But they made sure Cena was protected by giving a reason for his defeat. That's hardly different from some heel interfering. Bryan earned his win but not a clean one.

But no one could tell a difference from Summerslam and the usual Cena performance, so it shouldn't matter. In the grand scheme of things, hardly anyone will take notice of the fact that Cena took six weeks off after Summerslam to heal an injury. But they will remember that Bryan beat Cena for the title, which many (Cena, McMahons, etc.) doubted that he could do during the build to the match.

Rooting for Cesaro but eventually it'll be good ol' John Cena.

1+1=2, Cena dropped it way too quick with the elbow injury like he said; so WWE wise they will slowly give it back to him.
