I have noticed a shake up in commentary teams these days. I think like a lot of WWE nowadays, this is another area that has fallen in quality. I mean I don't think Michael Cole should be the number 1 guy in this area. He is good but not that good. In the late 90's and early 00's he was mediocre and back up commentator at best.

JBL is decent but not great either. I just don't think commentary comes naturally to him at all and there are people out there a lot better than he.

Saxton - Don't even get me started. Poor poor and more poor!

I mean Kevin Owens and New Day step in on a temporary basis recently and wiped the floor with the commentary teams and they're not even specialists in the field!!

Why has Jerry Lawlor been relegated to SmackDown and back up for PPV events? He was the main man for years. Is it due to a new era of wrestling and his old age? Not much explanation from WWE for this.

Who do WWE look to to improve this field. Bring back the likes of Josh Mathews from TNA or Kevin Kelly from ROH? Or an entirely new recruitment process???

JBL is awful. Corey Graves could easily fill that spot as a heel commentator. Add Mauro Ranallo and Tom Phillips to the mix and there ya have it, a pretty darn good line-up.

Michael Cole should do it alone... All the commentators suck in WWE except Cole and Mauro, they need Mauro to carry the team on Smackdown so that team isn't a pile of shit... It doesn't matter if people like Cole or not, he's the best they have, like it or not.

I thought a female commentator would be good, something fresh.. but Renee bombed on NXT, so that didn't last long.

Personally, I would just have Randy Orton on commentary all by himself but that might make people uneasy.

So since its 2016, I'd go ahead and pull Chris Benoit out of whichever box he's hiding in and put him in as color commentator.

If they needed a comedy relief guy, I'd put Eddie Guerrero out there but that might be in poor taste.

Whys everyone hate on JBL so much? Granted I hardly watch Raw, but JBL usually makes me laugh with the shit he says.

Mauro Ranallo and Corey Graves would make a good team, one real good voice and another one who has been decent in NXT and has had a history in the ring

Mauro Ranallo and Corey Graves, and Cheal Sonnen for Raw and Smackdown. Mauro is an excellent announcer, he reminds me of JR. I think Corey Graves would be the perfect Jerry Lawler for him. Cheal for me would be the wild card, because I've never seen him commentate a match before, but I think he'd be good and make those funny heel comments that JBL is supposed to do, accept Cheal would actually be good at it.

Kelly is rubbish he does not even call matches anymore, mainly because he is paired with corino just them making constant jokes. He was not bad when Nigel was with him he was less distracted.

My guess is that he isn't the flavor of the month anymore. The clones want to taste Corey Graves junk to see if its sweeter.

I like JBL. He's a bigot but has a heart of gold. He's the type of guy who'd meet a kind homeless mexican family, invite them into his car and drive their a**es back to the border free of charge. JBL is the kind of man who would fund R-Truth's rap career but grab his rifle if the latter asked his daughter out JBL is awesome. Some relics never get old.

I actually really like JBL, but since Raw is the flagship show you have to go with who is undeniably the best, Corey Graves, Mauaro Ranallo and Tom Phillips since, I would maybe pick Cole but maybe its not the best idea to have Ranallo and Cole on the same table unless their roles are properly distinguished. Then have the JBL, Saxton and Cole on Smackdown, but NXT would need some attention...

Jim Ross is 65 years old. Nostalgia would only last so long before you realize it just isn't the same anymore.

This. I've listened to Ross' commentary from his post WWE career. And it isn't the same. The old bloke just isn't able to keep up anymore. Age and Bells palsy slowing him down.
