One source that 24Wrestling.com spoke to exclusively reports that TNA’s decision to bring in Raven and Shane Douglas was not a knee-jerk reaction to slipping ratings after iMPACT had recently reached record highs. Ideas had been bounced around for quite some time regarding the two, and it was decided to bring them in on the same episode, along with Victoria, to create one big news-worthy night to kick off the road to Slammiversary.

The role Shane Douglas is playing opposite Daniels was actually the idea talked about for Buff Bagwell at one point, but TNA chose to go with Douglas instead. When they found out the kind of shape Douglas was in, they wanted to go with another star who had been out of the limelight for a while and Buff’s name popped up since he is still in great shape. However after some discussion, they decided that Douglas being out of shape would actually help the gimmick, since Douglas is playing a character who is struggling with the fact that he has become what he once crusaded against -- an out of shape wrestler past his prime.

Raven was one of the names originally pitched for the Dr. Stevie storyline back when it began, while Victoria was seen as a no-brainer since she is looking better than ever and still wants to wrestle but on a lighter schedule than WWE

The Raven & Victoria signings I like, but Shane Douglas is just a fat piece of shit. He's worth nothing.

Raven's segment was pretty cool. We knew he wasn't gonna work against Stevie, but it still played out alright.

Victoria is an excellent signing for TNA. She can help elevate the Knockouts division, she can fill in the void that Gail Kim left that they've been looking for.

Raven, I read a report that he may not be a long term deal. It's been awhile since he's been in TNA, and his mic work is still great.

Douglas, meh don't give a shit. I don't think this is going to do anything for Daniels. I'll have to wait and see how this whole storyline plays out, but I don't like the start.

Buff would have been better than Franchise. D:

Raven's still a solid promo. His wrestling (if at all) Will be probably what it always was. Which isn't saying too much.

Victoria is great and deserved far better than what WWE did to her. She's the best, pretty much.

Speaking of deserving better, Daniels just got out from under his masks! And now his first big deal is with...Shane Douglas? :n:
