Why Would Hook Retire the FTW Title?

I keep seeing this but here's the flaw in that logic, didn't he already challenge for the world title while stay having the FTW title?

So it's because of some stupid mark in the scrum? This is one of my problems with TK, he keeps trying to please the Twitter and Meltzer crowd, he doesn't need to.
