely awesome from 2006 until his heel run. 2007 was the year of Awesome Matt Hardy TV Matches, and 2008 was his really great ECW Championship reign where he basically just had awesome matches with everybody because he could. His heel run was decent, specifically when he was working with the cast on his arm. The mistake was to turn him face when he returned late last year, because it really made no sense, and he lost all his steam. I don't see him ever winning a world title at this point. If he hadn't turned heel, perhaps he could be a top face on Smackdown; if he had remained heel, I could see him being a relatively large player on either show. They'll probably hold onto him just so that he doesn't go to TNA and reunite the Hardy Boyz, but I'm not sure that he'll do much more than float around the undercard.

By now, I think it's safe to say that most people cheer for him not because of his last name, but because he's a likeable character.

Matt Hardy was doomed to be a jobber the second he got the "Hear and Soul" of a show nickname the other jobber in the company had.
