According to several Pokedex entries, Shuppet likes to feed on dark emotions such as Malice, Envy, and Revenge. If you become more and more revengeful Shuppet will come to your house at night to feed on your emotions. In Ultra Moon the entry says "There's a proverb that says, “Shun the house where Shuppet gather in the growing dusk.”
